I'll eat my crow when someone, ANYONE who is a Pats fan comes foward and admits that rolling out the QB for a naked bootleg when you're 2 minutes from the Super Bowl was a TERRIBLE and STUPID call by the genius coach.My guess is, it will be a while before anyone actually takes me up on that. I'll admit it as soon as you admit that all your credibility on these boards is gone!!! Why don't you point out all the mistakes the Colts made against the Pats instead of one bad call in the Patriots game. I will take the one bad call against the numerous mistakes the Colts and MVP Peyton Manning made yesterday.We all know you hate the Patriots and are still looking for any negative thing to say about them, but thats ok. Enjoy the Superbowl....and oh yeah, how is your team doing....do they have many golf outings planned??? :P :P

Ok, obviously not ALL fans of any team can be characterized in one way. Also, it sucks for the good fans of particular teams to be grouped in with the bad ones. With that said, I have frequented 4 message boards over the past few years: this one, fftoday, thehuddle, and espn. Also, I have met tons of football fans in person. By far, the most obnoxious fans I have seen from my experiences at EACH AND EVERY message board have been Eagles and Pats fans.I apologize to the good fans of those teams. It sucks that so many morons mess it up for you, but you all are gonna carry that label around for a while, so you might as well just learn to deal with it.

 
I'm sure there are plenty of classy Pats fans out there, who celebrated their Super Bowl the same as the Rams, the Ravens, and the Bucs fans have in recent years. However, anyone not a Pats fan who was around here for the off-season of 2001 and for the first 3 or so games of 2002 knows how annoying and whiny many of the Pats fans were. Because of people feeling it took a horrible call (Tuck Rule) to get them to the Super Bowl at all, and because people felt they were still lucky to beat the Rams... then in 2002 when people didn't come out saying how they were the best team in the league, or were going to repeat. I even recall a thread on how insulting it was that Madden NFL 2003 didn't rate them as the highest rated team the next year. Thank God the Pats choked after those first few games and those doing all the talking disappeared until now.Thing is, I kind of thought this was a FBG board thing, that it probably wasn't as noticeable elsewhere. But what I've been noticing is that everywhere I go, I hear the same opinion. The last two nights at two different bars, there were people who said they were cheering against the Pats because they didn't want to go through a repeat of having to listen to their fans whine. On other message boards and bbs's, I hear the same thing.Just face it guys, there were Pats fans who made a bad name for the whole bunch of you. Whether or not it was a lot or just a few, many football fans are sick of any topic that has to deal with how great the Pats are, or that are clamoring for respect for them. I don't know of anything like that with the Bucs, Ravens, or Rams. Threads like these are just continuing to reinforce that annoyance. You guys have a lot of great fans like bostonfred. Just weather this out and stop reinforcing the image that's still fresh in everyone's minds.

I get so tired of this.The only reason Pats fans had to make such a big deal out of that season is because we heard from everyone that the Rams were the better team. It didnt matter that the Rams lost, all offseason we heard about the tuck rule, how if the superbowl was a series we'd lose 9 of 10, and lots of other stupid tidbits. I've never seen an offseason where people gave the Superbowl champs such a hard time.Seriously, if anyone is posting anything about how "lucky" the pats were with the tuck rule or any other garbage from that year, how can you complain about whining? You're just instigating fans to refute your arguments. It's like slapping someone in the face and then getting upset when they hit you back.

At the risk of starting a whole new argument.....Don't you think that maybe the reason why so many people were outraged at the tuck rule was because they had a valid point?Try to see this without homer glasses for a second. Colts fans should admit that they got lucky vs Tampa this year.49er fans should admit that they got lucky vs NY in the playoffs last year.And NE fans should admit taht they got lucky vs Oak a few years back.I think that there was such an outlash to all of these because they were valid arguments. But the Pats fans never seemed(or at least the majority of them) to be able to admit this.

I think we need all Pats fans to display a Scarlet P in their signatures so we can figure out who to pay attention to and whose whining to ignore. :brush:

Some guy I never heard of with only 30+ posts attacking the cred of a guy with 3G+ posts, almost all of which are on target and/or insightful.Every single Shark Pool "personality" with that many posts is bound to have a few off posts - luckily, credibility is built on way more than a few posts. The 2,800 insightful, thoughful, and non-biased posts more than make up for a few biased Titan homer-ish posts.Just b/c a guy does something in the Pool to get under your skin doesn't ruin his cred. I know, for example, that Aaron28 is a Bills fan, and I judge his opinions accordingly. Same with Burning Sensation - Bills' fan, and a Deuce lover. Some like OSmith, some can't stand Kevan Barlow, some are on the other side of the fence - whatever. It doesn't affect their credibility on these boards just because they have a "pet" issue - as long as their thoughts are well thought out and supported, they've got cred. Herd's pet issue is Pats fans, and the Titans. Pats are going to the Bowl, Titans are at home. That's the only statement that needs to be made. Potshots at the king are why sometimes it's tough to be the king - think Laker, Piston, and Knicks fans have good thoughts about Michael Jordan and those 6-peat Bulls?A guy with 30 posts - and a member for over 9 months - has nothing to say about credibility - you haven't built yourself any, and you haven't participated in any meaningful discussions. You are a sideline observer - which is fine until you post something like this. Show us what you got before you start with the criticism about cred. regarding one of the more helpful members of this board - especially before you criticize a board member who doesn't get paid to add his thought, or to push the FBGuys' site, yet he's here every day with good info.

Waiting for JohnHenry to appear here...What a tool :P My opinion as a Bills fan (soon marrying a Panthers fan) is that judging an entire fan base just because of some annoying jerks is not the best thing to do. However, you have to keep context in mind. Back on ol' Yellow, a ton of Pats fans were just horrendously annoying and whiny. So if the vocal minority acts that way, that's what we see of Pats fans and how we think of them. It is certainly true that some fans, especially Rams fans, did try to pull out the luck card about the Pats after the win. But that's no reason to just go crazy for months (months!) about the lack of respect for your team. The Patriots are a great team. I'm certainly rooting against them as a Bills fan and soon-to-be husband of a Panthers fan. But I actually respect them more than most teams that have been great lately because of the fact that I don't think they have a ton of real talent. They are very well coached and win as a team. That is very impressive. Just stop telling me about it and about how no one has respect for you every four threads, OK?

 
It is certainly true that some fans, especially Rams fans, did try to pull out the luck card about the Pats after the win. But that's no reason to just go crazy for months (months!) about the lack of respect for your team.

Either way, the Pats are a great team and have proven the week 1 ### kicking to be pretty much a fluke.Make your time Pats fans. This year's Patriots are an admireable crew. Tough, hard-hitting and low-keyed personality-wise. I like 'em a lot.But, after the summer of 2002, when we all had to listen to NE fans whining about the disrespect, I can't root for 'em. Compare it to the way Bucs fans comported themselves this past year, even as the season disintegrated for them. There's no comparison.It's interesting to me that most of us admire the Pats while we dislike NE fans, yet most of you really dislike the Ravens but are at least neutral about their fans.

On one play yes, but they scored 2 other TD's with a great offense against what they exposed as a weak cover 2 defense.

Of course they got lucky on one play that would have lost them the game. But, the reality is that the call was the right call. Don't whine about the call, whine about the rule. AND, after that play, they drove for a field goal to tie, and in OT they drove for a field goal to win. Then, they went on the road to knock off the favored Steelers. Then they went to a dome to beat the greatest show on turf. So the one lucky play (payback for the phantom roughing the passer call against the Pats vs. the Raiders, as Oakland went on to the SB to wiin in I believe 78), while vital, wasn't the story of the whole run. And then voila, that same Pats team is back int he SB again. You cannot win a championship on luck. There are too many games to play to qualify for the playoffs, and then too many to win in the playoffs. And, why does it seem that the winning teams are always accused of being lucky? Could it possibly be that luck is the residue of design and preperation?

Not bad and ur are absolutely right, GDB Bill Belichick. Didn't think much of the guy when he got here but the guy is a god as far as I am concerned now. Regarding Beldsoe, believe me when I say I know how you feel :(

I do agree that there are some whiny Pats fans out there. I found this thread to be of that nature, and I can't blame people for grouping us all together as whiners. But in the end, it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. :no: I'm grateful my team is playing for the Bowl for the 2nd time in 3 years, 3rd time in ten years, 4th in 20. :yes: Bash us all you want fellas

Why would I want to read all of your posts? They say the same thing! I will paraphrase....I hate the Patriots because they are the best team in football and beat my team the Titans...... Even though they beat the BEST TEAM IN FOOTBALL, the Indianapolis Colts, they still are'n that good........There it is HERD......I summed up about 12 pages of your "opinion".....So any predicitions for the SB? Please let me know so I can do the opposite!

Let me start this post by saying that I feel I'm a very enthusiastic Patriots fan...Having said that, it's the post above this that epitomizes why Pats fans are generalized as being whiny tools.C'mon guys - don't YOU all feel slighted when people lump you in a category because some foolish, mouthy fans of your team say stupid things?I'd like to think there are plenty of us Pats fans who do NOT whine when the Pats win (when non-Pats fans criticize how they won) OR when they lose (when only SOME Pats fans complain about why they lost).I'm not trying to turn this into a love-fest, but wanted to try to introduce a semblance of rationality.
