***OFFICIAL*** Dallas Cowboys 2014 In Season Thread (1 Viewer)

I'm loving this season. No expectations, no pressure and just flying under the radar. Not unlike this thread, even social media is quiet.

We had a brief splash of media attention about our line last week but nobody believes in them and let's just keep it rollin!

Tickets at FedEx Dec 28 have already been secured.

I'm realistic and see us losing next week @ Seattle. However, the 4 games after that are absolutely winnable. 8-2 isn't out of the realm of possibility. I never, ever, thought I'd say that. 6-4 or 7-5 is more likely, but man, 8-2 is possible. Wow.

So what's the game plan to combat Wilson and Co? Obviously a tough task and I'd think we could use all the speed on D that we have so Carter sounding like he'll be out again isn't good but things sound better for McClain. Is having McClain/someone spy Wilson an option or does that just take a player out of the equation and not work? It's a tough task as their O seems to have a great deal of wrinkles but I'd be happy with at least a solid showing considering the venue.

I have one question....how do you feel Culdeus?
It's early, we have seen this all before. Yes, they are playing decently. We haven't beat anyone of substance unless you think the Saints are good. Last thing, we cannot continue to run Murray like this. He is on pace to set a record or carries in year. We need to find additional balance through spreading the ball out more.

Been a fan for 38 years, but I am shocked by the naivete of the fans that think this team is actually real!

Do we have great future on the O-line, yes. Do we have a good RB, yes (your a fool if you think great). Are we overachieving on the D, yes. BUT....we looked like a steaming pile the first game and we stomped a Saints team that seems lost between the ears. Newsflash....we still have the biggest choke artist in the last 20 years behind center and the same senile old bast*rd in the owners box! Some guy today posted that he thinks we will win the next 4 games after Seattle and be 8-2...uhhhh, sure buddy. Keep drinking that JJ Kool-Aid. Homers even say we win Sunday. Put the bottle down peeps.

On the bright side, I do think they may win more than the 4 or 5 I thought beginning the year.

Lets keep it in perspective. We are 4-1. The running game has been great. Romo has been playing good ball. The defense has been playing beyond expectations........We could be the Raiders.

There's a saying....fool me once....blah blah blah.......I think most of us are waiting for more than just a tease....In other words, I'm glad we're 4-1, but show me you aint gonna fold at the end of the season!

I don't think Dallas has smacked anyone in the mouth like that since Erik Williams was at LT. I know it's early, but that was a beautiful first half.

Call me naive at this point, but hard to not believe at this point.

They completely dominated the LOS and only miscues on ST kept Seattle in the game. No way did I think this team could go into Seattle and win. If you aren't on board now, shame on you, IMO.

This is my favorite dallas team I've seen. Love this unit. Gutsy , noone believed in them. Since mid 90s it's been tough to be a cowboy fan.

I'm proud to be today.

Awesome

I know the hype train is going to get rolling now.......

Yes, it was a great win and this defense has been making Old Rod look like a genius. I would argue to say this is one of the biggest wins in the past decade.

The one thing that is really giving me hope this year as opposed to the dumpster fire that usually happens is the offensive play calling sticking to the plan. Even at the end of the game when I knew they were going to start falling in love with the pass again...they stuck to the run. Murray is playing out of his mind, Randle has looked great in limited play and Dunbar just makes things happen when he gets his chances.

I was saying today I feel like a battered wife....I want to believe in this team but everytime I have taken down my guard this team has crapped in my lap.

I am excited. I loved this win today. I think it was a huge statement but in my opinion, an even bigger statement will be what they do next. Do they lay an egg against the Giants? I really want to believe.

This team still has some really tough games ahead, the Giants, Eagles and even the Redskins can all score and can all make plays on defense.

There are also some guys hurt that will be coming back. Spencer is getting healthier.

Excited to see Tank Lawrence once he is finally healthy.

Losing Mo Claiborne has been a blessing in disguise. Sterling Moore and Scandrick are so much better.

I know we've all been burnt by past teams, but this team is for real this year. We hit on Rolando McClain, our offensive line and Murray are flat out dominant, and I see a new attitude that the coaches have instilled in these players.

We are 3-0 on the road so far, and just beat what many considered the best team in the NFL at their stadium...with their ridiculous 12th man advantage.

It's time for everyone to get over the past and get on board this new and improved Cowboys team.

I believe, I am all in
Still can't do it yet. Guess I've been disappointed too much the past two decades. There definitely are reasons for optimism.

I will say this team seems to have better discipline than most of the recent squads.

The things that have impressed me most:

1. Of course, the defense. Thought the secondary would routinely get burned, and they have held up really well. Thought the loss of Ware would be tough to overcome, but Rolando McClain has been a Godsend (literally).

2. Murray has been an absolute beast -- he's been an MVP candidate and the offense runs through him now. This leads to kudos for...

3. The O-line -- making it easy for Murray and providing great protection for...

4. Romo. Because of the success of the O-line and Murray, the Boys are less reliant on Romo forcing the ball. Since the first game, Romo has played great and made good decisions, minimizing the bad ones (which we all know are the Achilles hill of this offense).

The win over the Seahawks, on the road, was their biggest win in years. They are looking like a playoff team, I just worry about Murray holding up and a nearly-inevitable bad decision of some sort by Romo late in the season and/or in the playoffs.

I WANT to believe, but I'm hesitant.

I get the skepticism. You guys have been burned before. But with Romo looking much more mobile and like his past self against NO, there really is not a weakness on that offense.

Barring injury, with the state of defenses in the NFL, I don't see the Cowboys being shut down by anybody this year. We will know a lot more in two weeks when they go to Seattle.

And it may seem like I am fishing, but I assure you, I am not. I am genuinely concerned about the Cowboys winning the division this year.
The NFC East is a mess! Its crazy to me that the Cowboys are looking like the team to beat in this crap heap of a division. Things can change in a hurry.
Do you still think the NFC East is a Mess? Both the Cowboys and Eagles had great defensive games yesterday, Dallas continues to have a good offense, and the Philly offense looks like it is coming around. Up until yesterday, the Giants had looked very improved, but I think they were hurt a lot by not having Jennings. The Redskins have some good players but don't have enough and are showing the growing pains that usually come with a first year coach.

The Eagles have a slight advantage over the Cowboys in that their Special Teams have been awesome this year. If Sproles injury is significant, however, that advantage goes away. Should be a two team race unless the Giants sack up and find a way to win in Dallas this week, then it may be a three team race. While that is a tall order, Giants have two things going for them: They have played great at AT&T stadium (4-1) and they were embarrassed last night, so they should put up a much better effort next week.

I think the NFC East may end up being one of the best divisions in the NFL this year.

How bout dem COW-BOYS!

I don't know how many comments I have written then not posted in this thread. I was internally optimistic but didn't want to jinx it. Some good things that are happening for us right now:

1. Randle and Dunbar getting some reps in to keep Murray healthy. We have to be able to stick with this run game.

2. Romo is not the focal point of the offense. He will do better if the media and opposing defenses focus on him less.

3. Dat O-Line tho!!! This is literally the best unit since 1997. Even after the Free injury, Parnell filled in nicely.

4. The defense has shown surprising depth. Even with Scandrick, Carter, McClain, Claiborne, Melton, and Spencer missing games we have seen some great performances by back-ups. My biggest fear of this "over-achieving unit" was that reality would hit once we had to play through some inevitable injuries. This unit is playing lights out as a team though. There are no real blockbuster players, just a solid team defense.

Even after this monumental win and the laughable G-men coming to our house, I still fear for Eli's record in Jerry World. As a Cowboys fan I will be skeptical until we clinch the division, but when we do, regardless how far we get into the play-offs, I will be all in next year. This team is so young, it will only get better from here. Having cheered for Drew Bledsoe, and prayed for Marion Barber III. This is the team that I have the most confidence in. God it's good to be a Cowboys fan right now.

I didn't notice who came in but saw his name on the depth chart. Hopefully he can hold that position down short term. I see the NYG game as huge. Have to come out strong and get ahead. Let Eli force some balls he otherwise would not. Go Pokes!

Yeah hopefully he can play just well enough and the rest of the line should be able to take care of him. For what its worth the first play he was in the game was the Demarco run to take the lead and they ran it to the right side, so hopefully that's a good sign.

What a crazy year! Beating the chickens in seattle is Huge!

Not that we don't know what we have in him but lets give a random shout out to Dan Bailey. Its seemingly lost in all the glitz of the run game and how well the D is playing but what a huge kick that 56 yarders was right before the end of the third. Without that the Hawks have the ball to essentially start the 4th qtr with great field position up three. Thank goodness the Cundiff, Vanderjagt, Folk (in his last year) days are a thing of the past. Hopefully this isn't a jinx but Dans too good for that to happen!

What an idiot! He told the cop that if he knew he would be arrested, he would have just kept going when "the old guy" (security guard) confronted him. Wow....

That Seattle game was one for the ages. To double their total yardage. To lead first downs 21-9. Huge time of possession advantage. To run all over their vaunted defense in their house. Incredible. This team is for real.

But I am very worried about a trap game against the Giants. They looked awful last week. Its a division game. They aren't that bad. There is almost no way we can't have a let down. It would not surprise me to see a step back next week even though Dallas is the better team.

I'll be very happy with a last second FG for the win. This game will be much closer than it otherwise expected to be.

I'll have to admit I never would have thought this was possible, but as Norm pointed out today that the Redskins also had a brief 6 month period of the Snyder period that gave them unrealistic hopes. Take out that 6 month period and they are winning at a 40% rate and now on a huge losing streak with no hope in sight.

All it would take is an injury to Romo and this thing falls off a cliff. He's performing at a level that I didn't think he could still perform to. OL helps a ton.
