I truly get what you mean, but I'm OK without Ellis. His skills were diminishing and he was a constant whiner. I am aware that he was a great mentor to some younger guys, but other need to step up now and take on this role. I would love to see Dallas target OL and DL in this coming draft.I too see us able to handle one injury to a non-star type player, but if we have 2 injuries, it will get rough. I'm very middle of the road with my expectations this year. I don't see us as a SuperBowl team and I also don't see us sucking. I see us a legit contender that will make the playoffs and win 1 playoff game before getting bounced. No knock on Wade, but I'm interested to see who comes in next year and I hope his name sounds something like Sike Manihan. The season approaches and I have mixed feelings about what might happen. If we remain healthy, especially at some key spots, we'll do well. The offense will be able to handle one injury at each position and still be functional/decent.The defensive depth, however, worries me greatly at several key spots, including OLB, corner, and NT. Injuries to any of Ratliff, Ware, Spencer, and more than one of Newman/Jenkins/Scandrick, and we have trouble. If those key guys stay healthy, this team will be tough.Anyone regretting the decision to cut Greg Ellis yet?
Yeah, I just don't see Wade in a Superbowl. No knock on Wade, but I'm interested to see who comes in next year and I hope his name sounds something like Sike Manihan.
You nailed it Rideglake, any one injury on offense sans Romo and the team will press on, on the defensive side of the ball an injury to either Ratliff, Spencer, or Ware cripples this defense IMO. I would be happy with Shanahan but I have a feeling Holmgrem would be the leading candidate at this moment. I really dont want a new coach I still have faith in Wade and Garrett also bringing in a new coach means a new system for the offense and defense to learn as I doubt Wade would be willing to stay on as D coordinator. Learning a new system sets this team back and possibly out of their window which I believe is this year and next.I truly get what you mean, but I'm OK without Ellis. I agree. Also Many have maligned this past draft but I still like it. The A&M QB looks kinda crappy at the moment but maybe he just needs a little time.He is not a rookie but I like that Octavien as well. Given some time we might have something there.Yet Barry Switzer was thereYeah, I just don't see Wade in a Superbowl. No knock on Wade, but I'm interested to see who comes in next year and I hope his name sounds something like Sike Manihan.

I hope that's true because that would mean the 'Skins don't hire him, which hopefully means Zorn and Campbell succeeded. Realize, however, that that would mean a transition for Romo and the offense out of the Coryell-Zampese offense into a WCO, which typically takes a full year to master according to any number of coaches out there. No knock on Wade, but I'm interested to see who comes in next year and I hope his name sounds something like Sike Manihan.
Who does that say more about, Jason Garrett or Roy Williams?ESPN reporting that Roy Williams basically ran the same route over and over as a decoy last season. Not a great endorsement for our genius offensive coordinator.

I disagree. I thought the defense was pretty horrible most of the day today. A LOT of dropped passes by TB receivers today helped to make the defense look better than it was. The offense is still too pass happy, but that could be due to the fact that the running game was seriously lackluster today. On the positive side, though, the ST's looked GREAT today which really helped.Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with a good win on the road, but there are a lot of things that still need to be improved, imo.Well, I think we looked good. I think we need to show a little more pass rush but other than that I'm happy. It was good to get through that game where I thought we were pretty hosed on quite a few calls.
:( Run defense was atrocious and while they were able to hit Leftwich he still had time to throw and I dont believe the defense even recorded a sack. Better shape up fast with Giants coming to town next week.I disagree. I thought the defense was pretty horrible most of the day today. This is the thing that bothers me most about the perception of the Cowboys offense and their receiving corp. All of this "who's #1 and who's #2?" It doesn't matter. These guys are all interchangible and can make their mark at any given moment as demonstrated today. Now as far as FF is concerned, it leaves everybody where the Patriots were before they acquired Moss and Welker. Anybody is capable of stepping up on any given day. Whoever has the hot hand or the best matchup. If you want to make it a matter of semantics, then yes, Crayton would be your #2 guy. What kills me is how so many are so down on him from a league-wide perspective. To steal a line from Chris Berman, "this just in. This guy is good."Who is the #2 now, Crayton?
Considering Roy was injured, traded mid season and dealt with an injured QB, I'm not too worried. The offense looked pretty good, we always have trouble with teams that run zone blocking schemes so hopefully Wade can fix that. There were a lot of mistakes by the secondary, fortunately TB's receivers are terrible. I'm curious to see who was to blame for these plays, but it looked like our top 3 CBs all had a couple of bad plays.ST's looked great today, don't know how long it's been since I've said that!I'm still really worried about Flo, he looks pretty slow and his penalties are infuriating.Considering both guys are still with the team, I'm not sure there's as much of a distinction as you would wish.I'm more interested in looking forward than looking back.Who does that say more about, Jason Garrett or Roy Williams?ESPN reporting that Roy Williams basically ran the same route over and over as a decoy last season. Jenkins only had a cramp and returned to the game on the next series.I posted earlier that Sensabaugh suffered a rib injury of some kind and was questionable to return to the game, which he didn't.No further word on him. He was taken in for x-rays and I haven't heard anything yet.Andy any word on the status of Sensabaugh and Jenkins looked like they got a little banged up.

Sorry if I came off wrong. My apologies. It's just that any of these guys could step up from one week to the next. Long term I guess you'd have to go with Crayton as far as the WRs go. But it's going to get spread around quite a bit between them and the TEs. I'd watch for the matchups from week-to-week.Let me make it easier, who is the 2nd best fantasy WR after Roy?This is the thing that bothers me most about the perception of the Cowboys offense and their receiving corp. Good news. Looked like he had a fairly good game. Worried about the D and O. D got helped by a few dropped balls and the benefited from some huge missed assignments by TB. Hard to believe I can say it, but the ST looked good. What was it, 3 touch backs??Gerald Sensabaugh said his injured ribs were only bruised. He had his ribs X-rayed, which he said came back negative."I'll be getting treatment this week and I'll be ready for next week," he said.If Sensabaugh is limited or unable to practice some this week, Pat Watkins and possibly Marvin White could take turns in his place. Watkins finished the game at strong safety.
You originally asked who the #2 WR was now, which is irrelevant. Im willing to concede some plays but Tampa was CONSISTENTLY getting 5+ yards a pop with Cadillac Williams running the ball which is totally unacceptable add in the fact that Dallas recorded zero sacks and no turnovers. Byron Leftwich missed open recievers and Tampa recievers dropped the ball. Off the top of my head Tampa left at least 20 points on the field. Also your forgetting the mixups in the secondary that Leftwich failed to capitalize on. It was inexcusable to allow Tampa even a shot at a field goal at the end of the first half. These kind of mistakes were the downfall of Dallas last year. There only silver lining in the play of the defense was no bonehead penalties.I know everybody is expressing concern with the play of the defense today, but c'mon, it's Week One. On the road. As I posted this morning, this defense has 5-6 new starters and it may take a little time to gel. Yes, it was evident that they weren't in sync at times, but with limited time together in the preseason and playing so much vanilla in those games this is to be expected. I think we should afford them at least a little bit of time. There weren't many, if any, defenses that came out like gangbusters today. Heck, even Baltimore had the Chiefs nipping at their heels today without Cassel in the lineup.I, for one, am willing to afford this unit a little more time to get things together than just four quarters.

I hear ya. The Bucs did average 4.6 ypc today and you're right, that is totally unacceptable. Zero sacks, yes, but alot of pressure. Jenkins had one interception brought back by a penalty on Sensabaugh (that was bogus I might add) and nearly had another. They were close at times, but just didn't fully execute for one reason or another. I'm just saying it was their first game. Let's allow them to get a few games under their belt before we crucify them.Im willing to concede some plays but Tampa was CONSISTENTLY getting 5+ yards a pop with Cadillac Williams running the ball which is totally unacceptable add in the fact that Dallas recorded zero sacks and no turnovers. Yes, it will be very physical. The Cowboys lack of depth may come in to play in this game. Watching the Giants, to beat them you have to beat them up and that will not be easy to do because that's what they try to do to you. The Giants passing game is average but they run the ball well. Dallas will need to stop the run and put pressure on Eli who can make some silly mistakes.Speaking of silly mistakes, Romo will get a ton of pressure from the Giants front line. He will have to make plays on the move, something he's good at but something he's also shown can be an achillies heal for him. It's a great test at the beginning of the season for both teams. I think the winner of this game takes a little edge in the division race with the news the McNabb has dinged up ribs. If that injury lingers, that could hurt the Eagles because I don't think Vick is close to ready come week 3 or 4.We're 1-0, there will be 16 teams that aren't after this week so let's enjoy it. Big game against Big Blue next week, would be nice to get a win versus the Giants Sunday night, it would make going to work Monday morning a little easier.Next week facing the Giants at home will be a good litmus test for this team.I hear ya. You're right. We didn't.I fully expect an entirely different gameplan next week vs. the Giants to officially open the new Cowboys Stadium, and Felix Jones will be turned loose. We won this week and I don't even think that we played to our offensive strengths.
The guy above told him that the #2 would basically rotate every week, and that Austin, Crayton, and possibly even Hurd could all be the #2 depending on the opponent and situation. He chose not to listen, so I chose to try a different route since he didn't want to listen to somebody who had taken the time to write an intelligent response.Reacher said:Man you guys are being kinda snappy. The guy just wants to know if you know who the #2 WR is. If you don't know then just don't answer. You don't have to belittle the guy's question. Since he asked who the #2 WR was and not the #2 receiver I would say it is Crayton at this time. It could change as players develop but the safest bet is Crayton. It was nice to get a win. I would have liked to have seen more sacks but Tampa does have a good Oline and they did get some good pressure and hits on the QB. The special teams looked much improved and I really enjoyed seeing those touchbacks.
Fair enough. Although I disagree that his question was irrelevent. Our Tight ends and Running Backs are going to open up the coverage for our WRs. I wasn't a big Crayton guy before but he could easily have his best year and those would be good numbers. The cowboys' WR coach said that Crayton was in the best shape of his life, that his speed had increased and that he was playing better in camp. Crayton was picked up in all of my leagues but if he wasn't I would certainly take a chance on him.The guy above told him that the #2 would basically rotate every week, and that Austin, Crayton, and possibly even Hurd could all be the #2 depending on the opponent and situation. Don't be bummed Mustang Man. It's first game of the season and we won. Keep in mind that this was a new offense and defense that we were facing so we didn't really have any tape to study. We will know all about the Giants when we see them this week. Also Tampa's Oline is excellent and Caddy was running like a man possessed. I have never seen Caddy look so good.Well I did not get to see the game today and was pumped to see they won. I was following it on my phone and all the big plays well let's just say that was pretty exciting. Then I come here to read about what you guys saw and it seems that Dallas really played bad on defense and was lucky that Tampa made mistakes. WOW this is a downer I hope they show up next week or it will be a long day. Good to hear the ST played well today.
