***OFFICIAL Day 3 Draft Thread*** (1 Viewer)

So, Byham goes before Dickerson at TE. Lots of talk about Dwyer slipping but Dickerson is falling rather far too.
They are different types of TE.....Byham is there for his blocking.......Dickerson would be closer to Vernon Davis than Byham
:goodposting: Dwyer to Steelers...that's a great pick there. Time to develop if needed and good 1-2 punch. No pressure to pass protect right away.
great minds Matt.....great minds!!

Why did he slip? Is he too slow for the NFL(Dwyer)? Obviously he lacks something NFL teams look for in a starting RB...was it the gimmick offense that allowed him to put up good stats? I mean, I saw all the draftnicks that had him #1, but I was never impressed when watching Dwyer...what did they see in him one year ago today that they ALL had him as a potential top ten pick?

 Just solid drafting here. I think in most drafts Dwyer would have been a 3rd or 4th round pick, but with the wealth of DBs, DEs, DTs, and WRs, in combo with all the good RBs coming out in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009, Dywer simply wasn't going any earlier.

7.0 average in 2008 and ACC POTY. Showed power and the ability to break big runs.

Yes, I"m aware of the vast differences in their skill make-up but Dickerson was being projected as a 2nd-3rd round player. Byham about where he went, 6th round. Also, D. Briscoe is nowhere to be seen as of yet.

Highlight reel runs, size, and agility. Then they took a closer look at his scheme and the questions started. (at least that's my guess)

Briscoe to the Bengals

I'm guessing Dwyer's head coach didn't exactly praise him to NFL scouts...why would he even say this about a player, even if it is a joke? From Waldman's blog:""Our B back this year was the ACC player of the year. He is a good player, but he could not tell you who is blocking anybody. He might not be able to spell the word cat if you gave him the C and the A. That was a joke. He is a good player and will probably be playing on Sundays eventually."From Georgia Tech's HCNevertheless, he 'aint expected to do much given where he was drafted, if he pans out, so be it, he will be a nice backup to Mendy with a chance to take over somewhere else in 3 years...if not, it doesn't hurt the Steelers...nice pick...I see the same thing happening with LeFavour...Cutler will go down at some point in Martz's O, and he will put up great stats and the Bears will get a nice return for him...just my opinion as I thought LeFavour should have been the #2 QB off the board. Time will tell! Check back in 2015!

Danny Batten to the Bills.....really liked this small school prospect. Great motor and excellent pass rusher, smart guy/good character too

James Starks to the Packers.....makes for an awesome 3rd down threat in the passing game, he will be an interesting dynasty mid to late 2nd rounder.....and looks like Westbrook will end up in St Louis after all.

interesting selection by the Vikings in Joe Webb, I wonder where he projects for them.....QB or WR?

Charles Scott....meh.....I still think Leonard Weaver has more upside

Per usual, I knew nothing of the Vikings 6th round pick but I found his pro day results.

Joe Webb's pro day results: 4.44-second 40-yard dash, 41.5-inch vertical, 11-5 broad jump, 4.04-second short shuttle, 6.71-second 3-cone drill, 21 bench reps at 225 pounds.

As a 49ers fan, all I can say is that Mike Singletary and Trent Baalke are having a great draft......and to think I was concerned with Scot McCloughan's departure.....its been a blessing in disguise

Nobody's taken a chance on Myron Rolle yet? That's a damn shame.

Edit: Ah! There we go.

Just went to the Titans with the last pick of the 6th round
:) Really rooting for that kid.
These are the rounds you can draft a player based on their character and upside, not the 1st round, like the Broncos did with Tebow. Rooting for Rolle, smart kid, what a role model for young athletes to look up to. He put education first. Now that is refreshing.

Cody Grimm.....son of Russ Grimm, looks like he could push Sabby Piscitelli at SS.....well back up SS because I think Sean Jones will start.

ETA: Will be a special teams demon

:lmao: at the OVERRATED chant for Mr. Irrelevant. That was great.
:lmao: I enjoyed that one as well.
That was funny but the punks needed to settled down after that and stop heckling the guy :lmao:Next year we need to send a crew of FBG to keep them in line :boxing:Pondered how crazy it would've been if Rolle ended up being Mr. Irrelevant. Would be an odd juxtaposition with his Rhodes Scholar pedigree. Props to the Titans for the pick, but it's just ridiculous how much he was penalized for that  -QG
