BTW I ran a photo lab back when people still actually used film. I made decent money managing it and became known as the place to take the "artsy" photos of your girlfriend/wife to be developed. Had this guy whose wife was a knock out redhead. He took extremely "artsy" pictures of her. It was like a Christmas bonus every time he came in.
1) awesome

2) how the #### do you become known as the place to take those photos to, especially pre internet? did you wear a badge that said, hi, i accept nude photos of your wives and girlfriends? was there some kind of underground club where people talk about where to get their nudies developed? or maybe you were hooked in with a bunch of swingers and just didnt know it?

There are many farms near West Lake. Knowing the way the Chinese economy works, I would think you could pull into any one of them and ask to strike up a deal. Note that none of them will speak Engrish. But whatever deal you make has to be better than what you would get in the Party store. I went there once and they threw out a price at me and I said, "that's great.. what's the real price?" And I made a counter offer about 1/2 of what their initial offer was. Know what? They wouldn't bargain at all! They actually stuck to their price!! I couldn't f'ing believe it. After that we just went to a farm where they were more willing to negotiate.
I was told the price dropped a lot this year. Auction price might be below the price of gold... Time to stock up!
Sorry, that was back in the Spring. 40% of the tea trees in West Lake died from the extreme heat this summer. Prices will probably be higher next spring. crap.

You do the math.

God forbid my car breakdown.
Been there done that. It's part of life. Stop your damn whining

Oooof....i remember those days in college......Good luck man, an accounting degree will open a lot of doors for you. Quit that job, go work as a bartender or waiter and make double. Follow my path - finish school with a good GPA. Start working at a big accounting firm, get a CPA then quit in 4-5 years where you will go into corporate or in business for yourself. Watch the $470 paycheck turn into $5K paychecks quickly once you actually have relevant work experience. Then once you get older watch those 5K pay checks turn into $10K while you are on cruise control. Start posting on random message boards and enjoying life.
You make it sound so easy...

Guess ishould add that i had no life for 10+ years because i worked 60-70 hours per week. Now i work 30-40.....37 years old and on cruise control if i choose to be.

How big a pay raise is the Shift leader position? How much more work is it? Would you get benefits?

Walgreens isn't exactly a career company, they underpay and overwork their employees from what I hear. Might be time to move on.
I'm guessing around $10.00 an hour. It's much, much less work. It requires you to tell goons like me what to do all day.
what experience, other than your three months in your current role, do you have that makes you qualified to lead a team? This has to be :fishing: by the way.
I was Junior and Senior Class President in High School and owned and operated my own LLC for 9 months.

For that pay, you can just pick whatever retail job has the hottest chicks. Screw promotions. How much more will you really make? And you still have to wear the stupid blue smock. Seriously, just case your local drugstores, supermarkets etc and pick the one with the best looking talent.

Or, maybe wait tables? Solid tip money to be made if you can work your way up to the nicer restaurants in your town. But you've got to hustle, be presentable and not be a ####### whiner.
Worked as a Server at Olive Garden previous to this. Shift Lead pays $11.50.

$1860 a month vs. $1320 a month

Literally, an extra $540 a month. That's rent right there...

How's the bulk ing up going?

Get another job, the guy at Walgreens is a goober.

Don't do hard drugs, they are bad.
I'm up to around 125 lbs. Food is expensive. Got a gym membership right by my work. :)

Wow this thread is going crazy. CVS employee checking in. Former manager as well. We hire new comers off the street at your current pay rate, so I'm going to assume that both companies have a similar pay scale. Shift managers generally are only making an extra dollar or two an hour and for the work you got to do, it's just not worth it man.

I'm 28, and I know while you should feel that you're entitled to every penny you deserve, be careful what you wish for. Management is not worth it. I'm much happier working two jobs than one managerial job that paid a few bucks more, and in the end, I make more money by doing two gigs. Both CVS and my other employer would love to have me back in management, but they aren't going to fool me again. :)

Should you be upset that you were passed on? Yeah, if you genuinely feel you were qualified for it. But companies, especially retail, almost always hire off the streets because a lot of bosses think they can always do better than what they have in house. She'll probably crash and burn, just like the vast majority of them do.

If you really want to move up in the world of retail, you gotta be a job hopper, which is likely what this lady is. Always be on the move. Companies get an erection when they see a resume with a long list of former employers because you can tell them it's "experience."

Jesus, Mary and Joseph! I know the FFA is slipping but who let this guy in here, he makes $8.25/hr. Who does this guy belong to? This is FBG's buddy, we're not employees here, we're Employers. You're 22 years old and you haven't started your own business yet? What are you waiting for? You have 3 choices in life:

1. Be the Job Creator and make the money off the backs of the stupid.

2. Be stupid and make the job creators money while you settle for what they give you.

3. Get yourself a cardboard sign and a Sharpie and pick out a nice off ramp.

At least I can respect #3, no boss, make your own hours, showing a little initiative. You're choosing #2, you got gaffled by an old black lady!!! Wake the F up!!!
4. Make all your wagers on the internet. If you win, you can collect, because most people are honest, the schmucks. If you lose, just refuse to pay.

Get into sales, your degree doesnt matter and you can easily make six figures working 20 hours a week once you build a customer base.

Be willing to do the things that others wont. Be willing to get rejected. And read! Everything you need to know about how to succeed has already been written, just follow those instructions.

But you know what? Most people would rather sit on their butt and complain than do that. And that suits guys like me just fine :)

Well, well, well. Your own LLC, you say? For 9 months? And with enough money after operating expenses to smoke blunts with your buddies and continue working at the Olive Garden? Allow me to give you a key to the executive washroom, Your Eminence.

one of my best friends has a political science degree. it really opened the door to owning a landscaping company
There are a lot of us with poli sci degrees. Most of us are called "lawyers."
Works out great if they actually finish law school. Numbers tell me "most" don't.
Numbers also hell us most who finish, regret it. Me, everyone I know tells me I should have Been a lawyer but I'm not a big fan of paperwork. ;) That said... There is indeed bank to be made practicing law if you're very lucky or willing to work 120hrs a week.

I'm assuming that 125 is your curl and not your bench (or definitely not your body weight)....I'm pretty sure men who've gone through puberty aren't actually capable of weighing 125lbs. Hell I'm 6 feet nothing and I looked like an Ethiopian when I went to college and I weighed 170lbs looking like an emaciated refugee. Many women starve themselves to hit 125.

5. Spend all of your free time on a message board refining your writing skills. One day you could self publish a piece of $%# book called 'Mr. Ishidas Bookstore'. Then follow it up with another book called 'My Wife Left Me For A Mime'. Or you could just post 60,000 plus times and have everyone pity you.

For the record, I'm actually an Honors Student. Was just pissed, got some legit advice from you guys.

I did get designated to take care of the "soda" bay. I suppose I can just work obnoxiously hard and make the new girl look like trash.

So you want more pay with less work? Am I reading this correctly? What a great generation you are part of. Thanks for helping to make this country great again.
Which generation(s) want less pay with more work? 'Cause that would be a really dumb generation.

So I've been drinking this Publix brand green tea...so good.
I've been looking for a good green tea. Is it worth the trek for someone who doesn't live near Publix?
Well, if you come to my Publix here in GA, it definitely is. I know a girl who works there and she gets me the stuff that just came off the truck. She's got a face that would knock a buzzard off a #### wagon, but if you married her, you'd be guaranteed quality store-brand tea for life.

I for one am glad we have our new woz.

Have you ever paid for an ex girlfriends cell phone long after you broke up?

Or had a picture taken looking like a goober holding a yorkie?

Did you miss the part where he was Junior and Senior Class President? Respect the office, man.

Seriously, it sounds like you have made some assumptions on when you might be promoted based on a comment from your boss. Maybe you should just sit down with him. Explain to him you are interested in moving to the next level and ask him to explain the responsibilities.

Promotions are rarely achieved by good work alone. Some times it is going that extra mile that gets you that job you so desire. Have you offered to felate your boss yet?

"Listen, we need to have a discussion. I've been here three ####### months and in that time I have done everything asked of me. MAKE ME ThE BOSS!"

does your employer know you're an honors student? maybe hang up your report card on the fridge in the breakroom to make sure.
