*** Official Detroit Tigers Bandwagon *** (1 Viewer)

I've got to hand it to the Tigers, they've now lost all four games to the White Sox this year.

And lost 8 of 12 last year.

The Sox OWN them.

Alex Cintron.... LOL!!!

Todd Jones sucks.  Give Rodney or Z a chance to close.
Update? The life of a closer is not an easy one. That's two lost games in five days.
It's not like it was a bad pitch. Give Cintron credit for that blast. You put that many people on the basepaths and you are probably going to win. Todd Jones still sucks.

It was the pitch before, that change up that Cintron fouled off, that I thought something good would come from that atbat. You could tell by his recation that he felt good up there. I didn't expect a HR, but as a White Sox fan, certainly a great way to end a frustrating night.

Frustrating night? Try frustrating week!!!

Disappointing to lose in the eigth after getting out of a base-loaded one-out jam in the 7th.Just got my tix yesterday to go see Bonderman next Wed against TB.

what a joke. freakin Cintron. Rodney couldn't find the plate, then a just grooves one.Beginning of the end.

I'm happy that the Tigers are turning the corner and can have a nice season. But their collars are getting tight against the better teams.

I guess the Tigers stole the best player in the entry draft yesterday at the 6 spot.

My problem with last night was that Leyland took "Z" out after he pitched out of the 7th inning jam. He was in a groove and pitching well and then only gets 2/3 of an inning? A couple weeks ago Leyland had spoke of wanting to rotate using Rodney and "Z"on given nights so that either could be ready the next game. Instead he pulls out one, uses the other to what end? To set up Jones? Bad managing there. Leave "Z" in for the 8th and then bring in Rodney in to CLOSE not to set up Jones. This is a costly one.

Bobby Jenks is so money...

White Sox OWN the Tigers: 5-0 this year

Game ending double play couldn't happen to a better guy than Mags too...

For all the talk about how Mags is doing so great this year, Jermaine Dye is not only doing better, but the ENTIRE White Sox outfield combined makes less money than Mags.

WS are better than we are right now.  Their confidence shows.  Long season though.
They were when they swept you in your home opener too....and last year when they spanked you in 8 of 12.
Where did I say that the Tigers were better than the WS? Or is that your modesty showing through?

Ahhhhhhhh, first place is still feeling pretty nice. Best record in baseball....nuff said.

You guys really need to get a new closer. TJ is pathetic...
Agreed. I would have been content if they would have let Bonderman and Zumaya handle the duties tonight. 2 runs and 6 hits between them through 7 innings . If anyone figures out why either one of them was taken out let me know.

Whatever happened to Matt Anderson? He was the #1 OA pick awhile back. He threw 100 MPH.

Pot Smoker and trouble in the clubhouse. Arm troubles also. Still better than todd jones.

Leyland gets all the credit for over managing the team to this loss. I had just finished telling my brother how smart he was to bring in Walker, and then he yanks him after one friggin' out!! Way to micro-manage Trammel.....oh wait,it was Leyland the genius making that move!! Why? Walker is pitching well this season and could have possibly gotten through the inning with no damage done. That was flat out bad managing. At least when I wake up Saturday morning the TIGERS WILL STILL BE IN 1st PLACE!!

We'll have to just deal with the WS fans since there isn't enough of them to start their own thread.

lmfao

Tigers are not that good
:lmao:
Don't kid yourself. We were certainly good enough to hang with the "champs" this week. Actually outscored them through 3 games. 2 extremely tight games and then the last one that wasn't so tight so lyao all you want.

The Tigers are 1-5 against the Sox :loco:
You are correct sir. However, in the context of this thread, they just played a 3 game series . The Sox won 2 really tight games by 1 run. We won the other by 4 runs. My point is simply this: if the Tigers are not that good, then I guess the Sox aren't that good either

3 game series, which is better

W 3-2

W 5-4

L 2-12

OR

L 4-6

L 2-3

W 6-2

I take the two dubya's every time, but Tigers fans might disagree

IIRC, the White Sox had the most 1 run victories of any team last year, so are you saying because of that they weren't that good?

Definitely take the 2 Ws anytime wilked. The suggestion was that the Tigers are not that good though. My response simply looked at the Tigers/Sox series and, given the results of that series, questioned if the Tigers are "not that good", then what does that say about the Sox? Seemed like a pretty close series to me even though the Sox took 2 out of 3.

No. Someone said the Tigers aren't that good. You seemed to endorse it. I simply said that the Tigers just played a series against your team, who happen to be the reigning champs, and lost 2 tight games by 1 run and won the other game by 4 runs. If that means that the Tigers are "not that good" but the Sox are great, then I do take issue with that. In the end, all I'm really trying to say is that the Tigers and Sox had a really good series (until the last game of course). So if you're saying the Tigers aren't that good and the Sox are I guess I don't understand the basis.

All games pretty much count the same in the long run. They don't give out playoff spots based on who you beat, just how many you won. Of course it might mean something in the playoffs, but I'm sure Tiger fans would be happy to deal with that "problem" when the time comes. Lets not forget that this team lost 119 games just 3 years ago, the fact that they are still in first place in the middle of June is something to build on.

The Tigs are for real. Pudge and Mags staying healthy insures them some success and it appears they have decent pitching. Not sure if these guys will go 200 innings each and stay strong but looks like a good race is brewing. Go Sox.

I really used to like Al Kaline, Jim Northrup and Cash was it Norm. And Mickey Lolich one of the all time great hitting pitchers. Not to mention Denny Mclain and his 30 wins. What a team.

Like I said before, enjoy that 2004 WS. You'll never see another one with one of the most disfunctional franchises in the history of sports. I really have no idea why a Red Sox fan would feel the need to come into a Tigers thread to attempt to bring down what has been a great season for us, but then I remembered you're always a D-bag. Anyway, lets look at some key series' for the Red Sox recently shall we. What is the Red Sox payroll again?

NY Yankees W 9-5

NY Yankees L 7-5

NY Yankees L 8-6

at Toronto L 7-6

at Toronto L 8-5

at Toronto W 8-6

at Detroit W 3-2

at Detroit L 6-2

at Detroit W 8-3

at NY Yankees L 13-5

at NY Yankees L 2-1

at NY Yankees Postponed N/A

at NY Yankees W 9-3

They are 7-3 vs Tampa Bay who the Tigers have yet played, and 8-1 against the Orioles. Tough schedule. That is 15-4 against the American League's elite. Red Sox are 20-19 against everyone else. Not impressive for a team with Manny, Big Papi, Shilling, and a bunch of other overpriced pitchers. Huh.

Anyone else impressed by this? Who do you think is better the Orioles, Devil Rays, or the Indians? Huh. I'll bet I know the answer. May I? No, I'll leave it to Wilked (OBTW Indians won the only series between the teams two games to one).

Christ, the Tigers have 5 runs on 2 hits today
I'm listening and Jim Price the color guy for Tigers radio said he can never rememebr seeing that in the 8th inning of a game before. I'm sure it has happened several times, just can't remember listening or seeing a game in my lifetime with a final box score like that. Well lets not hope its final unless its 5 to less than five.

20-20 now.

Well I said at the beginning of this stretch of games that 6-7 would be a good record. Well they went 5-8 and that included three games the bullpen blew.

But they are keeping their heads above water even when they hit a rough patch. They did not play well against the Yanks but played even up with the Red Sox and lost two one run games vs the defending champs. Then they go into Toronto and really dominate all three games except for that terrible 8th inning on Friday night.

At 40-23 I think they are for real and just imagine: If they play .500 the rest of the season they would win 90 games! I'll take .500 from here.
