*** Official Detroit Tigers Bandwagon *** (1 Viewer)

Can't believe the White Sox almost pulled that off last night. Good to bump that lead back up a little bit.

I don't understand why Leyland seems to favor Santiago in the middle over Infante when he needs to rest Polanco.

I'm a Yankees fan, for the record.

But anyone who doesn't believe in the Tigers is missing out.

When a young team faces a Hall-Of-Famer in Roger Clemens, who pitches 6.1 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 2 runs (1 earned) and DOESN'T FLINCH, you might have something there.

If I'm a Tigers fan, I'm happy and I'm thinking '84. I believe that team started something like 35-5 and ended up winning the World Series, sothis squad still has some work to do, but this team does not seem to be going away. The White Sox are in a dog fight the rest of the year and the loser of the AL East (Boston/New York) is probably out of the postseason.

Don'tcha think?

East

Boston 46 28 .622

N.Y. Yankees 43 32 .573

Toronto 42 34 .553

Central

Detroit 53 25 .679

Chicago White Sox 50 26 .658

Minnesota 41 35 .539

West

Oakland 41 35 .539

Texas 40 37 .519

If season ended today (but why would it?) - it would be Tigers vs Oakland & ChiSox vs Boston.

Any early word on Maggs injury? He was takne out after he ran to 1st in the 4th inning
Maggs was removed from the game with an ankle injury or lower leg injury. The announcers were saying he took a foul ball off his ankle or foot the pitch before he got on base

Bases loaded for Thames :excited:

ETA: Ball Four! Now loaded for Orange Crush!

This is just an amazing ride. I don't even know how to take it!

If they go .500 the rest of the season, they'll end up with 95 wins -- and likely the WC!

Should have let Verlander finish it. Oh well.

The Tigers will have two, maybe three, pitchers in the All-Star Game unless Guillen decides to punk them.

DETROIT'S MAGGLIO ORDONEZ LEFT THE GAME IN THE BOTTOM OF THE FOURTH INNING DUE TO A LEFT SHIN CONTUSION.

So who do the Tigers get in the AS game?

My thoughts:

Ordonez

Rodriguez

Rogers

Verlander

Robertson

Not sure if all three starters will make it, but they all should.

Dont sleep on Bonderman to get into the all star game.

He has 100+ K's and his era is not as good as the other 3 detroit pitchers but still like 3.65. His last four outings he has dominated.

My choices:

Maggs

Roger

Bondo

Verlander probably too young hasn't paid his dues, Pudge while 2nd in AL catcher voting, has poor numbers, and I see the guy from the twins going.

If Bonderman makes it over Verlander or Robertson, they'll have gotten shafted. Strikeouts is the only significant category he beats either one in. Verlander is tied for most wins and is third in ERA in the AL. Robertson is right behind in the W column, and is now fourth in the AL in ERA.

Oh yeah, and Pudge definitely shouldn't start, Mauer is clearly the man right now. But I think he should make it as a reserve (currently second in voting).

wont be the first time someone got screwed in the AS game.Bonderman is 15h in ERa and has a better WHIP than Verlandy & Nate. kind of a made up # though.

Sox keep pace with 4-3 win over the Pirates. Pirates had a 3-0 lead until the Sox scored 4 in the 7th. Pirates threatened in the ninth but couldn't do anything with 2 men on.

If you flip over to ESPN2 right now (4 pm EST) the Futures game is on and Humberto Sanchez gets the start.

Humberto gets the start

In Dombrowski we trust.

The Tigers have a wealth of arms in the system right now. Sanchez is another top of the rotation prospect, not to mention Jordan Tata, Will Ledezma and even Zach Miner.

As much as I want them to add a left handed stick for a potential October run, I hope they don't deal any of these top prospects.
