NEGATIVE HOMER VIBES STAY OUT OF THIS THREAD!

Detroit fans are so pessimistic.  Enjoy the season.  This is not supposed to be happening and questioning Rogers and Bonderman is ridiculous.
I see the light.Worls Series bound and picking up steam.
We're all enjoying the season. That doesn't mean you can't comment on some issues the team may be facing.

:hifive: Getting the division is the first step. These guys can do it.

Like what? Questioning Rogers. Guy is the #1 starter and will start games if they make the playoffs. Talking about adjusting something is fine with me. Talking about needs, wants, etc is fine. But this team is built on pitching and Rogers was acquired to be the top of rotation starter and now we have questions after a 11-5 start and an amazing influence he has had on this team. It's stupid.

this team was suppose to win about 75 games. They may get there next week. But after visiting and now forever leaving motownsports.com I'm sick of the sky is falling routine. If they make the playoffs it's amazing. If they win a game in the playoffs its almost unthinkable. If they win a series it is a miracle. I'm not yelling at anyone in particular but I just don't want the same crap I always hear.

This is not the Lions. This team has had a successful past. They aren't snakebitten. They are much better than anyone, I mean anyone could have ever imagined. Nothing but a positive outlook should be associated with this season. If they don't win a game in the playoffs it was a successful year. Just getting there at this moment is enough for me. How any Tiger fan can argue with that? I say it should be zero. All the doom and gloom can be left for the Lions. It's baseball season.

GO TIGERS!

PS: Not a meltdown

From Danny Knobler on WDFN:

Q. Have Leyland or Dombrowski talked about their plan for Justin Verlander in terms of the load they want him to take before the playoffs?

A. They haven't said a specific number of innings or starts, they are just going to see how he feels. It's not an immediate concern because he looks so strong. They could skip Zach Miner this Friday, but they aren't going to because they have an 8 1/2 game lead. You will see a sixth starter soon though.

Q. What would it take for Kenny Rogers to lose his spot as a Game 1 starter in the playoffs?

A. It's a long way off, so Jim Leyland isn't even thinking about that yet. Jeremy Bonderman and Justin Verlander give the Tigers the best chance to win right now, yes. Even though Rogers hasn't pitched well recently, he has had some of the most important wins, especially versus the White Sox.

Q. Has Leyland ever said Kenny Rogers is struggling?

A. Leyland and Kenny are both very honest about his struggles. Rogers has made jokes about it even -- he knows. But he is also very serious and and confident that he'll come out of it. He understands the situation.

Q. If they were to get Alfonso Soriano, who would Dave Dombrowski give up in the majors or in the farm system?

A. Washington would be most interested in young players. There is no way the Tigers are giving up Zumaya, Verlander or Bonderman for Soriano or for Carlos Lee either. Baltimore enquired about trading Miguel Tejada for Bonderman or Verlander and that was not going to happen. The Tigers are willing to talk about dealing Craig Monroe, Marcus Thames or Humberto Sanchez. Cameron Maybin is very unlikely. They have guys they can trade to get Soriano or Lee -- they potentially could.

Q. The Humberto Sanchez arm trouble was legit?

A. It was legit. He played catch Wednesday, he's on a throwing program and feeling 'much better'. They won't say if he'll pitch in the next few days. You wouldn't pull a guy from a start unless you already have a deal done. You want teams to see him -- you would raise red flags if you pulled him from a start. So I believe he legitimately had a sore arm.

Q. Dmitri Young has been good in his return -- but would he be back next year?

A. I'd be surprised if he's back next year. You never know but I don't expect it.

Q. Shouldn't the Tigers look at picking up another pitcher at the deadline?

A. No. There is no good pitching out there. The best you could get is a Jon Lieber and he would cost too much because too many teams are looking for pitching. They wouldn't give up much to get more pitching. Even if Miner doesn't pitch well, they can live with that since the other guys are pitching so well and Maroth is coming back soon.

Interesting. Sanchez is going to throw a simulated game before he returns but from everything I've read (I'm very concerned) they will not even come close to pushing him. Hopefully we get to see him in September but him at 100 percent next Spring is the goal. He's the #5 guy next year.

Twins are up 3-0 in the 4th.
I'm not sure this is a good thing for Tiger fans.
7-3Consider me more worried about the twinkies than the Chisox
No way. No way in hell.
No way in hell?Any team that has Buehrle as a starter is in BIG trouble.

This guy just completely SUCKS!

Another great outing yesterday.

How did he make the All-Star team?

His last 5 outings?

26 2/3 IP

47 H

34 R

1.95 WHIP

11.47 ERA

This guy is simply terrible and it doesn't look like he's getting any better. Nice clutch performance in a big Twins/Sox game.

2-2. Craig Monroe showed me something in the second when he didn't run out a double play ball. Maybe he slipped in the box.

Monroe is gone next year. Thank God for one year contracts. Unless they make a trade how can you sit Thames?

:bye: Craig. Got to be my least favorite Tiger although he can really "belt" it. I think Monroe is just getting a look right now. He's gone.

Also why start Young and Guillen? Why not DH Thames or I-Rod here? Also I'm praying Maroth comes back.

OBTW:

Right about: Maroth, Rogers, Verlander, Thames, and Granderson

Wrong about: Leyland, Inge, and their projected record. But who wasn't?

I had come back to the office to get some work done a few hours ago (auditors arrive on Monday). Work's finished ...but I can't pull away from tracking the game on the innernet! Is this game on ESPN? If so, I can be home in 5 minutes to watch it there with beer in hand.

Great Game!!!

edit: just got better ...Tigers score!

Great win tonight. Coming into this weekend, I was just hoping we'd win 1 of 3. To win with Minor v. Liriano -- well, that's the last game I thought we'd win!

BLESS YOU BOYS!!
