*** Official Detroit Tigers Bandwagon *** (2 Viewers)

Guillen makes the final out. Not a good game for Carlos today. :lmao: at Rogers being the player of the game. Shows what really happened. Not a good loss but they need to play in these kind of games if they have a chance at winning a championship. Still have a six and a half game lead. I'll take that and then some at this stage in the season.
By the way all 3 runs off of Buehrle came after Uribe should have gotten a DP as well. Iguchi made a couple of stellar plays at 2nd. Anderson came through with a great clutch hit. Buehrle 7 k's in first 3 innings. Great bullpen work from the Sox. Heart of Tigs lineup up and down meekly in the 9th. Guillen makes a Valentin like 21st error on season in BIG game. Those were some of the high spots of what really happened in the Chisox 8th win in 11 tries against the Tigs. Go Sox.
The Uribe play wasn't an error and Rogers outpitched Buehrle but really, who hasn't.Good points from there. Tigers don't have enough offense to keep up with the likes of the Red or White Sux0r or the Yankees. That will be a problem addressed in the off-season but there is nothing they can do now. The Tigers have also not played in any meaningful games in so long that it's hard for even the fans to comprehend. I don't really see this losing streak as a problem but as a test. They have to be able to keep their heads straight when they play teams like the White Sux0r or they will be finding their asses quickly out of the playoffs. Good win for the Sux0r today and a bad loss for the Tigers but this team has surprised the good Tiger fans all year. I'm just happy to be having a conversation with the words "Tigers" and "playoffs" in the same sentence.

88 more years of pain ahead.

Also did you see how Leyland :own3d: Guillen today? More of that to come if the Suxor make the playoffs. :bye:

This Tigers team wasn't supposed to win 80 games.
If Leyland :own3d: Guillen, then who won?And who is this Mr. Standings in Early August Boy?

Didn't say it was an error due to the fc they ended up with but it definately cost the Sox the 3 runs that followed in the inning.

Rogers didn't pitch himself out of the trouble his D caused him thus Tigs lose.

The Sox have got the minimum they needed out of the last 2 series and I'm hoping they are getting their heads out of their hineys and playing to their potential finally.

8 or 9 game winning streak anyone?

Congrats to the Tigs fans for a great season to this point.

Go Sox.

 Nice to be defending champs isn't it? At this point I'm not rooting for anyone to get into any position for the playoffs but I'd prefer the WS did not make it. For me having them AND one of the Yankees and RS out would be the best scenario. However, since I cannot properly comprehend playoff races since I haven't seen one with my team since the late 1980s, I'll just root for the Tigers and let the pieces fall where they will. It's such a long and intriguing season with tons of sidebars that I'm not jumping to any conclusions. Just know the Tigers are in first in August.

If the White Sox can win tomorow, and they SHOULD win, being at home vs a struggling Detroit team with their worst starter on the mound. IF the White Sox are able to cut the lead down to 5.5, they have 4 vs. KC where a sweep is certainly a good possibility, while the Tigers have to play at Boston.IF the White Sox wing Sunday vs. Detroit, take 3 out of 4 vs. KC, and Detroit, loses 2 out of 3 at Boston (I don't that is unreasonable), this lead is suddenly down to just 4 games...Of course, this is all assuming that Freddy Garcia can keep Detroit struggling on offense, and the White Sox can handle Zach Minor...

Hey Doc, learn to count pal... Your very own monosyllabic drivel humors me. Answer my question, if Leyland OWNS Guillen, then how come Guillen has won more games head to head? Including today when he allegedly 'owned' Guillen.

Why so sloppy lately?

EDIT: Nevermind, I thought Granderson dropped that. Nice catch.

Good job by the WS. They did what they had to do. Looks like home field advantage may play a factor if they meet in the playoffs.

What position did you play last year?
Doesn't matter... I was first in line for one of these today....Boy that double digit lead in games ahead has suddenly shrunken to a 5.5.

Collars are getting a little tight in Motown eh?
:lmao: Every fan that was waving one of those at Comiskey had the wife beater tank top on. And it got even classier when they got the "Detroit Sucks" chant going. Not a soul acting like they've been there b4.

The one fan you saw all game with a broom was a well dressed older man right behind home plateSo #### with your "every fan" BS.

And remember, we can go to bed every night reminding ourselves that the south side might not be the best place in the world, but at least its not Detriot

Yup, when all else fails "bash Detroit". Just telling you what I saw on tv.

If I was a Tigers fan, I'd focus on everything going on OUTSIDE of the lines too....

Who owns Ozzie Guillen now? That chain smokin' quitter in the Tigers dugout?

LoL at "quitter" Leyland. Leyland has more class on his pinky than Guillen does in his whole body. No denying that. Let's not get started on Ken Williams either.

I'm pretty sure it all started when the WS had to forfeit to the Tigers at Disco Demolition night. ;)

No edits/deletes. You were dead on!
Sorry. It's true that I've always heard he was a tool in certain circles and had the respect of no one outside his family, but I didn't want to say that and sink to his fourth grade level. Most of the WS fans here are pretty good folks who know the game who I like to spar with. One exception to the rule is unfortunate but reasonable. I'm sure he cries himself to sleep quite often.

Completely agree. It gets a bit stinky when he is in the room.

Looking through their schedule it appears that there is going to be a stretch in August that should give a pretty good indication of whether or not they are going to make the playoffs...@Chicago, @Boston, Texas, Chicago, @Cleveland, @ NYY
 Off to a rough start, should be a good series between them and Boston. With the Royals in for 4 at Comiskey, this lead could shrink quickly. As long as the White Sox take care of business, they are picking up ground on one of these two teams.

Fact: Leyland quit on Colorado after one season, and two years left on his contract.

So every manager/coach that leaves w/o fulfilling his contract is a "quitter"? Whatever.

Absolutely. If you signed a contract, if you don't live up to it - then you're basically quitting. WTF... Oh... I get it, because it's a DETROIT employee I'm talking about you've got a problem with it.Barry Sanders was another quitter btw. I'm glad he had to pay back his bonus money too.

So burnout or other mitigating circumstances are not allowed to figure into it?
However, no one really noted that Leyland left $4 million on the table to walk away and go home. At the same time, the questions about whether he might do it again remain. After all, Leyland made it known that the money does not motivate him.

"I don't know that I can convince anybody. I want to address this issue while I'm here, and I want to make this perfectly clear. I didn't a lousy job in Colorado. I was never treated better. They did everything to make it convenient for you, and it just wasn't there. I was burned out," Leyland said. "I don't know if it's because it came after the big World Series, but it had nothing to do with the Colorado organization. In my heart, at that time, I was done, and I was, and I believe in my heart now that I am ready and I am."
Better to quit than to take the money and do a half ### job.

Lost some respect for GRIDIRON these last few posts.LOL at "not living up to contracts"....it happens all the time.

Against what I consider the 3 best teams other than Detroit in the AL (Boston, NYY, CWS) Det is now 5-12.

That said, they have done what others didn't which is handle bad teams extremely well. Just an interesting note

I think Keerock said it earlier in this thread: the Tigers are living by the #1 rule in sports and are beating the teams that they should. For the most part that has been true this season and has had a big deal in their success. Also having the best ERA in baseball doesn't hurt also.

Has it already been pointed out that Detroit had the best regular season record in both basketball and hockey, yet choked in the playoffs, or do I get to claim first mention?

Michael Jordan=quitter when he left the Bulls to play baseball.
True dat.He quit and didn't give the Bulls any time to plan. I'm sure his dad getting brutally murdered months earlier didn't help - but a contracts a contract. The real shame is he retired when the White Sox were in the playoffs, which took all the attention away from them.

Wow, I hope I can sleep tonight knowing this... I'm pretty black and white when it comes to contractual obligations. And had some Tigers fan not posted anything about White Sox fans, I probably would have never taken a shot at Leyland. But that shot is indeed a fact....and I'm still waiting to hear how Leyland 'owned' Guillen.... 3-9 against Ozzie this year so far.

I was actually at that game where he threw out the first pitch. At the time, I doubt if any fan in the park really knew what was happening. Then the mumbles started. By the end of the game, everyone knew.

On top of this, Detroit has only been swept in 2 series this year. Both against the White Sox :banned:

Just to get some facts straight. There were several fights in the stands on Saturday. Section 154 and 150 were especially entertaining. I saw at least 8 Detroit fans escorted out and one got pounded before security intervened. . All Detroit Sucks chants were directed at chumps giving us the finger on their way out. It appears the fans are getting a little frustrated with their play of late. You have to admit Detroit did suck this weekend. They handed us runs in all three games.

Those bitter Sox fans take their lead from those idiot Piston players that walked off the court without congratulating the Chicago Bulls back in the day.

Boy Robertson has been clutch hasn't he? Since the WS may not lose again this month there is some pressure which to me is not a bad thing. If the Tigers want to be a championship team they have to start playing playoff baseball now. Good win tonight.

Dimitri Young is looking good.

Sean Casey>Welcome

Vance Wilson>Hey guy...ah....nice year.

Also we are planning a cornhole in the D. Thought I might link it here . :bye:

Which city lights their city on fire every year? After championships? Man alive, I wish Chicago acted mature like the folks in Motown.

Why does this thread still say the Tigers are up by 7 1/2 btw? More Motown dreamin....

2 straight Boys and girls. But tell me....

You were holding your breath that whole half inning weren't you. Jonsey still makes me nervous.
