Official Dez Bryant (2 Viewers)

Dez Bryant - WR - Cowboys
Cowboys rookie QB Dak Prescott said he is not going to force the ball to Dez Bryant.
Prescott said Bryant needs to be more involved, but he is not going to force throws just to get him targets. "I’m going to continue to run our offense," the rookie said. "If Dez is the read, Dez is the read." After Bryant saw just five targets -- a full seven fewer than Cole Beasley -- Week 1 against the Giants, the Cowboys need to get their star receiver more involved this week.

This is what I was worried about coming into the season. The Cowboys have no desire to get Dez the ball. Why? No idea. Hard to see him as anything more than a WR2 the rest of the way.

You are reading into this way too much. Did you just forget the last 3 seasons before his injury plagued 2015. This is all team speak. He is a rookie. He is giving standard rookie "do what's best for the team, stick to the game plan and run our offense". Believe you and me.....Prescott will be looking for Dez plenty. Starting this week.

Sit tight. He is a difference maker and will take over games this year as I expect him too. There are very few corners in this league who can match up with him. He is a physical force and will be a top 5-6 WR playing all 16 games. If the Cowboys have any hope of winning that division....Dez Bryant is a huge part of that hope. Not COle Beasley, Not Terrance Williams, and not a rookie RB. Dez is the best weapon they have in the passing game. He will be used plenty. The Cowboys know this. "Yeah let's avoid getting our star WR too many looks.....it will cost us games" Just listen to what you are saying.

Dez sees less targets than all the other top WRs. Go look at his target numbers from the last few seasons. He thrives on his TD numbers. If the Cowboys aren't going to target him often, you're going to have to rely on his TD numbers to stay where they have been. I don't see Prescott throwing 30+ TDs this season.

Then I guess we are doomed.

I take a different approach. I am trying to get Dez anywhere and everywhere I can. Got him for Abdullah after this past week panic in one league.

Dak clearly does not know who he plays for and Dak does not know he is nothing special and Dez is. Dak is a backup QB playing now, because the star is down. A star because he knows who to throw the ball too. And then there is Jerry. Jerry listens to the people who spend money and those who spend money want to see Dez because they know when he is involved they win.

The play here is Dak will learn his lesson the hard way and like any rookie who disrespects the star on his team, will be forcefully humbled.
You threw to Beasley and Witten and got nothing while losing. That game was winnable, he just didnt force to a guy that makes plays. He forced it to those who dont.
Edit: You can tell this guy is a rookie by this answer.

Technically, Prescott did enough to win the game. Not his fault Terrance Williams didn't run out of bounds.

Yep. That is my point. They are not winning unless Dez Bryant is one of the focal points. And yes he scores TD's...but he is highly efficient on less targets than other #1WR's in this league.

If you are Dak, you better force the ball to Dez. Your career is riding on it. QBs who throw for 220 yards and no TDs who lose grow on trees. Look what Stafford did with Calvin, he made a career and a lot of money forcing the ball to his star player. Dont get arrogant Dak, you are in Dallas. You will be humbled quick by those fans after a loss.

This one can go either way. They force feed Bryant after last week's Dak Dink & Dunk show vs. Norman sticks to him like glue after last weeks' WASH. stupid D coaching.

Dez concerns me this week and I am starting Cooks and Cooper over him.  Dez as my flex is my concern and right now he is on the bench behind Doug Martin and D. Murray.

Not expecting a great day from Dez this week but whatever, they'll draw a few plays for him but nothing impactful or risky. Playing the long ball here and hoping Dallas figures it out. 5 catches for 48 yds 0 TDs.

Despite the results and media talking points following week 1, Breeland is a good corner who has had success against Dez in the past.  Regardless of whether its Norman or Breeland covering Dez, I don't think this is the week he puts up WR1 numbers.  If the Skins allow the Cowboys to create matchups for Dez in the slot away from those 2 then all bets are off.

But both Norman and Breeland's style of play position them well to limit Dez's effectiveness tomorrow.

You act as if force feeding Calvin made Stafford or the lions any good. It didn't. Arguably stunted Stafford's growth too.  Not to mention dak doesn't have half the arm or pedigree that staff does. Force feeding a guy who often gets triple teamed is a recipe for failure. Also Calvin is way better than dez ever was.

I'm thinking the concern here isn't if he will put up W1 numbers but if he won't put up WR3 numbers.

eta - Prescott 5.0 ypa, longest completion all day was to Butler, after that 14 to Williams. Not good.

I can only think the reason is the Cowboys don't think Prescott can regularly do intermediate to long throws without a good chance of a pick or sack.

According to ESPN's Ed Werder, the Cowboys are working to create new routes for Dez Bryant so that he can "get open quickly."
The routes are also designed to make things simpler for Dak Prescott, who looked lost at times in Week 1. The Cowboys need to get Bryant more involved after only going to him four times in the opener. It looks like Bryant will avoid Josh Norman, which also boosts his fantasy stock. He's a high-upside WR2.

How dumb is this coaching staff?  Hey everybody...we are planning to throw more to Dez and quickly into his routes. So dumb.

Shutout said:
On face value I would take it as very little concern and the mri is just an afterthought.  He did return to the game and we have not heard a concern since.
On his touchdown, he had to put a lot of stress on that outside knee to make the fake from an outside route to an inside slant.

It didn't seem to bother him.

"I don't want it to sound any way,” Jones said. “I'm always concerned. We'll monitor him … We'll monitor him through the day. It may be later in the day we'll do an MRI. If he does, we'll give the results."
Still no word on the results. Chances Dez doesn't take a MRI at all and decides to just play this Sunday?

I listened to the podcasts today and they stated matter of factly that Dez is just a "bad patient". He has the mindset that hes fine and you have to twist his arm to get him to go see the doctor.

Jesus, when do we get these MRI results.  The longer it is taking the more I am losing faith that it is just a BS injury!  Patiently waiting to hear he is done for the year!

This is becoming very strange.
Just to expand on this.  Garrett was asked about all the other players with injuries.  Had the same tone and answer "taking it day by day".  Just illustrating that he's not treating the news differently with Dez.  Seems to be the way it is this year with him.  He won't expand on injury analysis.  Just gives a general feedback for all injuries.

So from today's press conference, what we know is Dez won't practice today.  And they are taking it day by day with him.

Hmmmm.... they said JJ Watt was just taking a day off on Monday, and then look at what has come out. Not saying this will happen with Dez, but......

Dez Bryant - Dallas Cowboys has a bruised bone injury from the Chicago Bear game. Likely out 2 weeks

from the twitter machine

no other confirmation

At least quote your twitter source. There are many fake accounts easily identified as such.
Hey, I said there was no other confirmation

twitter is like checking web md when you're not feeling well...you go in thinking you've got a cold, but read a little and find out you've got full blown aids

Jason Garrett says Dez Bryant has a hairline fracture in his knee but calls it day by day, week by week thing. Hopeful he can play vs 49ers
