Official Dez Bryant (1 Viewer)

In the end I did start him. Looking at my squad it was either benching Dez or Tate and Tate is on the road vs a Baltimore D that has been pretty tough vs. the pass as of late.

But it looks like this is as high a ceiling for him, which is not corresponding to his draft position. . I'll take the points for this week and move on.

Agreed that he is nowhere near a wr1, more like a low ceiling wr2 or wr3..but I think it is serviceable.  He is still an absolute beast in the red zone Probably never going to see 100+ yards. though.

LOL!  Yeah, I hear you.  Like I said, started with NO confidence. I was not going to start him, read tags article, dismissed it, pondered it, picked up another wr, and then finally went with it 15 minutes before kickoff. Watched the first quarter, regretted it, started making the noose...and then the Cowboys woke up.

Playing FFL, you see a lot of opinions and articles that are just fluff, I guess weeding out the well thought out predictions and opinions is they key.  There is too many "I got a hunch" articles; but I like these where they explain their reasoning in football reality.

I'll be sure to post prior to the game...that being said, I like Dez moving forward, pretty touchdown dependent, but he get's a lot of red zone looks (when the Cowboys actually get in the red zone.....), he might be heating up!
He’s #1 in red zone targets.

Tex

Nobody cares about my team:

I sat Dez last night going against a division opponent in a must win game.  I also sat Dez in week 2 (he played @ DEN) against this same opponent and which cost me the game.  I have a very bad feeling that's going to happen again :kicksrock:

As a Cowboy lifer and a huge Dez fan, it hurts me to say this, but he is really, is no more than a borderline WR 2 or 3 for fantasy purposes. There is little chemistry between Dak and Dez. They have had two years to find a rythum and have failed to do so.

I’m not overly enthused on the long term prognosis for Dez either. Dak really was exposed for what he is, a slightly above average quarterback who richly benefits from a great line and an elite rb in Zeke.

if you can get full value for Dez, you should move him, but that is unlikely. At this point, he is a hold.

Never again for me.  I drink the coolaid almost every year because he tends to fall.  FBG always has him rated highly in the dominator and my gut always tells me not to take him.  Yet i take him over and over and over again.

The guy is cooked (I'm not even sure he was ever that good).

OR....

Defenses have realized that Dez is awful and can be easily shut down with very little help. Defenses focus on the run first, then Witten and Beasley and allow Dez to be the hot read on every play. Teams are BEGGING Dak to throw it to Dez because even on the rare occasion he manages to get separation, odds are he'll drop it even if it hits him in the hands.

You add in that he's both immature and dumber than an amazon box and it's an easy decision to cut or at least demote him.

He would be even more of a headache if you demoted him. I think the Cowboys are better off if they just cut him.

30 million on WRs. TWill and Beasley more at risk.

I think free agency has shown that 88s contract is not that bad.

Looks like they could save about $2.25M by cutting Williams and about $3.25M by cutting Beasley. And they have Switzer, who seems like he could slide right into Beasley's role, right? So maybe Beasley is at risk.

12.5M salary and a 16.5M cap hit.

He has a career average of 66 yards a game.

The past three years he averaged 54 yards a game.

His career catch percentage is 58.

He has played eight seasons and will turn 30 this year.

Depending on the draft and the rest of free agency Dallas may decide he is not worth keeping even at a reduced salary.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones says the team "still needs" to talk to Dez Bryant about his contract.

Jones apparently also "left the door open" for the Cowboys to take a receiver at No. 19 overall. The Cowboys are publicly putting the squeeze on a player they want to slash his $12.5 million salary. Bryant's outright release would seem to be on the table. Bryant turns 30 in November.

Yahoo Sports' Jordan Schultz stated matter-of-factly that he anticipates the Cowboys will release Dez Bryant after the draft.

"The Cowboys will cut Dez Bryant, after the draft, but make no mistake -- they will cut him," Schultz tweeted Tuesday. As of two weeks ago, the Cowboys had reportedly yet to approach Bryant about taking a pay cut from the scheduled $12.5 million salary he's set to earn in 2018. But on Monday, EVP Stephen Jones said a talk with Bryant "still needs" to happen. The Cowboys recently added Allen Hurns and are apparently open to taking a receiver early in next month's draft. Bryant carries a $16.5 million cap number, and Dallas can clear $12.5 million by making him a post-June 1 cut. The 29-year-old would not struggle to find a new team.

Dez never really was a target hog in his career which makes it hard to put up those insane numbers that Brown and Hopkins has put up with so many targets.

Brown has had seasons of 193, 181, 166 and 162 targets.

Hopkins has had seasons of 192 and 174 targets.

Dez had 1 season with 159 targets after that he had only 138 and 136 in his prime when he was on his magical 3 year run from 2012 to 2014.

Dez was a monster in the red zone with 41 TD's over those 3 years was never a high catch guy.

Maybe Dez can pull a Randy Moss remember when Moss was considered over the hill then went to NE and posted the best WR year in the history of the NFL at age 30 with 23 TD's.
