   I was watching "The Five" yesterday afternoon.  Complete dismissal of the polls.  "They're only a snapshot in time" and "How can you trust people answering a random phone call.  These aren't people actually voting".  Sad, really.
I mean, do you thin people are really energized to vote for Clinton? I bet a lot of people stay home come Election Day.

There's a decent chunk of the electorate who's energized to vote for Clinton. I think by the time Nov rolls around there will also be a ton of people energized to vote to keep Trump from being President.

And they will be voting Gary Johnson into office to do just that ;)

I think there will be a lot of energized people who will vote for Hillary because they want to see Trump not only lose but be absolutely crushed- among these, in particular Latinos.

When I was in Puerto Rico the other day someone (not me!) asked our tour guide about Trump- she said that he had managed a feat that nobody else had ever achieved- to unite all 3 of their political parties over there. It doesn't mean anything because they can't vote in the general election (yet!) but there are over 800,000 Puerto Ricans in Florida, and they are energized.

I would love to see Johnson do well in this election. I'd love to see any and every 3rd party (are they really 3rd parties at that point) do well this election. In country this size with this diversity, it's laughable to think we're getting quality representation from just 2 parties.  I haven't decided if I'm going  3rd party with my vote yet, depends on how I end up feeling about what would send the most effective anti-Trump message. Doing the various "who you align with" tests among the remaining candidates, I still align most closely with HRC, Stien next. Johnson's pretty far down the list for me, so he probably wouldn't be my 3rd party vote anyway. Really don't like HRC though. Not a fun election in terms of deciding what to do with my vote.

Listening to Trump speak right now and it's clear that someone finally got through to him and convinced him to just read these words. I'm sure it won't last long but it's a noticeable difference.

Trump just admitted he says things all the time that he regrets ...and hes sorry for causing any personal pain...thats the first time hes ever done that

I'd love to see third parties do end this mutually assured blackmail we have that has brought two unfit for office candidates IMHO....

This is a bad narrative for both candidates. People are motivated for a candidate and not against one.

Usually, yes. I'm not sure who I'm going to vote for yet. I may go 3rd party because I'm not a particularly big Hillary fan, but I may vote for Hillary just because Trump is so odious I want the win to be by as big of a margin as possible.
In a normal election it definitely holds true but this isn't a normal year.,I really don't think anyone knows what will happen on Election Day right now. At this time Dukakis was up by 17 , things happen

What a dickwad.

Seriously he should either just be quiet and say the people have spoken or something or just blast Trump if he thinks he's a dope.
I can't believe that Trump has driven you so insane that you think that parody is reality.

Come on, buddy! Washington will go Blue no matter how you vote, and it's the electoral college that matters

They have groups and organizations now posing as 'alt right' or 'nationalist' which try to appear outwardly neutral without any indicia of supremacist or racist agenda. This is sort of what's going on at Breitbart under Bannon now.
Maybe they could score some sativia and mellow out a bit

Couldn't do it...Couldn't add the link of the Trump Statue in NYC  :X

Going for "The Emperor has no clothes" look
I'm a few hours behind, so this may have already been posted, but the NYC Parks response was classic

"NYC Parks stands firmly against any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small.”

im sorry...could you repeat that again ?
sorry, I'll use smaller words and spell it out for the Trumpies.

If Trump was just a typical poor candidate, I would be voting 3rd party becasue I really don't think Hillary is fit to be president and I don't want to vote for her, but the country would be fine either way.  We have survived bad presidents before, we will survive bad presidents again.  However, I believe that Trump would do massive damage to our country in terms of foreign relations, economics, race relations, pretty much any dimension you would measure a president by.  Therefore, I have to hold my nose and vote for Hillary - just to do everything I can to prevent a Trump presidency.

Do you live in a battleground state?

dude...you posted the same thing twice lol

And likewise, I was planning to vote for Johnson since I don't live in a swing state...except amazingly Georgia is now in play. So I feel a moral duty to vote for the serial liar and influence peddler, to prevent the unstable authoritarian from potentially ending civilization. U! S! A!
If the south is in play, Trump has no chance.

I'm a little worried. Planning a GJ vote, but if the Trump implosion continues, TX might actually be close.  That will be a dilemma.

proninja said:
This is my normal rationale, and a big reason why I voted for GJ in '12. Washington is going to go blue anyway, so I think my vote matters *more* for a third party than it does for either of the 2 majors.

But I want the world to see Trump repudiated strongly by our electorate. He is *so* far beyond the pale and I am *so* disgusted by him and everything he stands for that I may hold my nose and vote for Hillary.

So really I have no idea what I'm doing.
A vote for GJ is a repudiation too.

Trump has started spending money on negative ads! Seeing a lot here in Florida, here come positive poll numbers.

Keep living the dream,  Em.  This thread would only be a shade of itself without you.

"Never give up! Never,  never,  never give up! "

-Sir Winston Churchill

But seriously, Em can choose not to worry but Puerto Ricans won Florida for Obama twice. And there's a lot more of them in the state now than there were in 2012.

It would be great to see 4 or more legitimate party choices (after the election, sorry Don your too crazy). We should make these people work harder for votes. Lesser of two evils isn't a terrific decision making mechanism.
We have 4 (mostly) legitimate parties in Canada but they're still not really equal. We still have the Liberal (US democrat party equiv. but centrist in Canadian terms.. but our centre is way left of yours) and Conservative parties that for the most part are seen as the two primary options. You get the same damn conversations all the time about, "I'd love to vote for (one of the others) but I'm afraid of vote-splitting".

In 2011, the (left of the Liberals) NDP party formed the official opposition (2nd most representatives in house) - opposing a Conservative government. They may have been in a great position to win in 2015 but their leader died of cancer and they had really no one to step in and rather than jumping up to form the government, they slipped to 3rd (but with the Liberal party now in power). They've held 6 of the 10 Canadian provinces at one time or another but despite that credibility when it comes to election time, a lot of people still go Liberal, and what the hell, centrist is fine for most. At one point the right wing was broken into two different but competing Conservative parties but all that did was guarantee neither would ever win, likely the same as would happen for you in the States.

The 4th party is the (separatist) Bloc Quebecois who have formed the official opposition in the 90s and 00s but have lost some momentum lately. I do think having the 4 parties results in a lot more coalitions and working together between the parties than there appears to be in the USA.

Now that I've said that, some other Canadian will come in and talk about how Justin Trudeau is a terrible leader, etc... because politics is really the same everywhere.

Yeah but,  Canadian politics only counts for,  what,  2/3 of American politics?
