the only thing we as a nation could hope for if this man is elected is that his personal interests somehow mirror the needs we have as a nation..
"In my first 100 days, I will reduce taxes for every American who gets paid to put his name on golf courses and hotels.  This is my promise to America"

It's sad that they're angry about being lied to their entire life and then fall for the biggest liar in history.  All the politicians lie because people want to be told everything will be alright.  They can't accept the truth that when a steel plant closes due to global competition that it's never coming back and the workers will have to be re-trained for other jobs.  Rather than accept that they just get mad that there aren't any steel jobs.
Watching a recap of the big stories of the election so far and one was the coal minor confronting Clinton about saying how she wanted to get rid of all coal jobs.  Now, obviously Hilldog should have thought better of saying that, but the real takeaway for me was the fact that this coal minor was interested only in hearing about how the mine and the associated jobs could be brought back.  Hard as it may be, American workers have to realize that certain industries are gone and not coming back.  These workers need to retool themselves and stop relying on the government.  When I first started working, we used green bar paper.  If I hadn't learned how to use computers I'd have been out of a job.

Jobs which involve repetitive tasks will be the first to go.  It's why everyone should become more thoughtful.

Absolutely -- but the government can certainly ease their transition through helping out with education / training and social safety nets. The results of are absolutely devastating otherwise.

One of my Facebook friends just posted a picture of a guy at a Trump rally holding a sign that says, "Trump, the man who gave up his billionaire lifestyle to be humiliated, ridiculed, and slandered to save the American people"

And then he personally added, "That's what people don't realize. This guy is making a huge sacrifice for us".  Bwahahaha  And he wasn't trolling!!  Some of these knuickleheads believe Trump is a good guy. :lmao:

Trump is really playing up the messianic angle at his rallies of late from what I've read. Seems like some of his followers are falling for it.
For God so loved the world he sent his only begotten son to sell Chinese-made hats and over-charge his campaign for the use of his hotels.

In polling he takes more from Hillary.  When polls include 3rd party candidates it's always a little closer.  I think there are a number of single issue voters among young people (legalization) that support Gary.

I do see Righetti's point.  When you vote 3rd party, you always get to wash your hands of anything bad that happens.  Don't blame me I voted for this guy I knew had no chance whatsoever.  And they rarely have any serious baggage because nobody knows anything about them.  The press isn't going to bother digging up dirt on candidates that don't matter.  So you always get to vote for the "good guy".  It's not a bad way to live.
For all the Weld (smart half of the Libertarian ticket) fans. Here' an interesting statement from him:

...“Mr. Trump has some charisma and panache, and intellectual quickness. These qualities can be entertaining. Yet more than charisma, more even than intellectual ability, is required of a serious candidate for this country’s highest office. A serious candidate for the Presidency of the United States must be stable, and Donald Trump is not stable.

“Throughout this campaign, Mr. Trump has demonstrated an inability to handle criticism or blame well. His first instinct is to lash out at others. When challenged, he often responds as a child might. He makes a sour face, he calls people by insulting names, he waves his arms, he impatiently interrupts. Most families would not allow their children to remain at the dinner table if they behaved as Mr. Trump does. He has not exhibited the self-control, the discipline, or the emotional depth necessary to function credibly as a President of the United States.

“From the beginning of his campaign, Mr. Trump has conjured up enemies. First it was eleven million criminals in our midst, all bent on obtaining the benefits of citizenship, at our expense. Over time, the enemies became any trading partner of the United States. He says they are nothing but foreigners seeking to threaten our livelihoods. Now we have reached the point where his idea of America’s enemies includes almost anyone who talks or looks different from him. The goal of the Trump campaign, from the outset, has been to stir up envy, resentment, and group hatred.

“This is the worst of American politics. I fear for our cohesion as a nation, and for our place in the world, if this man who is unwilling to say he will abide by the result of our national election becomes our President.

“This great nation has weathered policy differences throughout our history, and we will do so again. Not in my lifetime, though, has there been a candidate for President who actually makes me fear for the ultimate well-being of the country, a candidate who might in fact put at risk the solid foundation of America that allows us to endure even ill-advised policies and the normal ebb and flow of politics.

“In the final days of this very close race, every citizen must be aware of the power and responsibility of each individual vote. This is not the time to cast a jocular or feel-good vote for a man whom you may have briefly found entertaining. Donald Trump should not, cannot, and must not be elected President of the United States.”

how exactly has he shown that he will fix this other than "i'll negotiate great deals, believe me"

he's not a serious candidate and shouldn't be considered one..
You're missing the point that I've been making since posting the Michael Moore comments this morning, which actually goes along with the Cracked article from last week or so. His supporters (I am not one!) don't care about anything other than that he isn't a politician and politicians have been lying to them forever. They may not even believe Trump can get anything he says done. It doesn't matter. Thankfully, I don't think there are enough of them to get Trump elected, but I would not bet against it at this point. I'm pissed at Trump because I think he blew it. If he could only have reigned in the stupid comments, came up with actual policy and learned everything he could during the last 2 years about the issues, he might have been able to easy defeat Hillary. As it is, he is probably costing the Republicans the Senate too.

You can only blow it, if you should have been in the game to begin with. He has been exposed as no contender to be taken seriously,  and you act like the important part is that he could have beaten Hillary.

It's about getting the best possible President, and of these two people, he is the clear loser. So why be upset at Trump for not being Hillary? Blame the GOP for not getting their act together.

As the viper said to the princess, "you knew I was poison when you picked me up".

You act as if the GOP have been in Trump's corner. While they underestimated the phenomena what should they have done? Let him run Independent? That would have been a bigger disaster for them.

Letting him go would not have been as big a disaster.  Either way they don't get the Presidency, but they don't destroy their party by wallowing in the filth of Trump

Meh. It's all hindsight. They are to blame for not taking him seriously but no one predicted he would win the nomination. Keep your friends close...

To start the Republicans should have offered a better slate of candidates. Next they should have thinned the heard sooner. This would have forced Trump to field serious questions revealing him to be the buffoon he is. Instead the debates were spent talking about hand size, offering up zingers and speaking and innuendo. Right in Trump's wheel house.

Watching this circus unfold I did not understand why John Kasich did not garner more support. The Republicans would have had a decent shot with Kasich. Instead they decide to embrace the crazy: Trump, Florina, Carson, Cruz... good grief.

I get your point - knowing what they knew before and early during the primaries they thought it would be more damaging to let him go independent.  By the time they figured it out the monster was out of the barn.

Attacked his ideas for the foolishness they were.

In other words, if he wasn't Donald Trump.

I have a feeling that Trump is not going to just concede defeat and limp away when he loses. He is way too egotistical and is enjoying this attention way too much. He's going to say the system was rigged and he never had a shot. He's going to claim that he is really the people's president and he will get that TV station going and encourage his supporters to remain his supporters and refuse to acknowledge the government. There will continue to be ugly rallies, and Trump will call himself the leader of this other half of the nation.

Saying all those stupid things is what won him the nomination. Somewhere around 40% of Republicans really liked those things.
Unfortunately, I think this is right.  Like 32 Counter Press pointed out above, if they hadn't picked Trump, the Republicans probably would have settled on some other half-crazy candidate instead.  The mainstream guys never really had a chance, except maybe for Rubio.

oh man this joe walsh idiot is getting his head handed to him on line if trump loses he is going to grab a musket wtf maybe he means he is going to go and live on a mountain and hunt bear and lynx out of a hand hewn log cabin built on the spot using an axe and the grit of the frontiersman but you know what i do not think that is it i think what he is really trying to say is i am a loser and a megadoosh and this is how you pronounce that in walsh take that to the bank bromigos

Good point - and as I've said before the mainstream guys knew he was tapped into the cray folks and they treated him with kid gloves early on thinking he would sink his own campaign or run out of gas and quit - so they wanted to pick up the cray voters when that happened and sweep to victory. That's what really happened. Like playing Risk thinking you are going to pick up his cards when you knock him out - but all of a sudden you fell asleep and let him keep one army on a Continent and he comes back and whips you. Mainstream guys had the chance they just got too cute.

Newt Gingrich confirms that he lives in an alternate universe

eta: Donald loved that Newt said Megyn Kelly was fascinated by sex

she dropped the mic on him :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

poor Newt. trying to be relevant again and just fell on his face. it's fascinating how troubled these guys are by women with opinions.
Awesome how the smiley faced balloon head scolds Kelly like a self-righteous nun brandishing a ruler about being fascinated by sex, than hypocritically badgers her about Bill Clinton - "I wanna hear you actually use the words, I wanna hear you use the words, Bill Clinton, sexual predator, I dare ya, say Bill Clinton, sexual predator."

Surprised he didn't say I double dare ya.

Guiliani goes completely mental and bonkers when his hatchet job narrative is unassailably refuted as failing to take into account and grasp the simple point of chronology by CNN host Cuomo.

You were pretty Hardcore yourself in the primaries. When Trump was doing well. You and your buddies all scattered like cockroaches once it was obvious he was getting destroyed in the general
