No, I was actually offered Ford out of the blue when I updated my trade bait. I think I have to take it, but am I selling Gus short? 5.0 yards per carry 2018-2020. Obviously, he's useless for the first half of the season, but if Dobbins were to get injured, are we sure this guy can't do what we were hoping for in 2021 after the Dobbins ACL?

Or is it just a combination of too old, too much competition, and too broken to ever see Gus get the volume that we were hoping for?

Ford is intriguing, but he's pretty much a burnt roster spot until 2023 or a Hunt trade, right? Even if the trade happens, D'Ernest is still there.

I'd take the Waller side. It breaks down to Waller and Juju for a 23 1st and a dart throw. I'm not at all high on Palmer. There just aren't enough targets to go around with Allen, Williams and ekeler. You upgrade at TE by a great deal and upgrade at WR.

I’m not super high on Cooper (cranky Raiders fan) but there’s no way this makes sense, even in TE premium. I hold Smith in one league as an upside, hope-he-finally-shines kind of backup TE. No way that kind of risk and a 3rd rounder is equal in value to what you “should” get for a player like Cooper. Team B wins this one big time.

I was the one who said they were throw-ins. The league is only in its second season and no one had a double digit win or loss record. Hard to guess where the picks might be. Interestingly enough, I have the 1.01 and it baffles me. My projected starters:

I'm team B. Kind of a lot going on, but team A kicked off a rebuild after finishing runner up, and really wanted their 1st back so they could all-out productive struggle. I'm could use an upgrade in my wr lineup and some RB depth. This really all hinges on Akers. If he's what we saw back before he ruptured his Achilles' heel, then I really like the trade for me. I discount the playoff games last year as being against really tough defenses. I've never been sold on Najee, but that said, he is a true volume guy in Pittsburgh, and those are tough to come by. I'm hoping the Akers/Najee thing is actually a wash because Akers is being counted down and out, and though I see why, I disagree with his discount, though McVay has made some noises about Henderson in the offseason.

All that said, I guess I'm fully aware of the risks of the trade -- I just don't see any other way to compete. I need dart throws to work out. Matt Harmon of Reception Perception loves AIyuk and Bateman, and they had great camps. Toney is electric and the wild card in the deal for me. I wouldn't have pulled the trigger without him. I like Bateman out of the bunch (and to a lesser degree Aiyuk), but am really cautious about both Akers and Toney. Hope I’m wrong on Toney as I am a Giants fan and own some shares, but so many issues with him just 16 months in the league.

Don't blame you. I've been way down on Toney since he came into the league for all the reasons we know about. I just couldn't resist the potential that he showed in that Dallas game. That's too hot. I believe in medical science, too, which is why I think Akers is going to be at least 7/8ths of himself, which is enough. But your point is taken. I don't think that would have been doable. AIyuk and Bateman are right there with Pittman in any player value evaluation. I can see the Najee for all of them comment, but I'm not sure he's really worth that much. Oh well, reasonable minds disagree. I ran it through three trade calcs and two were even, one was really lopsided in my favor.

I don't think this is an accurate assessment of market value or what the market would bear, but I appreciate the honesty. Two people now for the other side.

Fairly close IMO. Think Pittman will be a very good WR but that he is being overvalued by most. I think Bateman has a good chance to be worth more than Pittman pretty soon. Najee and Pittman are safer so I understand those that prefer that side but that’s a lot of upside on the other end.

I’d like it better if I felt I could turn around and swap Akers and Toney for pieces with less risk. Or if it had been a 1st instead of Toney.

That is good value but I'm not high on Moore. I do like Pickens so this probably was worth doing but if they never play for you then the picks might have been more valuable in a deep draft if you had held them. Really don't think you did wrong though and could probably sell those 2 for more than you paid so not bad at all.

This context is hugely important IMO. You made the trade knowing that you're giving up two VERY good dynasty pieces, but you needed more pieces. I don't hate the deal for you, and being in your position with needing players, this is very likely the best return you'd be able to find. That's one thing I've noticed a lot playing dynasty, guys with studs and duds will stubbornly hold onto that one stud even when the rest of their teams crumble around them, when they could (and probably should) sell them for more pieces. Kudos to you for getting max value for your situation. In a vacuum I prefer Najee and Pittman but given your situation I'd have likely pulled the trigger on this too...
