Update: I have big plans this year starting not one, but two new ventures in the next two weeks

1. Mailboxvalet.com. Email migration to google apps or office 365. This is complicated and scary for those that don't know how to move to email in the cloud. My last job we did these and didn't even market it as a service. For now I'll be doing this myself. Will start linked in and Adwords this week.

2. Niche reputation management platform. We are starting with physical therapists. Me and two software developers and web designers. We will be building sites and managing social media and doing reputation management.

I'm hoping to migrate 200 mailboxes and signup 20 marketing clients in 2015. If I do so then my income from these two will equal my day job, which I love and plan to keep.

Anyone else?
how do you keep focused when juggling so many projects? Do you feel that each idea receives the attention they deserve with the amount of time you spend with them? If I remember correctly you are also juggling a new family in the mix. You must be working 60-80 hours per week...
Well, since I'm just getting started doing both I don't yet know how it affects my schedule. But I like to work and I like to build things so it isn't unusual for me to spend my free time working on side projects and things.

I have a feeling 2015 is gonna be my ####-or-get-off-the-pot year. Been running a graphic design business out of house after hours from my full time advertising agency gig. I'm billing pretty much equal and some years more then my full time salary, but each time I want to jump, I get smacked with a setback (loss of client, family financial need, etc).

I'm fortunate, my wife is a teacher and holds all the family healthcare benefits.

My biggest hesitation is that design as a service is a no win business. The landscape has changed and still in flux and I'm afraid that if i leave my agency gig, and go solo, i'd lose touch with the industry needs and direction b/c I'll be stuck between selling and designing.

IDK, this is prob the 1,000th time I've kicked it around.
At least you'll be getting another check from me sometime soon ;)

If anyone needs a guy who can a) really design a great looking site and b) work with feedback iteratively and do it well... this is your guy.

Just don't make him too busy until we finish up my thing ;)

ETA: This is NOT Notestream... its my website about phone plans thats been under development for over a year... thats not Keith holding it up though, its my tech guy/partner who is time crunched usually.
Thanks Hulk....Its taken us a bit of time, but we are in the stretch run now. The Dev has the files and I spoke to him today. He has a few questions for us coming but is starting development now.

Site is gonna be great!! Can't wait to pimp it here

I am looking forward to hearing more about it!

I've said this before in several other threads, but starting a blog/website about something you enjoy is good. If you start several sites, you can make some pretty decent side income.

It does take time and effort and work and a bunch of other stuff, but the actual dollar costs are small and if it is about something you enjoy you may have some fun along the way. You also get the added tax advantages of starting up your own business.

I have several sites now at varying levels of success and failure, but every month when that check comes in I'm pretty pleased.

Just launched a site. If anyone would be so kind as to like on Facebook I would appreciate it. Content is pretty thin since its new but I like it.

Interesting site Abe. But what is it? It seems kind of like a blog/news site. How do you make $ with it?

The site looks good. I agree it needs more content - the articles could be a bit longer. But the structure looks good.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you get use of the photos / images for a site like this?

Well, I just sold my business. What a ride! I started a new thread about it, but wanted to let all you guys know.

Making it official today - leaving the first job I've ever had after 11 months.  Working for other people is not for me.

Anybody in here have any luck with alibaba? I have sent several RFQ's and now I await response. Tried only picking companies with a good response rate and three diamonds.

After 5 years working for others and moving up in the tech world I'm back out on my own. Started two businesses and things are going well.  Health insurance costs suck balls but everything else is solid.
