***OFFICIAL*** FFA Heavy Music Thread - No banal, anodyne "Dad Rock" BS here.. (3 Viewers)

Sorry, but it just wasn't.

Yep, the new record is sounding good so far.  Pretty rocking and heavy overall.   :pickle:
just because eddie could play didn't mean it wasn't glammy/hair metal......their lyrics were not deep and meaningful  (until Sammy joined the band)....and DLR is pretty much who every hair metal front man tried to be to the nth degree

Okay, but none of those things means VH was hair metal.  I have never seen anyone call VH hair metal until now.  While some of the hair metal bands got started in the early 80's, hair metal was basically a later 80's thing (Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Poison, Ratt, Motley Crue, etc.), and no one would ever call Van Hagar hair metal.

VH heavily influenced the genre....agree on Hagar....VH with DLR is a founding father of hair metal....way too awesome and cool to  be lumped in with poison and ratt, but those guy warren and CC could actually play hell the one dude was classically trained at NYU

Actually there are quite a lot of really good hair metal guitarists. George Lynch from Dokken was awesome, and even Winger's guitar player was good. Of all the popular hair metal bands it's actually harder to find guitar players who weren't good.

Oh hell yes. The hair metal guitarists can play circles around any modern guitar players. Lynch. DiMartini, Nuno, Beach, Jake E. Lee, Vito Bratta etc.

Slipknot is headlining a tour with Gojira, Volbeat, and Behemoth opening.

I was pretty psyched to see this show, but it's at The Shoreline Amphitheater. Anyone in Northern Cali knows how much that place sucks :(

Glad I got to see Gojira a few times in the clubs.  I think those days are going to be over.

I heard this earlier this year and like it. Do you listen to Exalt?  Same sound
I haven't, but I'll definitely check them out. I love the Hardcore crossover stuff. I'm going to the Hatebreed 25th anniversary tour next month. I'm super stoked to see Terror, and the legendary Cro-Mags open the show.
