You should also widen your age range imo. You might be surprised how many girls are interested in older guys. And there are some older chicks who have really taken care of themselves. I'm 35 and have a 22-39 range. YMMV.

Totally worth it! And believe it or not, I actually learned quite a bit I think. I'll broaden the search range. Got a few other decent options I've been talking with too.

Don't get too hung up on the last name thing. That's not always a prerequisite in my experience. Try to remember the first name though. Sometimes easier said than done.

First chick I "dated" was 34. I was 32. The next one was 35. That's where my comfort level was at the time.Since then I've gotten older, and the girls have gotten younger (for the most part). I think age +5/-13 makes for a pretty solid range. Odds are I'll stick to the lower end of that, but it's good to keep the upper options open. Just in case.

So that was anti-climatic. Met (with a handshake, 2 handed friendly-like, not business-like) and had a few drinks and appetizers. She looked great. Had I not known how old she was, I would have guessed mid to late 30's. She's a thin, blonde, flight attendant. Anyway, we had an easy time talking, but at the end she said she thought I might not be quite ready.

Apparently, I'm too honest. Oh, and too nice. We ended with a hug, and she said she'd keep in touch, and encouraged me to as well...but I'm sure that's not likely. Anyway, it was good to get that 1st one out of the way.

On the bright side, this person wants to contact me:

I like collecting and swapping unicorn figurines on ebay. I love unicorns, I think it is very sad that we allowed them to become extinct. Man is a selfish animal sometimes. We could have shared the world with them but we hunted them for the magical powers their horns possessed. If I had a unicorn I would meet it in the forest and be gentle with it until the day it trusted me enough to let me ride on its back. Once when I was out dancing, I met some guys who were going to get tattoos so I joined them and got a unicorn on my lower back. It has a rainbow colored horn which I was told symbolizes intelligence and beauty so that is appropriate for me.

Anyway, I think I'm past that now, as the woman I'm seeing tonight is not one I would normally see. She's 45. Again... I'm 35, and in my search listings, I was searching for 28-36. This one found me. She's an attractive, thin, blonde - and everyone I talked to told me to just do it...So I am.

Headed out for dinner/drinks tonight. No idea what to expect. 1st real date in years - and considering I was with my wife for 6 years before we were married, there weren't a whole lot of real dates before that.

Oh, and I've spent the past several weeks reading this entire thread.

So that was anti-climatic. Met (with a handshake, 2 handed friendly-like, not business-like) and had a few drinks and appetizers. She looked great. Had I not known how old she was, I would have guessed mid to late 30's. She's a thin, blonde, flight attendant. Anyway, we had an easy time talking, but at the end she said she thought I might not be quite ready.

Apparently, I'm too honest. Oh, and too nice. We ended with a hug, and she said she'd keep in touch, and encouraged me to as well...but I'm sure that's not likely. Anyway, it was good to get that 1st one out of the way.

On the bright side, this person wants to contact me:

I like collecting and swapping unicorn figurines on ebay. I love unicorns, I think it is very sad that we allowed them to become extinct. Man is a selfish animal sometimes. We could have shared the world with them but we hunted them for the magical powers their horns possessed. If I had a unicorn I would meet it in the forest and be gentle with it until the day it trusted me enough to let me ride on its back. Once when I was out dancing, I met some guys who were going to get tattoos so I joined them and got a unicorn on my lower back. It has a rainbow colored horn which I was told symbolizes intelligence and beauty so that is appropriate for me.

I have an update too!I started talking to a guy on Plentyoffish in February or so. We chatted on and off for a couple months, then I wasn't around for a while because I was crazy busy. Logged back on again in May and recontacted him just so he didn't think I stopped talking to him because he'd offended me or something. We started chatting again and then met in person at the end of June. I wasn't expecting a heck of a lot - we had good conversations but I got much more of a friend vibe from him online. (He's also teetering at the very upper edge of my acceptable age range and that kind of threw me a bit.) The first meeting went much better than I thought - turns out we have tons in common. (and he was much cuter in person than in his pictures!) We had a couple long phone conversations after that, met up at the Taste of Chicago the next weekend...and have spent pretty much every weekend together since then. At first it was pretty obvious that he was much more into me than I was into him...but I've really grown quite fond of him. I will also say that of all the PoF guys, he's the only one I've introduced to my family. (They like him!)So we'll see how this goes.

So far things are going very well! He and his mom are going to come to Thanksgiving dinner with my family this year, so that will be fun. But I still gloated when I beat him in fantasy football a few weeks ago.

And a way-overdue update: Still very much together - in fact, we will be moving in together at the end of this month.

We are still together and have been living together since last June.

This is probably going to be completely dependent on our age. The divorced >30 guys are naturally going to date more moms.I'd guess around 33% for me but it could easily jump to 50%.

This turned out to be a terrible guess. New estimate based on a more statistically significant sample size = 5%.

While I tend to think (know) this is good advice, I have yet to do so. This is my first success story since getting divorced (which by the way, is not even 100% official yet!). I have seen her again, which ended up even more physical than the first time. This time, she flat out asked:"I know this is probably early, and there is no right or wrong answer...but what do you think about being exclusive?"

I hope by the sudden silence that I maintained for about 30 seconds, that she understands that is not what I'm looking for right now, but in the moment, I came back with something lame like "Um...I don't know...we'll have to talk about that". Of course, we didn't.

Still, I am supposed to see her tomorrow, and I think I'll have to bring it up before we get too far along. It is way too early, and not what I'm looking for (at least with her), so I at least owe it to her to be honest and let her know where I'm coming from.

Good lord.Funny thing is this is fine for you. Just be honest and say you aren't interested in anything serious right now and just want to enjoy each other's company and see how it shakes out. Believe it or not, this will make her even MORE into you. Trust me.
