No, haven't tried. I would be very skeptical of anyone who wants you to email her off site though. There's no good reason for it. I went along with it once at hotornot and got an email telling me to look her up at some other "dating" site, which I'd have to register for. If you say "no thanks I'd rather just talk here" and you never hear from her again, you'll know she was a spammer.

Not any news on my eharmony quest. It took about 5-6 days before I got another local match. I went ahead and extended my territory out to 120 mles just so I could get some matches a little closer than 500 miles. It has been tough going cause most of women I find are about rated 3 on my level. I am in no means a 10 as far as looks, but I least want someone who is fit and somewhat cute.

I guess it only takes one, so I will hang in there.

But I just officially signed up for a Match subscription. I got a lot of views and a few winks when I first posted my profile but none of the Columbus chicks on there really interested me so I never signed up and kind of quit on the whole thing...one of those "I'll do it later" type of deals. Anyway I checked back a few days ago and then today I had two new emails. But I needed a subscription to read them or see who they're from, so I signed up for the 3-day trial.

Blech. Neither was interesting or attractive. Hint to the ladies...just because you're allowed to use 5000 words in your description doesn't mean you have to.

But on a brighter note, I finally found a few potential targets that intrigue your GB Homer...so now what? Anybody got some tips for the opening salvo? I have three days to fish for responses before I decide to stick with it or bail.

Chicks look for 3 things typically:

1. Confidence

2. Entertainment

3. Mystery

If you send them a novel you are giving out too much info. Just keep it short, witty and definitely comment something on their pic or in their profile - address them by name if it is available to you. The more you personalize the more likely they will get back to you. Dont offer too much about yourself, let them come back to ask you.Others like to keep initial contact even shorter.

But the overall message should be pretty short and witty. These chicks get tons of messages a day. Separate yourself from the pack.

When I rejoined I had hundreds of matches closed because I "didn't respond". eHarmony kept matching me the entire time I was off. Like I said earlier, "match" means nothing on eHarmony, a response means and active member.

When I was on there, I often took a couple of weeks to respond. I was busy.

I'm pretty sure that's a Mexican flag in the pic. The two flags are the same colors, but the Mexican one has some kind of design in the middle.

I have profiles up on Lavalife and Plentyoffish. I've met a few people from those sites. Most have been cool, although there have been a couple crazies. (I have not met the crazies in person, thank you!) I love the Plentyoffish forums, too!I have a profile on eHarmony too, just because I filled out the profile to see if I was unmatchable. (I'd heard rumors that my political views and religion are, shall we say, unacceptable on that site!) I did get a few matches but I do not want to pay an arm and a leg for them - and most of them were way across the country. I currently have matches turned off. Maybe if I was seriously husband-hunting I'd shell out, but for what I want to do (meet local people to hang with), it's not worth it. And their commercials bug me.

the only thing is I'm not sure I want to date a girl who isn't really religious... I don't wanna deal with the issues that would make...although I really didn't mention God that much, you should see the EHarmony profiles I'm getting from these girls...
