Question for about idating, as far as communication. Are you guys finding out, you have to initiate most of the beginning communication or are you getting women to start it up. I am finding on eharmoney that I have to take the initial step. The only ones that start the communication process with me are ones that have no pictures or a little hefty on the weight side. I am 5'7 150, so i am not sure why they would want my skinny bones.

I got excited today when I saw I had communication. I went into the profile....no pictures. Start reading the profile...sounds okay until at the bottom it mentions how she is big boned and full figured. At least she is honest.

Overall still no luck on my end. Pickings are slim.

Oh, and her physical description says 5'4" and "slender". Considering "Average" means chubby and "Athletic" means built like a linebacker, there's not much wiggle room when you check the "slender" box. Combined with the Asian thing I'm saying there's an 85% probability that I'll find her hot.Still a little :unsure: about the lack of a pic though.

If a woman doesn't have a picture, she's absolutely fat. About 9 years ago when I started doing this there was still potential for the woman to be attractive, if she didn't have a picture, but nowadays it's so easy to put pics online that there's no legit excuse.If a woman doesn't have a picture, she's fat.If she has a bunch of pictures from the neck up, she's fat.Men typically have to start conversations online because, lets face it, women already have a pool of guys trying to hook up with them. Bring your A-game or watch Woz score while you don't.

Generally, yeah I've had to make the initial contact. I'm assuming the cute ones are getting more contacts then they can handle, they don't need to be out there looking for more.On POF, I've gotten about a dozen first messages so far. Of those, I only found one attractive (she attached pics to the message but had none on her profile). Some of the others were ok but just didn't do it for me for whatever reason.Yahoo and hotornot were pretty much the same, one or two cute ones... the rest meh.Myspace however has attractive 30 something moms coming out of the woodwork on a fairly regular basis. :goodposting:

my turn to entertain...there was this tall (6') brunette I saw which I figured I did not have a shot with, I am only 5'8" but she had a pic of her in her car and she was all dressed up, so I sent her a message saying something like wow you look really sophisticated and the car you are in looks real nice what is it?

her reply: Lol, it's a caravan.

Yeah I got my foot in the door, and then inserted said foot into mouth - nothing became of it.

 
This is exactly why I have a variety of pictures on my profile. I've got the face pics but there are a couple full-body shots. I figure why lie about what I look like? If I'm planning to meet the person he's going to find out anyway, and then this way there won't be any unpleasant surprises - if a guy wants a Kate Moss lookalike, he knows not to bother with me. :thumbup:

I haven't sent a lot of initial contact messages because, well, I'm kind of shy about that, believe it or not. :X

I've had just the opposite results. I get contacted by females quite frequently (and cute/hot ones at that) and my initial contacts ususally go nowhere. I've pretty much gotten to the point that I wait for them to contact me. When I was on e-harmony usually one or two a day would contact me.

When i was younger i babysat a lot for family and friends. I like what i do, but i am kinda looking for a new job in madison because daycare does not pay very well. My job would still be working with kids but i still want to work wtih kids. I also do a lot of babysitting on the side.

I'm thinking you should tell her you're in law school, but don't worry, you're not a pedophile.In all seriousness, she kept it short, I'd keep it short back. Try something like "Well, I think it's great that you really enjoy what you do - you're definitely one of the lucky ones. What do you enjoy doing when you're not at work?"

But, I've been married for years and sucked at this stuff when I was single, so take it at face value. I'd just give her back what she gives you to work with, and if it dies out, let it go rather than trying to chase some gal with an apparent 3rd grade education. Don't work too hard at it, just Otis out another 30 emails.

:lmao: I was so tempted to hook this new fish I saw today. She had definitely only joined today since she only had a few people add her as a favorite. I had sent her an email and a few minutes go by and she had not checked it yet, and I saw she was available via IM - I probably should have just pulled the trigger. She was probably getting blitzed by mofos via IM though so I thought waiting it out was the best play. It has to be a bit of a shocker to get random IM's from strangers, but it almost seems like that is how POF is setup.

the POF pond is seeming smaller and smaller once you take into account who has been active today, vs. last week, vs. last 30 days, vs. longer. At this point, anyone that has not been active more frequently then this week I just write off as no longer active. Looks like I have a date lined up later this week (pic in underground - Winona) with a fellow Red Sox fan in nyc - just waiting for confirmation.

I was kinda bored tonight, so i re-did my POF profile and shot out 2 or 3 emails. Maybe something will come of this batch. I'm sort of surprised I haven't had better luck on that site. I don't consider myself a shallow person, but man have there been some dogs sending me messages. :X Several good looking women in my area, but no responses. :thumbup:

Starting Sunday night, I'll be cruising the bars of St. Paul, MN for 2 weeks. Maybe a re-entry into the B&M dating world is what i need.
