***OFFICIAL*** FFA MLB Draft (1 Viewer)

By the way... MUCH props to Larry. Hes a freakin timex of these drafts.PS I was looking at Maris too, but he would have been a pick that would have done more to prop up my final MVP numbers and less to help my team. :bag:

*YAWN*Certainly not the first time I've had a lengthy wait to make my next pick even though I know there's no chance in hell he'll be taken. If it wasn't so hilarious, I'd be mad.

20.01 1B/3B Roger Connorcareer .317/.397/.486 with 2,467 hits. A Hall of Famer, plays both 3B and 1B shoring up the backups for my entire IF between Connor, Santiago, & Alou, although I might pick up one more guy....

Jeff Montgomery, RP

16th all time in saves, 134 career adjusted ERA+, 3-time all-star, 93 Rolaids winner.

Nothing too exciting here, just a good righty setup guy for my pen.

Pick for UCONN's team...

20.03 Sam Thompson - OF

Hall of Famer. He and Foxx are the only 2 players to have over 150 RBI with 2 different teams (unless someone's done it recently).

Top 3 OF in RBI per Game (a countdown):

3. Babe Ruth .884

2. Joe DiMaggio .885

Nice, this guy has some crazy numbers. The number of 100R + 100 RBI seasons he had was crazy. Would have taken him earlier if he had a little more HR power.

When did he play? If he was in the Deadball Era, his power will show up in the sim. At least, it should.

Just looked him up. He played in the late 1800's. In the normalized db, he shows up with two 40+ HR seasons and five 30+ HR seasons. His power will be there in the sim.

Quick OOTP update:

While entering the rosters that I DO HAVE (Ahem, slackers...) I noticed that OOTP doesn't apply ratings to the really old guys very well when using the Lahman db. Guys that played in the Dead Ball Era get screwed for power ratings.

So, I found a better alternative. There's this guy named Ankit that created several variations of the Lahman db and one of them is a Normalize version of it. Basically, he took the Lahman db and normalized the stats for the historical players to match up with today's game.

I took a look at a few of them and they look pretty good. For example, in 1901 Sam Crawford had 16 HR. That was a ton for that era (props to Koya). Ankit's normalized db has Crawford with 49 HR for that year. Seems pretty good to me.

Two caveats:

1) It only goes to the 2002 season. This isn't that big of a deal since we can use Lahman for 2003 or 2004 since they won't need to be normalized.

2) He's apparently working on a newer version with a different methodology for calculating the normalized stats.

I'm going to email him and see if I can get an update on the new version.
Bump.

Time to fill some needs. With my additional speed on the bench, I can look for possible platoon for one of my few weaker hitting players (Nellie Fox) while also covering my need for the one infield position I have only one eligible player at:

2B Billy Herman

Hall of Famer

10 STRAIGHT All Star Games

Over .300 lifetime hitter (back when 2B didnt hit, mind you)

3 Top 5 MVP Finishes (5 Top Ten)

He will be a 1/3 platoon with Nellie, from the right side of the plate. This also allows me to pinch run or pinch hit for Nellie with one of my pinch hit specialists without sacrificing much toward the end of the game either offensively, or defensively.

20.07 - Max Carey - OF

Just adding more speed to my OF.

738 SB (9th All-Time);including leading the league 10 times

159 Triples (42nd All-Time)

1545 Runs (49th All-Time)

2665 Hits (59th All-Time)

Stellar defense in the OF to go with his speed. I replace Jackson with Carey and no ball drops in the OF.
