What does the username have to do with the simulation?  I mean, I realize you've exhibited a level of classlessness throughout this thread, but the sim information is copied directly from the sim to this page.  If you can't trust that, you're grabbing at straws.I'll run another one, if you like.
Tell you what. You download OOTP. It costs only $19.95. I'll e-mail you the file and the settings (stats all converted to modern, players 100% based on OOTP ratings, ratings exceeding 100). You can run the sim yourself.
Any sim that allows Bonds to hit 85 homers against the greatest pitchers of all-time isn't worth the $20, imo.
actually... Bonds would hit MORE home runs against great pitchers than he would against pitchers in our era now...Bonds gets intentionally walked like 1/2 the times he goes up to the plate IRL...he will NEVER get intentionally walked against the greatest pitchers ever...his 85 home runs in the OOTP sim that Winner did was probably with FEWER HR/AB than he had the season used (I think it was his 70 HR season that got used, too, due to the third WIS season rule...)
I think you're losing your mind larry.I could beat this statement 8 ways till next week, but I'll just say that if you think Bonds is going to hit 12 more homers in a season than he ever did before while facing the likes of Walter Johnson, Cy Young, Lefty Grove, and just about every other HOF pitcher, as opposed to the modern days guys he gets on a daily basis like Steve Traschel, Mike Myers and Tim Wakefield (oops  ) then you are absolutely out of your mind.
yes, but less walks = more HRs... 2001 36 SFG NL 153 476 129 156 32 2 73 137 13 3 177 93 .328 .515 .863 411 0 2 35 9 5stat line from 2001... he hit a homer every 6.52 ABs... but he had 177 walks... let's lower than by 87... to 90... give him 87 more at bats... at 6.52 AB/HR... he would gain 13 home runs...so it isn't that far fetched...Now, do I think it is realistic? Pro'lly not... I think he shouldn't be getting that many homers... but do I think it shows the sim is bad/stupid? Nope...
care to go into the difference between those pitchers he faced in 2001 and the ones he faced in the sim?

let's look at the sim's stats for bonds:Plate appearances: 698Home Runs: 85Walks: 138that means he had 560 actual ABs... that also mean he hit a home run every 6.59 ABs...he actually needed .07 more ABs per HR in the sim that Winner ran than he did IRL the year that was used...

by the way, Bonds gets walked a lot now because he is a) really really good b) the pitching is really, really bad and c) he has Pedro Feliz behind him in the lineup.Only option a) would still exist here in the sim, larry.
he would get less walks against those all-time great pitchers than against the crappy pitchers he faces now...he'd pro'lly got ZERO IBBs and he'd pro'lly get a lot less walks, too, 'cuz the all-time greats aren't gonna give up as many as the modern guys will...
yes larry, less walks..BUT HE WOULD BE FACING MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER PITCHINGHow is this ####ing idiot leading his conference?
my main point was that it was out of whack, I think he should be less...but I also think he should have been around where he was IRL that year... he hit 73...add 100 ABs (which it did do) and he should have about the same number of HRs in that Sim season as he did IRL...his HR total was 10 off, tops... not 20 or 30 or some crazy, horrible number like you are acting like it is...and if Bonds is really the best player EVER, like many think he is, he probably would still get his against the best pitchers ever, especially with modern-biased stat-updates, etc being involved...

I agree with you, Cappy. There's no chance Bonds hits over 80 jacks against the cream of the pitching crop. Teeing off against guys like Kirk Saarloos? Definitely. Koufax, Carlton, and Alexander? Not so much.

btw, why can't I use chat?playing live kind of sucks when I can't talk at all.Capella, when you got the team switched over to me, shouldn't I also get chat capability?Nipsey, please tell John to hook me up. Throw a couple ribs down his throat if that will help get it done.TIA.
John,I know you're a new member of FBG and check this thread frequently. Please make this request happen. It will be a kind gesture that will certainly not go unappreciated by this fake FBG mod. I'm sure I can make your stay here more comfortable, despite my lack of authority, or any real power whatsoever.Gracias mi amigo,-Aaron
I'll pass on the note, but he's at Gloria Estefan tonight. He probably can't do much either as he's not hands on the technical stuff (he's more of concept guy. Capella's right, shoot an e-mail to the site, tell them you know John and you should be all set.....

Here are the pitchers Bonds faced in 2001:

Bonds: 9162.3 innings pitched, 563 wins, 511 losses, 4.42 ERA

The National League ERA is 4.36 in 2001

So he ended up facing pitchers who ended up above the league average ERA. Not a big deal, but take into consideration who those pitchers are exactly. And this is in 2001, where we're looking at rocket-launchers like Coors, Enron, etc.

Further..

Bonds has hit 12 home runs off pitchers who won at least 15 games (Schilling 3; Mark Mulder 2; Chan Ho Park 3; Woody Williams; Darryl Kile; Paul Abbott; Wade Miller).

Impressive list there. Chan, Woody, Kile, Paul Abbott and Wade Miller. Exactly two guys who may make an all-time team. Christ, he hit #73 off Dennis Springer.

Unless you draft him, Dennis Springer isn't making into the sim, larry.

You won't find too many greats on that list larry. He hit homers off of Wilfredo Rodriguez, Willie Williams, Winchester and Rapp. This argument of yours has no chance, make your time.

Unless you draft him, Dennis Springer isn't making into the sim, larry.
Just FYI--the sim calculates the league average ERA , HR, hits, etc. etc. beforehand, and everyone is conformed to that. So basically the outliers are pushed really far to the end, but everyone's stats are conformed to the league standard. So basically, the league ERA is still pretty high.

he's going to have to email WIS tomorrow.sorry, didn't scan all 24 rosters. they probably wouldn't have made all the changes by tonight anyways.

It simmed a total of like 1700 someting HR for 16 teams, so that's like 100something a team... lots of guys had 0 or 2, because we drafted tons of deadballers. so the rest were essentially divvied up among the guys that hit lots of HRs, bonds among them. i think the prevalence of deadballers that don't hit HRs was also part of why the big hitters' (but not everyone's) HR #s were so big in the other sim, as well.

wiat until you see Sosa, Sheffield, Thome, Piazza, & Walker's HR stats...
Sheffield only hit 43..although that's his career high in the modern, juiced era, I'm sure he could swing that in the deadball era against the all-time greats.Sorry if I sound pissy, but that's just comes off as Xbox numbers.

It simmed a total of like 1700 someting HR for 16 teams, so that's like 100something a team... lots of guys had 0 or 2, because we drafted tons of deadballers. so the rest were essentially divvied up among the guys that hit lots of HRs, bonds among them. i think the prevalence of deadballers that don't hit HRs was also part of why the big hitters' (but not everyone's) HR #s were so big in the other sim, as well.
..and that's why this thing is so ####### out of whack.
yup---basically it's using the same # of HRs that we would expect as realistic, but since a ton of guys hit zero, everyone else is inflated to essentially modern numbers--which i guess isn't really inflating. i mean, it's not altogether that surprising that bonds would hit 73 HRs when the year used for him was one were he hit 73 HRs. same for ruth and sosa.

How does knowing deep down that my squad is much, much better feel? :own3d:
I don't..I know I'm in first and you aren't. :own3d:
Yeah? Well the jerk store just called and they ran out of you. :own3d:

Sorry if I sound pissy, but that's just comes off as Xbox numbers.
Is that why? Honestly? It's okay for you to be honest with us. I know your team turned out worst in both sims, but you could definitely just download OOTP and I can e-mail you the file. It may not turn out that way for you.

comments? I like how bunning turned out to be the lord jesus christ, and how messersmith had the second-lowest era and also 30 losses.

no..I really don't care about the standings..they'll just get lost in the sea of pages that flow through here tomorrow.the stats are rendered meaningless by what you've shown me. thus, I don't give the actual sim itself much credability.

larry_boy o\/\/ning Capella.Saving this one for future use..
Hate to say it, but it's true.Good job Larry...very well done.
:rotflmao:anybody who thinks bonds would hit the same number of homers against all-time greats as he would dennis springer is lacking something upstairs.

I think you're losing your mind larry.I could beat this statement 8 ways till next week, but I'll just say that if you think Bonds is going to hit 12 more homers in a season than he ever did before while facing the likes of Walter Johnson, Cy Young, Lefty Grove, and just about every other HOF pitcher, as opposed to the modern days guys he gets on a daily basis like Steve Traschel, Mike Myers and Tim Wakefield (oops  ) then you are absolutely out of your mind.
by the way, Bonds gets walked a lot now because he is a) really really good b) the pitching is really, really bad and c) he has Pedro Feliz behind him in the lineup.Only option a) would still exist here in the sim, larry.
he would get less walks against those all-time great pitchers than against the crappy pitchers he faces now...he'd pro'lly got ZERO IBBs and he'd pro'lly get a lot less walks, too, 'cuz the all-time greats aren't gonna give up as many as the modern guys will...
yes larry, less walks..BUT HE WOULD BE FACING MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER PITCHINGHow is this ####ing idiot leading his conference?
The presentation alone makes this ####### hysterical. :rotflmao:
