Just checked back in. Great pick Nipsey. I wanted to fill another infield spot so I took Killebrew but Greenberg was my highest rated OF left. Thanks guys. I looked at him in round three too. Needed the pop.
Just take Crime Dog and let's move on.I really don't know who to take here..just did a write-up for one guy, but scrapped it.Give me a sec..
Oh take Boggs already and be done with it.I really don't know who to take here..just did a write-up for one guy, but scrapped it.Give me a sec..

You're right. But in other vintage baseball drafts I've doneDidnt Greenberg play far more at 1B? Although technically eligible for OF here, Im sure. The other great bonus about the Carew pick is mention in a Beastie's song. If two teams were equal in my eyes, that would tip the scales.
I've used him at OF so I think of him there. Far more games at 1B though. His 1940 season is his third highest salary, a year he spent entirely in the outfield. You're right. Ahhh, I did not know you had an advantage. *******. Where do you do these drafts? You're right. But in other vintage baseball drafts I've doneDidnt Greenberg play far more at 1B? I was under the impression if a guy played 100 games in a seaosn at a position, you can play him there. Wrong? His 1940 season is his third highest salary, a year he spent entirely in the outfield. You're right. But in other vintage baseball drafts I've doneDidnt Greenberg play far more at 1B? For the vote this is true, but as far as the SIM goes not sure.I was under the impression if a guy played 100 games in a seaosn at a position, you can play him there. It would only be an advantage if I was good at it. Think in terms of funkley's vintage nba draft.Ahhh, I did not know you had an advantage. *******. Where do you do these drafts? You're right. .It was at a site that's not very popular arounds these parts for good reason. Also, in those drafts we limited ourselves to only using the same letter once so all letters would be used except for three and there are no MLB player names that start with 'X' so that is out off the top. Much different draft than this where you're just after the best players....basically.Can we clarify this please? For the vote this is true, but as far as the SIM goes not sure.I was under the impression if a guy played 100 games in a seaosn at a position, you can play him there. Roberto Clemente
The decision wasn't this difficult, but I'm a hard-head.
TWELVE Gold Gloves
12-time All-Star
a borderline stupid 27 outfield assists in 1961
13 times he finished in the top-10 in BA
Four batting titles
1966 NL MVP and 1971 World Series MVP
3,000 hits
Career .317 avg
Quite possibly the best defensive OF of all-time (and if he's not, he's in the discussion)Dude was practically a God to his country. And now my RF-CF is Roberto Clemente and Willie Mays. Glllllllllllllll trying to get a ball down in there, or taking that extra bag.
"(Roberto) Clemente could field the ball in New York and throw out a guy in Pennsylvania." - Broadcaster Vin Scully
"He gave the term 'complete' a new meaning. He made the word 'superstar' seem inadequate. He had about him the touch of royalty." - Baseball Commissioner Bowie Kuhn (1973 eulogy)
"He was the one player that players on other teams didn't want to miss. They'd run out of the clubhouse to watch him take batting practice. He could make a 10-year veteran act like a 10-year-old kid." - Pitcher Steve Blass
"The big thing about (Roberto) Clemente is that he can hit any pitch. I don't mean only strikes. He can hit a ball off his ankles or off his ear." -Hall of Fame pitcher Juan Marichal

That's who I wanted to round out my of with...wishful thinking again.Yeah, for sim purposes having Killebrew and Foxx could present a problem for me......which would suck. For the vote this is true, but as far as the SIM goes not sure.I was under the impression if a guy played 100 games in a seaosn at a position, you can play him there. LastResort selects one of this year's Hall of Fame inductees:
3B Wade Boggs
again....I think round 4 was quite enough slippage for him.Roberto Clemente

Clemente is also a great pick in the airplane crash draft.
Right up there with Aaliyah.NOSo for the sim, when we take a guys third best season, do we have to play him at the position he played that year? Fairly important to figure this out now....
if you don't I'm sure he'll suck in the field...seems pretty fair...if you want his "prime" offensive numbers you've got to take them at his "prime" defensive position. So for the sim, when we take a guys third best season, do we have to play him at the position he played that year? Fairly important to figure this out now....
LOVE the clemente pick. I was praying somehow everyone would get stupid and let him slide... I wanted him more than Griff, but when you face cementing a position (and wow, could Clemente play right), I need a CF to help out back there, overall.Great pick on Clemente.
If you play a guy like Greenberg in the OF, for a year which he did not play in the OF (such as his third-highest salary year, which we long ago committed to), the sim will either really hurt his defense or not allow you to play him there. I can't remmeber which, but I think it just won't let you play him there. Can we clarify this please? For the vote this is true, but as far as the SIM goes not sure.I was under the impression if a guy played 100 games in a seaosn at a position, you can play him there. Are you sure about this? As to whether the sim will even allow him to be drafted in that spot, I mean.NOSo for the sim, when we take a guys third best season, do we have to play him at the position he played that year? Fairly important to figure this out now....
These vintage drafts and the site they are on can not be spoken in these parts.Of course Funkley did SOOO bad in those drafts that he shouldn't talk about them.Ahhh, I did not know you had an advantage. *******. Where do you do these drafts? You're right. But in other vintage baseball drafts I've doneDidnt Greenberg play far more at 1B? Although technically eligible for OF here, Im sure. OF defense will be a key in this league imo. Awesome picks. 2 of the better "value" selections in the draft IMO...that's almost funny calling Mays a value pick...LOVE the clemente pick. I was praying somehow everyone would get stupid and let him slide... I wanted him more than Griff, but when you face cementing a position (and wow, could Clemente play right), I need a CF to help out back there, overall.Great pick on Clemente.Just so we're clear, my OF now consists of Willie Mays and Roberto Clemente, probably the two best fielding outfielders of all-time.And Randy Johnson throwing bullets. You people are ####ed.
If a guy had 100 games elsewhere, and he wants to stick him there, he can do it. Doesn't have to be for that year. Are you sure about this? As to whether the sim will even allow him to be drafted in that spot, I mean.NOSo for the sim, when we take a guys third best season, do we have to play him at the position he played that year? damn, I should have asked this earlier. I was just assuming the opposite. Might have (but probably not) changed my last pick or two.NOSo for the sim, when we take a guys third best season, do we have to play him at the position he played that year? Fairly important to figure this out now....
So if I play Greenberg at 1st base (in his third highest salary year) he's gonna suxors? I gotta play him in the OF? Can we change our line-ups/batting orders day by day?Are you sure about this? As to whether the sim will even allow him to be drafted in that spot, I mean.NOSo for the sim, when we take a guys third best season, do we have to play him at the position he played that year? Fairly important to figure this out now....
yesCan we change our line-ups/batting orders day by day?
I just don't have the attention span for them. After one month of a 3 month draft I just get bored.Of course Funkley did SOOO bad in those drafts that he shouldn't talk about them.![]()
