Tug McGraw RP..... :bag:

atleast I can be confident nobody took him yet....will have to recover from today tomm. Again, hope I didn't hold things up too much.
If Faith Hill somehow comes with this pick it's even better.
 Thanks for the list IWKS. Looking forward to catching up on today's picks tomm.

2B Lou Whitaker

A complete homer pick. My list of all-time favorites goes Trammell 1 and Sweet Lou 2.
Jack Morris has gotta be up there? He was a warrior for those Tigers teams.
I was awfully young, didn't appreciate pitching as much at that point.Just loved watching Tram and Lou come through with clutch hits and sweet DPs.

What about Gibby, pretty damn good World Series in 84, that's the first World series I actually remember watching I was 11, bad memory I guess.

13.16 SP/RP John Smoltz14.1 C Benito Santiagothat's pitcher #5... I'm thinking about starting him 1 out of every 9 or 10 games and then using him as a part-time closer, too... not completely sure though...Santiago is simply 'cuz he was good (5 All Stars, 3 GG, ROY) and I need a second catcher due to WIS' crappy 3rd season for Pudge in which I can only play him in a little more than half the games or he'll play badly...

Bret Saberhagen, SP

I'm well aware of the inconsistency and odd-year even-year pattern. But hey, its 2005, an odd year so he should rule.

At this point I'll take a guy with 2 Cy Youngs and Top 50 Adjusted ERA+.

Plus he and Whitaker help even out my eras. I was a little light on players I grew up watching.

Gibson's obviously a favorite of mine now since he went to MSU, but I don't remember seeing him play as much.I was born in 1980 so the 84 Tigers predate me a bit. 1987 was when I started watching baseball and playing Strat-O-Matic. Tigers had the best record in the league and choked in the playoffs.

Gibby went to LA in 1988. I remember seeing him hit the gimpy World Series HR for the Dodgers and being really pissed off he wasn't a Tiger anymore. Too young to understand the business of baseball.

When you guys hit a lull or end the round you're on, one of you guys that already has my email addy, send me a revised spreadsheet. TIAI'm heading home.
Bogart, hit me up with a revised sheet when you get a chance. You guys are rolling on pages. Not sure how many picks you've done since 5:00 this evening but the pages in this thread are MOVING!

Okay, that was worth staying up for.
why do you say that?
Santiago would make a great backup in this league. However, for someone needing to fill 70 starts, I wouldn't have pulled the trigger on him.
I might even get a third C and platoon 2 guys the days that I can't start Pudge...who knows...
 Then why not just draft a guy you could platoon with pudge? The fact that Santiago's not a good platoon option with him was my point.

Did UCONN bail?
i wouldnt think so. he was just on, and we were moving. hopefully he is checking on his next pick.

I don't plan on it...I just said I don't know what I"m going to do...if in round 23 there is another really really good C I could use at the backup-backup C spot, I'll be ok with carrying 3 Cs knowing my starter won't be able to play more than 90 games, that is all I was saying...

Larry, I pmed you my list. im passing out. hopefully uconn is researching n will pick.editted to add for larry... tia

Guess I can give the lineup thing a shot now. Making a lineup with these guys is tough since I went for all-around types, but here goes nothing:SS - Honus Wagner - RLF - Carl Yastrzemski - LRF - Harry Heilmann - R1B - **** Allen - R3B - Home Run Baker - LC - Joe Torre - RCF - Minnie Minoso - R2B - Lou Whitaker - LHonus could hit anywhere but I like him leading off. Get as many ABs as possible, he'll either get extra-base hits, or just get on and then steal his way over. Yaz has great plate discipline and led the league in OBP 5 times so he makes a nice #2. Heilmann is my best pure hitter and an easy choice for #3. Allen is by far my best power guy so he hits 4th. Baker at 5 and Torre at 6 provide some backup power. Minoso is a good #7 since he has the power to drive in anyone left behind, and the speed for me to play small ball and get him home.I guess another option would be to lead off Minoso and move Honus down to third, give him more RBI opps. Tough call.

man, I love Wagner-Yaz going 1-2not sure about that 3-5, power wise, but that's a solid lineup.

Yeah, not the greatest power grouping ever by any stretch. But for a pitching team in a big park I like it. Can definitely string together hits and manufacture runs.

CAVS UPDATE:not good
:gang:
:gang:
I hedged at the half. Should have known better backing a road team playing their second game in as many nights. As long as the Cavs don't lose by 8-10 points, I'll break even less juice....
why did you listen to me? i don't know #### about the nba. :rotflmao:
:gang: I bet it before you chimed in, just trying to let you feel included.

Also, I need to wager on the Cavs-Kings game.  Anyone have an opinion?  Kings are -7.5 at home.  Nine minute until i have to place the bet.
Bet the house on the Cavs.
Just hammered the Cavs +7.5....better be right. :gang:
"Ouch.":own3d:Guess you might want to consider Grease 3
