well, you shouldn't be shocked. guy could flat-out hit.frankly, i was a bit surprised myself that i went that way. when i went home that night, i made a list of 4 catchers that i wanted in the next round. Wally Schang was first on the list, but Spartans took him with the next pick. Daulton was on the list, too, but Tettleton was not. (Smokey Burgess was another; the 4th hasn't been picked.) But the more i looked into Tettleton's numbers, it became clear that he was the better pick for the team's needs.As some teams will soon discover, it isn't easy to find catchers who can hit well.I think his point was that he was surprised Tettleton was even selected.I was too

Ah, on second thought, I don't need that much time:Frank Chance, 1B/C
Chance is a Hall of Famer and a legend, although his hitting statistics aren't exactly impressive for a 1B. Playing in the deadball era his career slugging % was just .394, same as his OBP. While that OBP is pretty solid, Chance was more known for his defense and leadership. His nickname was the "Peerless Leader" and he was part of the legendary Tinker to Evers to Chance DP combination.
Chance will work well as a late-inning defensive replacement at 1B and an emergency catcher. I can already bring Lefty O'Doul and Roger Maris off the bench to pinch-hit so I'm not too worried about his lack of pop, although he can get on base and steal if need be.
Chance also ranks 21st all-time and 3rd at 1B in Win Shares per plate appearance. Don't know if that means anything but I did find it interesting.

I was going to draft my backup 3B here, but since **** Allen and Joe Torre can both play 3B I figured it would be more useful to have another 1B and get a better bat.
Camilli was a lefthanded slugger who ranks 86th all time in OPS and 100th in Adjusted OPS+. Patient and powerful hitter with a .388 career OBP and .492 SLG. Won the 1941 NL MVP. Also a fairly highly regarded defensive player from what I read.
Camilli was also a former boxer who could end clubhouse disputes with nothing more than a cold stare. Teammate Leo Durocher said, "Nobody knew how well Dolph could fight because, quite frankly, nobody ever wanted to find out."

Very underrated because his peak years were during the 60s (extreme pitchers era) on mediocre West Coast teams. Bill James has him as the 15th best SS of all-time (not counting the modern guys). I almost took him when i took Tony Fernandez, but i figured he might slip some more.
A six-time All-Star. A Gold Glove in 1967.
Came up with the Angels for good at age 20 (after a cup of coffee as a teenager). By age 21, he was their everyday SS. By age 22, he was the team leader.
Pretty much the only SS of any note left who hit above the league averages, with an career Adjusted OPS of 113. That's a better mark than some guy named Cal Ripken, Jr.

GWB, it might be more interesting if you run your SIM using 3rd best year by Win Shares, rather than by the same rankings that will be used in the regular SIM.
