***OFFICIAL*** FFA MLB Draft (1 Viewer)

Also, I have 11 pitchers and only 10 pitching spots. How would that work?
I'm going to end up with nine pitchers. It looks to me like WIS requires ten pitchers (yep ... I broke down and joined with a second e-mail addy to prepare for the sim). So a few teams will probably have to make a few waiver moves to be compliant to the sim....(side note: Frank Howard gets screwed royally on WIS.com. He has three nice-average 40+ HR seasons, and none of them happen to be his third-highest salary season  ) :hot: .

man..didn't even think about that..thought it was flexible to how you wanted to do your team.

where we at in this thing? Also, big  to Capella as this is coming to a close. Great job! Great job everybody else too. The sim should be fun. Also thanks for helping me out Oso, !
 good to see you are back.

I believe it's harriers pick. Cap and Nipsey have been skipped and can pick at any timeHarriers on the clock
I have Harrier's pick.He takes Al Spalding - P

All the rants were just to cover up his master plan of getting this 1870s stud......

btw, this was a joke.......just kidding.....haha.....OK. TIA

I looked around in the FAQs and stuff to see if there was a way around it. I didn't see one ... but I'd ask an admin over at WIS.com about it just to be certain.

Just noticed that I still have a $10 credit at WIS from when they first started up a few years ago. If we do include our teams, it'll only cost me $3. No Negro Leaguers though. We'd have to draft two more scrubs for our doormat teams.

Josh Gibson will win this thing all by himself....with his little sidekick Cool Papa. :justgreenwithenvyyougottodraftNegroleaguers:
I don't see any Negro Leaguers over at WIS. I don't think we'll be able to use them. And my team is going to come in well under the cap so we're probably at a disadvantage.
 You guys are going to let us in the WIS league. :excited: Andy Pettite's predicted statistics:7-22, 5.87 eraNo NeLers though? :hot: Josh Gibson will stay with me in spirit.

just so you guys know, we'll do all the sim stuff in this thread, so we smash into 400 pages.
 I just put my team into whatif sports (assuming I get my last player), and my team is 113 million dollars over the cap.....
Deadball pitcher taking SIM whore. For Harrier.
ONE deadballer.....without him I would still be 92 million over.I doubt I will get 21 million dollars out of Keefe, or will I?

Just realized that this means I'll be starting Scott Hatteberg at C. :bag: I go from possibly the best C of all time to Scott F-ing Hatteberg.

Yeah, that sucks. Luckily, I'll just be downgrading Oscar Charleston to Bobby Abreu or Magglio Ordonez. Not too bad of a downgrade.Losing Smokey Joe Williams in the rotation is a killer though. Ouch.

Al Spalding is not eligible. Only played 2 seasons in the NL (1876 forward).edit to add link
it was meant to be a joke. really not his pick.
guess i'm slow on the uptake today.good thing, btw. BP translates Spalding's stats to a modern-day 71-161, with an ERA of 5.72. they really hammer non-MLB stats, due to overall league inferiority, much like minor-league equivalents.

By the way, looking forward to seeing the smack talk once we get into the sim games over at WIS. That should be fun, matching up with everybody.
Speaking of which, what's the deal with that? Do you guys want to try and enter the post-1994 teams into WIS as well or is that strictly a tool for your draft? Either way is cool with me.Don't think we've even discussed this before.
I've been thinking about that..it would be 3 less 'dummy' teams we have to account for, but I'm not sure what everybody's opinion of it would be.Personally, I'd love to have you guys join, although I think you may have the best teams. All in fun anyways though, and you guys have been here throughout.
Honestly I thought that was part of the plan. :loco:
it is now  /cue nipsey rant
I have no problem doing this on the side....but the real sim should be just the 16 teams. It'd be a shame if one of the guys who hijacked the draft ended up winning it...

I've thought it over and have decided to allow Koya's selection of Bubbles Hargrave, even though it is an incredibly bush league move on his part. Next time I may not rule the same way, Koya, so be careful on your next pick.

Doug Takes Dan Plesac

I will do my best to stay connected for my pick. Wardriving (well, classroom warsitting) in NYC.

Good pick. It was either him or Gary Lavelle for my last pick. Figured Plesac had too many iffy seasons.

I actually had to look this up..Wardriving is an activity consisting of driving around with a laptop or a PDA in one's vehicle, detecting Wi-Fi wireless networks. It is also known (as of 2002) as WiLDing (Wireless Lan Driving), originating in the USA with the Bay Area Wireless Users Group (BAWUG). It is similar to using a scanner for radio. Most wardrivers will use GPS devices to find the exact location of the network found and log it on a website. For better range, antennas are built or bought, and vary from omnidirectional to fully directional. Software for wardriving is freely available on the internet, notably, NetStumbler (http://www.netstumbler.com) for Windows, MacStumbler (http://www.macstumbler.com) for Macintosh, and Kismet (http://www.kismetwireless.net) for Linux.

You'd be surprised at the number of random networks you can find in NYC and by the number that aren't protected. I knew people did that (there are websites out there that tell you all the wifi stuff for a given area) I just didn't know that was it's name.

I am in continuing Ed Courses for Real Estate, and my PDA did not get a signal, but the laptop seems to get JUST enough (in this seat, right next to the winder).

But at least we can determine a winner of our own draft even with the dummy teams involved. If the hijackers are let in, then it's not a clean result IMO.
How is it any different?By the way, when is your rehearsal with Joey Fatone?
It's different because it's not the league we started. You can throw in 50 other teams if you want, but unless it's just the original 16 (and dummy teams), the result will not be clean. We can not have hijackers winning the drafts of the threads they hijack. Sets an incredibly bad precedent for future drafts. No rehearsals. I'm a professional.
