As a rule of thumb, don't do anything to remind me of LB.Liberal and female Iranians are Iranian too--actually, Iran is one of the countries with a much larger liberal, civilized, and anti-clerical popultion. 'twas a venting post. Obviously I don't feel that way exactly. I do hate their govt. culture whatever but am in too bad a mood and not generally smart enough anyway to put that eloquantly/in a way that does it justice. Should have just said i'm disgusted (which is what i did do in that thread)

sign me up for that too. good idea Mr. Pickles. I have crossed over to the dark side and unignored a few. bad idea each time, but I'm a slow learner.
 
Haven't yet been able to find specific info on Diamond Legends's sim engine.

Here's the home page of their virtual tour. Not super informative.

There are pages where you can see players' salaries, though. You can see how they are based on careers. Also, only players HOF-eligible are used in the DL sim -- no Barry Bonds, Big Unit, or Roger Clemens.

Probably need to send the DL staff some e-mails to get better info.

Interesting. I just checked it out quick - 50 bucks a team is serious. It BETTER be good. I mean, once you know the WIS engine, 5 games for the cost of one might not be so bad.I am interested however.

The problem is, once you learn the WIS engine, you are no longer drafting what you think the best team of all time would be, you are drafting numbers that fit into a problem. That leads to you drafting guys like Paul Quantrill and the like.

I think we could structure a league to mimimize the Whatif Sim effects though. Make the RP have to have pitched so many innings over a certain span or stuff like that. This is a learning process.

I agree. Once again, I would rather be able to sim fish for the best years eligible for players I like, if that means only a small to very small difference in performance. a few ideas:

1920-present pitchers

1900-1989 batters

3rd/5th or worse seasons (or choice of any)

why not just make some minimum quality of career and let poeple pick the BEST season that player had...say:

10 season (season = 100 games for hitter, 70 games for RP, 20 games for SP or something like that)

or

some statistical thought (say, 300 HRs or 200 wins or 5 season at +.300 BA, etc.)

something like that where we can't pick just ANYONE, but it isn't too high that no one is available (I don't know how those thoughts would work)...

and then after we get our teams that meet those criteria... we can pick ANY season that player played in, no matter the WIS salary or anything else like that...

ST puts too much pressure on new recruits to come up w/ shtick. i tried. truckasaurus actually believed some of it and i know a few people were entertained in the "no _ _ _ _ _ _ _'s" thread (pretty hypocritical to call me racist).

why did she get 100 lashes?Also, if women should get the same rights as men, they should get the same punishment as men, so you in your Americanized way should be ok with the punishment... since there is no difference between men and women you shouldn't be any more enraged that a woman got 100 lashes than you are over a man getting 100 lashes...

pickles>hisee capella had a good 3-game series with harrier. all one-run games, he took game three. all could've gone the other way.

It's sad that the only thing keeping me from beating cheat_boy is shakey pitching. Gaylord Perry started off well, but now is in Long B duty with a 6.00+ ERA (last I checked, it was 7.00 actually). Orosco has melted down, Mike Marshall is slowly getting his act together and is now splitting setup duties with, of all people, LHP John Tudor, who, along with Wetteland, have been my only consistent money pitchers out of the 'pen. Roberts is getting his act together with a few solid performances. Sam McDowell is like Rick Ankiel: sometimes he's golden (this morning's game vs Cellar Dwellers, 8 IP, 12 K's, 1 BB, 1 ER), other times, he couldn't hit water if he fell out of the boat (god I love Bull Durham). Ruffing has been, for the most part, solid. Radbourn.....I don't want to start complementing him yet, he'll probably crap on my parade if I do.If only we could trade.....maybe I could pry Lefty Grove from Koya. :thumbup:

You won 1 out of 3, a .333 winning percentage. That's better than rest of the league when they come to my ball bark. They are 5-16, a .238 winning percentage.Ryan is a much better pitcher in my ballpark than he is on the road. Ryan, Koufax and Messersmith are all in the top 6 in career fewest hits per 9 innings. In a ballpark that neutralizes the home run, pitchers that don't give up many hits will fair even better in my park. I also stacked my lineup with players who were great without benefit of the home run. Looks like my strategy can work. I just hope it continues.

We will meet again, but at your park next time. I'm only 10-9 on the road.

You have a good team so even at Sportsman's it'll be tough. Despite some of the bumps along the way it's still damn fun. I'm in a tough stretch of games right now. Every team I go against looks unbeatable. Biggest surprise for me so far was taking two in a row from Belluchi's Bombers. Helps make up for the early season ### kicking I got from the Curse Reversing Idiots. Losing two out of two to the Nips is clearly the low water mark. :bag:
