ask John why Paul Quantrill is better than Eck.

Beat Syracuse! My all-star nominations (un-official)Pitchers; Fergie Jenkins and Rob Nenn. Fergie averages over 7 innings a start, has a 7-4 record, and a very respectable 3.35 ERA. Nenn has converted 14 of 15 save opportunities. The rest of the staff has been very solid, particularly the bullpen.Players; Tris Speaker, Ralph Kiner, Arky Vaughn, and Jackie Robinson. Tris is 3rd in the MVP race. He's hitting .366, has an OBP of .463, and is slugging .709. Ralph has hit 16 home runs, and drove in 49. He's hitting .279. Arky goes .290, .387, and .429. Jackie is at .255, .350, and .411. These are 4 of my 5 everyday starters (everyone but Mickey). They all sit out almost all the games against the dummy teams. Many of my platoon players have put up excellent numbers but for now not nominating anyone that doesn't meet the 3.1 plate appearances per game batting title requirement.

Thinking about this some more. Will have to see the pay-out schedule, but maybe we can just go for 16 guys, put a minimum of $1 per team, and say every participant has to buy atleast 4 teams (that way it doesn't get to a point where nobody will put up the buck for a 16 seed). Seems feasable. Of course if the interest dramatically increases we can always go back to the original format.

Simple payout schedule;

There will be 32 wins in the first round, 16 in the second, 8, 4, 2, and 1 in the following rounds. That's a total of 63 wins at 6 different levels. We'll take the total pool and divide it into 120 equal units or shares and pay off shares for each win (weighting wins more heavily each round). The championship team would pay off a total of 21 shares (over 1/6 the total prize pool). A sweet 16 qualifier would pay off 3 shares. A first round loser wouldn't pay off any. Again, I'll get WhoDat's pay schedule and see if it is different/better, but this seems feasable especially if this stays small.

1st Round 32x=32 units

2nd Round 16(x*2)=32 units

3rd Round 8(x*3)=24 units

4th Round 4(x*4)=16 units

5th Round 2(x*5)=10 units

Championship 1(x*6)=6 units

total=120 units

Using that pay-out system

Champion- 21 shares

Loser of the Championship game- 15 shares

Semifinal loss (Final 4 appearance)- 10 shares

Elite 8 loss- 6 shares

Sweet 16 loss- 3 shares

2nd round loss- 1 share

1st round loss- doesn't pay

Just to throw a round number out there lets say the prize pool is $500 (that's each participant or "wallet" spending roughly $30.

A share would be roughly $4.16 (It's $4.1666666, i'd suggest just rounding down the pennies until you get to the championship and then adding the extra few cents into the championship pool).

The champion would pay off approximately $87.36. Obviously if you get a couple lower seeds on the cheap they could give you a nice return on just a win or two.

adding in I'm not real familiar with internet forms of payment. I'm sure somebody could come up w/ a secure way to get the money passed around effeciently (maybe a mod...Mr. Tremblay?). The auction part could proboably be done right here in the FFA. Either an impartial moderator pulling the teams out of a hat and announcing who is up for bid or a nomination order for the participants (i'm sure we could all send in numbers from random.org or something to determine an order). Proboably something we could get done in a couple hours just in a thread in the FFA. Obviously all the participants would have to be available at the same time, but we could proboably work that out.

Cappy, Pumpnick, and SLBD have expressed interest. Have some (but not a lot so far) interest from the rest of the FFA. Anybody else in here want to give this a go? March Madness!

My all-star nominations (un-official)

Pitchers; Fergie Jenkins and Rob Nenn. Fergie averages over 7 innings a start, has a 7-4 record, and a very respectable 3.35 ERA.
I have three starting pitchers who are doing better than that.

Colome Is A God 6 10 0 Taurasi's Troopers 3 8 0 Bottom 9: Taurasi's TroopersJesus Colome '02 is the new pitcher. Jim Fregosi hits a single. [1] Tony Fernandez lines out to 2B. Ken Singleton gets walked. [12] Sam Thompson gets walked. [123] Mark Grace flies out to shallow CF. Pitching change: Jesus Colome '02 is replaced by Kevin Tapani '98. Robin Ventura hits a line drive single to LF. [123] Robin Ventura is being pinch-run for by Mickey Mantle. Mickey Tettleton hits a home run. Colome Is A God 6 10 0 Taurasi's Troopers 8 11 0 God bless Oso for getting me Mickey Tettleton. I think that's his third walk-off game winning home run.

Yeah. He's my best so far. Figured it's ballot worthy. He's been consistant so figured I'd give em some recognition. Only guy I really expect to make the team is Tris.

Man, Doug B just kicked the #### out of my team.

I haven't been handled that badly by anybody.

My team is like a cornered pit bull right now. The Patriot League wild card slot is the last bone in the dumpster, and your team was trying to make my team go hungry. After the Voodoo fell to 19-26, Ted Kluszewski threw a chair against the clubhouse wall and went to blows with Rob Dibble. Something in the team snapped at that moment ... they've gone 20-4 since.

No ####.Things were going well until about two days ago.

This series wasn't even competitive. You ####ed my two best pitchers up pretty well.

My high-strikeout batters found their way to the bench a few series back. I was pretty proud of my guys for only whiffing once against Randy Johnson.

Nips lose fourth in a row...but David Wells hits a 3-run, two out double.

That's all I was trying to do for the whole thing.

WINNER.

This is in a Shark Pool thread for commentary.

Let's Go: Football 2 is holding its initial dynasty draft now, if you'd like to observe/comment/analyze the teams.

The draft address is:

http://football.myfantasyleague.com/2004/o...ns?L=74618&O=17

The league starts:

2QB

2RB

4WR

1 Flex (RB/WR)

2TE

1K

1DEF

The league uses pretty much standard scoring, with .25pts per reception.

The rookie draft will be held in reverse order of this draft, so team #10 has rookie 1.1, etc.

Nope, I'm asking you guys to take a look at one of the dynasty leagues I commish and offer some commentary on the draft. Plus, I'm fishing for compliments on my own team.

that's fine... if you have it up tommorow night we have until Tuesday night/early Wednesday to vote...no big deal at all... in fact, major props on even finding the time to do it... *standing O for UCONN*

Armando Benitez 1.00 1 0 0 0 1 0 17 1.45 ERA
That's funny.
What's so funny about it? Benitez rules. Your bullpen on the other hand.. :rotflmao:
i hope your not planning on using him in the playoffs...Mr Benitez, is that a chicken bone in your throat or are you just choking naturally?
Is this an "overblown reputation for choking in the playoffs draft for whiney tool Mets fans" or an all time baseball draft? Please remind me. Benitez has been practically unhittable his whole career. Check out his '04 numbers (where opponents hit a stout .152 against him). Ridiculous. This sim bears that out. Take your bitterness elsewhere.

Right or wrong, the Whatif lets your mop-up/worst guy stay in the game to get pounded.
I never have set anyone to be my mop-up pitcher. i'm kinda glad of that now.
Mop-Up on my team is Bob Welch, my only pick while drunk off my ###. Guy barely gets in, but when he does, he pitches pretty good.....:startingrotation:

I couple of thoughts on my team...I currently average almost 6 runs a game aginst quality opposition. That's pretty nuts considering some of the pitchers we're facing.Brouthers has some really weird numbers. He's slugging .568 with only 5 home runs. That's pretty hard to do. I've yet to figure out the proper way to use him, though getting 51 RBIs out of the 8 hole is nice. Delahanty is also doing much better than I even expected. He too is putting up numbers like Brouthers. I think Averill is pissed I didn't nominate him for the All-Star ballot. He's been on a tear lately.

George Sisler is slugging .573 with only 6 HR's, he does have 27 Doubles and 11 Triples though so that helps explain it for the most part.

So they're putting up similar numbers.Any clue on the best way to utlize these guys?

I've been trying hit-and-runs, but don't know if that's really good since a double or triple should clear the bases anyway.

Sisler also has 23 steals, he's my leadoff man(scored 68 Runs). He doesn't walk a whole lot but I'll take the .387 OBP up top.

LOL that's about the worst OBP in my lineup.

That is the best OBP out of all my regulars(Joe D is second with.383). Walks are something my squad apparently refuses to settle for.

Afternoon scores are up.

Got some payback extracted against Nips. The Voodoo did a great job of chipping away at Cy "Ouch!" Young, hanging six runs on Nipsey's ace.
