***OFFICIAL*** FFA MLB Draft (1 Viewer)

But they haven't named who the VP will be?  If not, i know who it is if you want to know.
I don't think so. Santos turned him down so I assume they'll go after Baker - whoever the #### that is. Unless, you're talking about the Republican VP nominee. I'd be interested in hearing who that is. Hoines? Santos? No way that the current VP wins the election for POTUS. I think Alan Alda is a lock for it so I think they'll end up with some crazy #### like Hoines or Santos crossing party lines and being his VP.

Didn't you sign a confidentiality agreement? Perhaps Mr. Ham would be a less incriminating bearer of this spoiler.

That's actually all I really based my drafting on--ERA and WHIP (turns out that the ERA was useless, but I didn't know that--should have used OAV instead) and OBP and SLG. As a result, I have the lowest ERA, the highest OBP, and the best record in the league ...
There's an additional layer of complexity -- the WHIPs, OAVs, OBPs, and SLG numbers not only have to be good, but they have to be as far away from the MLB averages in a given year as possible (per some of the more knowledgable guys on WIS forums).I have three old-time pitchers with single-season stats comparable to your studs. My guys perform less well in large part because in their third WIS seasons, their stats were not quite so far above the average as in other years.

Subtle thing, but it made a big difference.

Let me guess, they're bringing back Sam Seaborne?

I did, but I had thought it already aired. I HAVEN'T SAID ANYTHING THAT MAY HAVE BROKEN MY AGREEMENT. (in case anyone sees this) Besides, nobody knows who I am. I could be Martin Sheen, you don't know.

Errors do too  :hot:
This is a big reason why in future sims, I really, really, really want to be able to pick the season used. Going strictly with "third season only" prevented us from making decisions based on factors such as defense.Heck, really I'd rather just pick any season with no restrictions. To keep the Brady Andersons out of an all-timer draft, we could impose minimum statistical standards of some kind.
That's not a bad idea.
While I'm trolling for ideas, what do you think of holding out for 24 drafters, taking time as needed to get a full set?Another idea while I'm on a roll -- teach everyone drafting to sim-fish up front, before the draft starts. Make WIS's stats more or less the default research tool everyone uses to construct their team.

I actually enjoyed the WIS sim, with all its quirks. I also enjoyed the All-Time MLB draft here on the FFA. It would be uber-cool to come up with a way to more closely mesh the two ideas together.
am I invited???
NO
wait... UCONN = Harrier??Otherwise... who asked you? (hint: nobody...)
I'm the commish for the next one, WPE. For winning this one, and recusing myself from having a team next time, that's my reward. All requests go through me.
ah... so Harrier doesn't like me so no matter what I do I'm not in...and since I, in my stupidity, gave him a reason he could justify not letting me in... He isn't going to...

makes perfect sense...

(doesn't make me the WPE at all... although it does nudge you a little closer to the people who actually deserve that title)

I will neither confirm nor deny this. Just know that Lowe really burned some bridges there, I'd be shocked if he ever came back.

You mean your stage name isn't Nipsey?

I'm really okay with calling that simfishing in that I drafted based on those stats--but I believe that the same thing would happen in real life that has happened in the sim.
The slightly dirty pool reputation of simfishing is not because you were using WIS for stats. It's because you were able to verify that your third seasons were just the right seasons to have for those players, while other drafters were flying blind relying on stats alone from other sites. That's an advantage that most other drafters didn't have (although a few guys did think of sim-fishing from the get-go).

Agreed...which makes drafting for the next year a drag since you basically have to go through every year and find out who was the best in each of these categories.

It's not just Harrier who won't do another league with you. The list was long. You burned your bridge here.

He was an idiot for leaving but I've always hoped that they'd find a way to bring him back.If this wasn't in the works, why wouldn't you just deny it? Must be something to it.

It's actually "Nipsey the Entertainer"

For winning this one,
Quoting this for when he loses in the playoffs.

Nothing to it as far as the VP goes. If they brought him back, I just don't know about it. I haven't watched the show in years.

Wonder if there's a way around this ... ?

We could always find another Sim, maybe draft before we pick it, or after as long as everyone has equal right to any privledged information.

The other thing is I don't know how good this would actually work. Granted it works for the most part, but there are still some major anomolies out there.

I think Alda is a lock for President so I don't think it matters who gets the VP nomination for the Dems. I have no clue who it could be.So, who is it?
A good way to find out if Alda is a lock or not is to check the trades and see if he has a contract for next year.

True, I suppose it's something that the group could collectivly research

Actually, now that I think about it, this is why WIS uses a salary cap -- so that people aren't just picking from statistical laundry lists. Normally, people have to balance their team's needs and make sacrifices here and there.Would anyone be up for doing this on WIS with a lower salary cap? Still have a draft, just not necessarily all All-Timers.

I don't know what "trades" you're referring to. Who's the VP nom for both sides?
Variety, The Reporter etc...I only know who the Dem nom is and all I'll say is that he knows his way around a White House.

f'n nipsey.

almost gave him a shout-out on the radio yesterday as well.

:sadbanana: :kicksrock1:
:rotflmao: That would have been classic. I wish you did give a "shout out to the big girls" in the area. They'd have played you on Rome and that site would have gotten some serious hits.

Don't tell me it's ####### Josh Lyman. Or worse, Bartlett.
Neither of those guys have ever been to the white house, i don't think. Sheen may have i guess.
Ahhhhhhhhhh-nold?My only real guess would be Fred Thompson, but he's already on one show

Both of those guys crossed my mind but it would be lame.
It's Mickey Rourke. They want to go for the whole 9 1/2 weeks thing with him and Donna. Ice cubes on the nipples, the works.
