So I signed up for the BetMGM app and received $200 in free bets. Basically 4 bets at $50 each.

I'm pretty new to this sports betting thing. Any good ones out there to look at to use their free money? I don't know anything about parleys or all that fancy razzmatazz - so simple bets would be good to start.

Are you wanting to just straight bet football, with the point spread? Like bet $50 to win $95 that Alabama -41.5 covers, that sort of thing? Do you want to bet CFB, NFL, MLB, something else. The world is your oyster man.

Yeah, and probably just football for now. Would probably lean more NFL since that's what I watch the most.

I mean, there's all sorts of touts and handicappers you could follow (including in this thread), but generally those are a 50/50 proposition - or worse. If you're just looking to have some fun, I'd pick an NFL game you think should be high scoring and bet the over, and an NFL game where you think a team is terrible and bet the other side. You could even be a homer and bet the Chiefs, or you could bet Arizona +4.5 and if KC wins but by 1-4, you are both happy AND rich. :D

You're going to want to bet all $200 of that on one bet. Then you're going to want to take the winnings of that bet and roll it onto one more bet. At that point, it's your choice if you want to take a payout or roll all those winnings into another bet to go for $800.
 
PrizePicks had a promo where if you made a deposit, you get a free NFLSZN 5 pick bet. Mine is worth $1,000 if it hits. Too late to change now but which of these is bad/good?

The only overs I really like are breakout players with lower totals. RB rushing totals are great unders in general.

Sign up for every book that has free bets/bonuses for new users imo

Draftkings Sportsbook is my favorite
 
One player prop that is getting a lot of play is Trey Lance rushing yards over 525. It’s pretty attainable even if he misses a couple of games.
 
My week 1 NFL bets (I got most of these in early so some of the lines are different now):

2U:
Seahawks +6.5

1U:
Steelers +6.5
Pats +3
Bucs -1.5
Packers -2
Panthers -1.5
Raiders +4
Chiefs -3
Cardinals +6 (I don’t love this one, but already had Chiefs -3, so decided I’d take a chance at hitting the middle with the recent line movement)

.5U:
Parlay: Rams ML, Raiders ML, Pats ML (+1135)

I agree with FairWarning, and believe it is the only true way to find value in sports betting. The people that set the opening lines know way more than we do, so a common schlub is not going to beat them by betting games before they start.

But odds makers do make mistakes and sometimes they make a team way too big of a favorite or way too big of a dog. Hopefully this is apparent as the game goes on and we can capitalize on it.

Nice middle opp in the KC game. You don’t see many chances at a 3 point NFL middle.

I also just added: Saints/Falcons to be the highest scoring game Sunday at +3500.

Atlanta might struggle to score points, but I think +3500 is too much value to pass on. These teams have historically had a lot of shootouts, and maybe Jameis can throw a pick 6 or two to help add on some points.

Really just looking to hear arguments to maybe aid Survivor picks.

This guy is a part of several different podcasts I enjoy. DO NOT tail him blindly, but there is good discussion to be heard.

He was on this one today, along with Rob Pizzola, and I thought it was worth a listen to make me think differently on a couple of games.
