IT WASN'T A "HEDGE."
I know it wasn't. That didn't stop you from calling it one.
I didn't call it a "hedge" in the sports bet sense, I used the term "hedging" in a more broad sense. Sorry if I offended the sports betting nerds there.
Do you go out of your way to try to offend everyone? I pray we never cross paths in RL.
You want to mess with me and my crew? i swear to god ill give you my address and you can come over and see what happens...my homies and i will take care of it.Harrison Stevens

Final thought on Favre: You may like this guy or you may hate him. What he does off the field can be debated. What he does on the field is play the game exactly how its supposed to be played. The reason he keeps retiring is because he loves the game so much. With the Jamarcus Russells of the world we should all feel blessed we got to watch the ol' gunslinger one more season. And what a season. What a warrior. I hope he squeezes out one more, but I digress.

Great game. Can't wait for the last one.
Good posting here. As a Raider/Bills fan I'd kill for a guy like Favre. Favre made a horrible decision and pass but Childress put them in that position with play calling and the penalty. The guy came back at 40 and led his team to NFCC game and rode his play to get that far. Big losses for the league if Favre & Warner retire this year. Amazing lack of quality QBs in NFL.

Horribly officiated game. BUT, since it cost both teams in crucial situations, you have to put the onus back on the players. The difference in the game was a Favre pick and Hartley making the kick of his life. In the end, the Saints did more than the Vikings and won the game. No more, no less. Anything else is sour grapes.

Vikings should cut or trade Peterson after his performance tonight.
Yes, 120+ and 3 TDs is brutal. You do realize that he had 0 lost fumbles right? Even if you give him the 1 at the goal line, still, he's not why the Vikes lost. Yes, I realize he had 2 other fumbles, but those were both overcome. He'll figure out the fumbling thing. He has less total fumbles and Fumbles per Carry than Walter Payton did at this point in his career.I would rather have Peterson as my starting running back than any other player in the NFL (including Chris Johnson).

I'm sure this must be disheartening for the Vikings and their fans. It is one thing to have to resolve a loss, it is another to have to do so while questioning what might have been with different refs.

Great game Brett. It's clear to me at this point that you are no normal man, and are powered by your haters. Once they go away, so will you. Can't wait to see which team you make an Insta-Contender™ next year.
This is classic..Weren't you a hater for 16 years when he was with us? And now you're hating on the haters??

Wow, i got no dog in the fight but the OT officiating was terrible.

-Kick-off return, Viking got tackled blowing open that huge hole

-A couple of really questionable spots

-The PI penalty was ridiculous

-Meachams pass hit the ground, no question.

But on the upside, no more Favre!!!
The entire officiating crew should be fired tonight. I'm kind of glad to see the Saints make the Super Bowl, but I would have preferred to see them win it rather than have it handed to them by bad officiating. Such a great, close game should be decided by the play on the field.
5 turnovers and you're blaming the refs? Come on..
I did not watch the whole game, but the taste I'm left with in my mouth is that the vikings kinda got hosed in OT as a result of the officiating, particularly on that pass interference call
5 turnovers. There is simply zero else worth arguing.Well, other than how many people Otis can try to belittle.
"Sports betting nerds" hit home for you?

I was glued to the TV and had no chance to read the thread.

Congratulations to the Minnesota Vikings on a great game and for a great season.

Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints for going to the Super Bowl!!!!

One obvious thing...there is no way New Orleans wins this without home field advantage.

Go Saints Go!!!

One of the sloppiest and most poorly-officiated professional football games I've ever watched on a television. Zero hyperbole here.
 The 4th quarter and OT was hard to stomach.
This. I wish I didn't have money on it -- I'd have turned it off and looked for Cheers reruns.
Cheers is a good show.BTW - I'm not even remotely bothered by your gambling escapades. Just trying to rile up folks. Things will get boring here now that the game is over.

Well, other than how many people Otis can try to belittle.
Why are you offended by his comment? I'm far more offended by Otis jawing about how he's so important and wealthy that he drops $3K on sports betting.
fasteddie is mad that I think he's ridiculous about his pet dog.I'm neither important nor wealthy, which is why I could have used the 3 grand. (It was a bet placed with other winnings.)HTH

The saints are incredibly bad. The Jets would have made this a more interesting Super Bowl. The Colts are going to absolutely dismantle them. It will likely end up embarrassing. Seriously.
seriously? you better call Payton and make sure they don't go there and embarrass themselves. really no point in playing the game now that you have seriously decided the outcome already.

Love all the Bears and Packers fans in here cheering for Brett losing when their team didn't even sniff the NFCCG.
:rolleyes:If he had stayed with the Jets I'd be rooting for him. He went to Minn for one thing, to stick it to the Packersm thus sticking to the Packer fans.Go home Brent.
Good point. It must feel good to have the Packers still playing while Brett is going home. Oh wait....
And in a year you're going to be pissed you extended your coach for so long, just like the Bears are with Lovie Smith. And you didn't even get a Superbowl appearance to show for it. That's terrific. At least we have a QB that might not suck one day to look forward to next season, and we're closer to firing our crappy coach than you are.

The officiating could have been better but I don't think it was much worse than a typical NFL game. The Vikes didn't lose due to bad calls. They lost because they couldn't hold on to the ball.

And "hedging" is a play that locks in profit. Otis hedged today and still lost over $3K? He's the worst gambler of all time. Like, if-LHUCKS-bet-with-real-money bad.

I don't think the people that cashed their bets today were offended, loser.
Win big, hoss?

At least that mission was accomplished... twice.I love having that guy on our team!
What mission was accomplished? The only thing accomplished was that we got a higher draft pick..lol..

What does HTH mean?Link to the pet dog stuff? That sounds better than the 2nd half of the Saints-Vikings game.

I'm sure this must be disheartening for the Vikings and their fans. It is one thing to have to resolve a loss, it is another to have to do so while questioning what might have been with different refs.
And if the ref throws the flag on the obvious facemask in the Packer/Zona game, we might have been playing the Vikings in Minnesota tonight. If wishes were fishes we'd all have a fry. Can't put it on the officials when the Vikings turned the ball over on a consistent basis. They didn't deserve to win.

Why do people insist on saying this? The turnovers and the calls are completely independent of each other. Would you say the Saints didn't deserve to win because they couldn't beat a team who turned it over 5 times in regulation? The Vikings coughing the ball up is one reason they lost. Some of the calls that were made are another reason they lost. If one of the two didn't happen, they probably would have won.

Also, Vikings fans would have been annoyed watching the announcers slober all over Brett Favre and his acting all day long had he not been playing for any other team. It was pretty bad. They have to punt the ball, and Brett hobbles off the field while wincing and holding onto his leg. They score a TD and he could probably do a backflip. And the bad officiating went both ways. Favre gets hit cleanly, but because he acts hurt enough they give him a flag. For a second, you thought his arm was going to fall off. Then you see the play, and he just got put onto his back. And then he's up there at the line acting like nothing happened 5 seconds later. It was kind of pathetic.

First of all, congrats to Saint fans. I will be rooting for you guys in the SB.

Just awful for the Vikings to lose the way they did. Just a gut punch to see the Saints get every single call in overtime. That PI was inexcusable. Barely any contact and the ball was 10 yards over his head. Just can't excuse that terrible of a call in OT.

However, you could feel something like that coming. Refs were terrible all game long. Vikings got a lot of ticky tack calls early so maybe it's poetic justice.

Now, besides all that, the Vikings lost this game themselves. You can't turn the ball over 5 times in a championship game and hope to win the game. Favre, gotta love what he brought the team this year, but that INT was :bag: . He could've run the ball for 4 or 5 yards and been in good position for that field goal. Guess that's the bad side of Favre, but I still don't have any ill will towards him. That game would've been over by the end of the third quarter with TJack in the game.

I can't believe how well the D played in the second half. The Vikes can definitely build on this. I guess it's probably too much to ask, but this team with a full offseason of workouts with Favre is the favorite in the NFC next year. However, as a Vikings fan I know that dreams like this don't happen to the purple and gold.

Thank you. It's almost as if the series of very questionable calls that went for the Vikings earlier were completely wiped out of everyone's memory banks. The game was ultimately decided by a Favre pick and a clutch FG by Hartley.

This happens with just about any QB in the league. Getting hit hurts, and Brett got hit a lot. He's 40 years old, he's not milking it. TD's are probably a better painkiller than morphine, and I mean that seriously. It's amazing how fast you forget you're hurt when the adrenaline gets pumping. Whether you are a lover or hater of Favre there is one thing that we can all agree on and that is that he is one tough son of a #####.

Yeah, that's what hurts the most about it. It wouldn't have been so bad if NO had made a huge play in OT and won it because really the Vikings gave them the opportunity for that. I guess both Packers and Vikings fans can lament over the refs this offseason now.

Jesus, I really wish anyone that has this sentiment would have the opportunity to get driven into the ground by a 350 pound man with pads on. Hurts like hell. Favre will have a ton of bruises after this game and he played through some pain at the end. Quit hating on the guy.

No, not really. Only the teams you're a fan of.Turnovers and play calling were the gamebreakers, but people always want some sort of turning point to point their finger at (the OT PI call). What ruined the Vikes was Chilly's play calling within the last minute of the game and the turnovers.

Otoh, maybe it was Prince's song...

The Saints did not play a very good game, but I'm happy for Brees and the Nawlins fans. However, if they bring that game they just laid down tonight against the Colts, they are going to get demolished.

Those who say that the Vikes got ripped off by the refs need to take a look at the penalty totals. Vikes 5-32, Saints 9-88. If anybody got "Doneghy'd" here it was the Saints.

Saints couldn't smile at Brett Favre without getting a 15 yard penalty.

The Saints did hold the hell out of Jered Allen. Every play, and sometimes multiple times by multiple players during the same play. That guy is a beast.

Luckily the Saints have two weeks to prepare for the Colts. I'm hoping for similar results when the Saints had two weeks to prepare for the Cardinals. (Yes, that includes Painter taking over for Manning somewhere in the second quarter).

Saints have only one chance, and that's to hit Payton Manning like they did Brett Favre today.

The Saints certainly did not "deserve" to win, either. They were beaten in almost every statistical category except turnovers. I cannot help but feel that the better team lost this game.
That's football my friend. We're the Jets really a better team than the Chargers?
