I have never played on xbox live before. How badly is my ### going to be kicked?BTW, I got the game last night and it's awesome. Just waiting for the network adaptor.
I say that there's a about a 30 minute learning curve. Although I had my moments where I feel I played well. there were many times where I was left spectating everyone else. There is good balance.

OK. I just woke up. We played until 1:00 ish last night. I actually had dreams of this damn game last night. I haven't had that much fun in a videogame since Goldeneye back on the N64. As for the echo on the mics, I think it when someone's not properly connected to the controller or their connector is dirty. Usually when the offender with the bad mic leaves, everyone else's mic is ok.I LOVE the sniper rifle. LOVE IT. Also if you hold down the left button (not the trigger, but the button above it) you can tell where your teammates are. Very helpful when trying to find them to revive them.My favorite maps so far are: Mansion, Warzone, Rooftops, & Canals. If you try to go in guns blazing, you will get :own3d: quickly.I might want to try some of the single player co-op today if anyone's around during the day. I'm off from work for 2 days. The funniest thing is that I was playing while sitting next to my wife and niece. My wife says, "THat is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen!" My niece says, "I know...ain't it cool!"THIS GAME ROCKS. Period.See you online, gentlemen.
Did your niece ask "Uncle U, why do you keep pwning || Dykstra || 's face with your chainsaw?"

I'd agree with this. After about an hour I started to really get the hang of a couple things, and I had a stretch here or there like I felt I was kicking butt, but I also had stretches after that where I got completely :own3d:

It doesn't seem to matter. I used to play a ton of Halo 2 and got fairly good at that and I felt like a total noob last night. But it had been over a year since I had played any sort of shooter online.

I LOVE the sniper rifle. LOVE IT.
:finger:How about letting someone else get it once in awhile, chief?
Did Horace Grant ask MJ if it was alright if HE took the last shot? Didn't think so...J/K No problem, man. Didn't know ya wanted it. The trick is to pickup the other weapons while not losing the basic rifle w/the chainsaw on it.
I was just kidding. I only had it once when I stumbled upon it early on. I never could find it again after that. Seems like you knew where it was every time.

hilarious. i didn't even know you can go out and "get" the sniper rifle. I tried to find and equip it a few times from my own arsenal. I figured we all had different weapons.noob :nerd:

my new goal in life will be to develop deady, anti-sniper tactics. Got my skull blown off way too many times by you last night.:nerd:My favorite thing so far is the bow. Late in the night (once I finally figured it out) I put an exploding arrow into someones skull at point blank. The 5 second delay from when it hits till it explodes is pure genius.

I'm debating the whole finger in the mouth thing this morning at work so I can get back to playing GOW. I finally figured out that satellite gun and can't wait to figure out some of the others.

My biggest hurdle so far has been getting used to playing a FPS on a console. Controller v. Mouse/keyboard.

As someone posted, 8 v. 8 would be a huge difference. The strategies (or the lack thereof sometimes :bag: ) seemed to vary drastically when it was 4 v. 4, 3 v. 3, ect.

Any of you uber :nerds: know if the setup could be expanded +8 players at some point without having to make a whole new game?

:lmao: Does your boss require proof of illness or something (or are you just a really bad actor)?

They could do it with an Xbox Live download.

I have two people at work with Live that could easily log into the Xbox site and see if I was online during the day. I don't think they know that but it's possible.

If they could do this, the smartest play for them would be to make us pay for it as an "expansion" in about 8 months when we all are burned out.

pretty hard to get ouf of work in the Coast Guard, but with tomorrow a holiday today is basically friday. Tomorrow also marks the end of my timeout with my screen name and I can ditch this alias for a while.

Hopefully I can get in tonight.

Played for about 4 hours last night with some friends. Not a big shooter guy but this game is phenomenal.

I stink but it's so much fun.

The one thing that I don't like is to play multi player from one console on live you have to have 2 gamertags. My kid was itching to get in there and destroy us all last night but I had to explain to him that I'm not buying a 1 year gold membership for a second gamertag, however he is more than welcome to. I like with Halo2 how unranked games can have as many as 3 other non live players on one box.

the hammer of dawn is a special gun like the sniper rifle that is spawned on various maps (can only be used outdoors). as for xbox live.. get your points ready i bet epic releases a ton of new maps for this game

I have picked up a ton of really cheap points and have over 3200 still in the kitty after buying a bunch of games.

Really? So it's something you have to pick up? I think I may have had it at one point but didn't know what it was. :bag:

How?
Watching SLickdeals.net every day and finding the lowest prices - around $10 for 1600 pts, and then getting the $4.99 for 1600 pts at BB last week.

dumb question probably-

but when behind cover your Only two options are fire "blindly" around a corner, or zoom and expose your head right? i have found firing blindly is pretty worthless, and i end up sticking my head out regardless and just hoping to kill them first. am i doing something wrong with the "gun only" around the corner shooting? or is there a third option? it just doesn't even seem to make a dent in people unless im zoomed in?

No that's about it. The blind fire is tough to aim. It's really to just lay down fire until you can move or line up the guy for a kill.Other than the sniper, long range fire is not going to kill someone quickly. It'll take a bit.

i need a ton of points.. i want to buy a lot of arcade games but at $20 for 1250 points we are getting ripped off (in Canada)

Great time last night.

I'm quite afraid for all my other bad habits today, as this baby has serious life-suck potential.

In addition to the teammate revival feature (also known as furiously tapping the A-button in vain), I also noticed that the microphones switched over to team-only once the matches started. I'm usually don't chat a great deal when playing, but I can see this game is going to demand good communication for effective teamwork.

Speaking of strategy ...

Later that night after most of you caved, I was playing with some hardcore Halo dorks. While they were obviously still picking up the nuances of the game, their teamwork was incredible. I found out later they all went to the same college and had all sorts of coded plays for various situations.

I killed several of them over the course of the next 30 minutes, but my team never even got close to winning a match. It seemed like every time I popped one of them, I'd immediately find myself in a crossfire from two or three others, and I can think of only one or two instances where I wasn't taking heavy fire from the damn Dawn Hammer after going to town with the chainsaw.

At any rate, thanks again for the games and for starting the list in this thread. Multi-player is SO much better when you at least have an idea with whom you're playing. GRAW has gotten so bad lately with all the 13-year-olds screaming into the mics with Celine Dion voices, I rarely play unless folks on my list show up.

You get close to someone you hit X to revive them (it pops up). Tap A is to slow your blood loss down so you don't bleed to death until someone can help you. Theres no worse feeling than being alone tapping A hoping your teammate shows up and eventually it's the other team that chainsaws you :)I don't like talking either and don't play online a ton because of the "whipper snappers: :P

Bwa ... EXACTLY my point. I got pwnd during one of our games last night, and was *lucky* enought to have teammates on both sides firing away as I furiously pounded my A button to no avail.I know Usual was one of them, but I think I got him back by bleeding all over his pants. My team is a d***.

You could still play online but in your settings you could make it look like you are "offline". I've done it beofre.

Epic said that most of the downloadable content will be free. MOST.

That should go over well with the wife :D

Yep, lost voice and all last night as I've been sick for 7 days now and still have not gotten my voice back.

The split-screen feature absolutely wears me out.

Played that for about an hour last night and had to quit for a while after the headache ensued.

I'm sure pounding back Sam Adams throughout the evening didn't help, either.

Is that during co-op campaign? I haven't even played campaign yet.

yeah I wish the split screen was left to right instead of up and down.

I won't be on till probably 8 pst tonight as I have alot of stuff to do, then again I'll probably be on from 230-430 pst also. :banned:

Yes, it's on the campaign (co-op mode).Fear the Berserker.FYI ... it looks like One is going to be the first FBG to complete the campaign. He's on ACT 3 right now playing on hardcore.
