Ya know, that was funny as all hell last night. But tonight, it happened again. I'm gonna start taking this #### personal now
-feI tried to go online a few times and I am experiencing some pretty bad lag. For instance, I will be walking up steps and the next thing I know I am down at the bottom of the steps where I started. Pretty F'd up. Are you guys seeing the same thing? My connection has always been pretty good, not sure what is going on.

I miss you guys. Orlando with no Gears is just awful.I've never seen a bit of lag and I use a wireless connection with my 360.

If any of you guys are into racing, we picked up PGR this weekend and it definately gets my
.I also need to get my connection fixed. I currently have my xbox hooked into an old laptop with a wireless card, and it'll let me connect but not has problems when it comes to playing other people. I'll probably pick up the wireless thing for the xbox.

The other thing I hate most -- the bastards who are really good with the grenades, when they pull that move on you where they roll up out of nowhere, stick it to you, and roll back away, as you sit in a fit of panic awaiting the impending explosion.

Never got my mic to work. Can hear through it and it shows the little mic symbol when I talk between games, but nothing comes out. I feel like I got a FBG timeout or something.

I had this happen one night. Couldn't hear anyone else, not sure if they could hear me. Plugging and unplugging the mic didn't work at all. But after shutting down and restarting it fixed it.Never got my mic to work. Can hear through it and it shows the little mic symbol when I talk between games, but nothing comes out. Played a few quick games last night just to get a feal for live and the damn thing never worked. I could hear, sometimes, but it never really worked.

Now that's good info! Is this in cover or out? Or both? And do you mean pushing down like a click (ala crouch in Halo 2) or pulling back in the opposite direction you're facing?

It could be either the mic switch, mic volume or low batteries (unplugging and re-plugging the headset has also worked for some).
An easy way to test your microphone is to record a voice message to someone and then play it back in the message preview (you don't actually have to send it in order to do this).
If you hear nothing but static, you have a problem and need to check one of the above items.
FE, after playing all afternoon and much of the four previous evenings, my wife finally drew a line in the sand last night. I tried to flank her by moving through the garage, but she dropped with the Boomer before I could get behind kitchen cover.
I even had locusts in my dreams last night.

You can do this while out of cover. Basically if You're being chased, pop a 180 and then tear into the guy. If I remember correctly, you just push down, no clicks.

After some more digging, it looks like the intermittent mic troubles are a result of the latest LIVE patch and is a Microsoft issue. The best solution thus far has been to end the room and create a new one, but several other fixes have had success, as well, including reconnecting the mic AND controller, restarting the console, and making sure NAT is open on the router (if you use one).

tried this with you in fact. You reported static only. I tried EVERYTHING last night. thought maybe it was Otis's server, but it did the same for other servers.I can hear everything but no one can hear me (and as noted above, the mic light lights up when I talk in the game setup screen).very odd.Today's a new day, hopefully it will work.

Now that most of us have had the game for a few days, I propose we hold a FBG round-robin tournament this Friday evening at 10pm CST.
We'll take four captains ... a bold name indicates that person is IN.
Current player count: 5
1. stonereaper9
2. Tango Zulu
3. Otis66
4. Usual21
And then draft teams of four from the talent pool below. Interested players can sign up either in this thread, or we can start a new tournament thread on the board to keep this one uncluttered. On Thursday, we can hold the tournament draft and then slot the pairings. I'm thinking three best-of-five matches, followed by a best-of-seven skirmish between the top two teams to determine the weekly champ.
Also, this is meant to be FUN more than anything else. While some of you might be a bit timid about playing online, realize one thing. I am the absolute KING of spectating during matches, and none of you are going to come close to taking my crown. Have fun and, if nothing else, you can enjoy the refreshments I'll bring to the death lobby.
Now, all that's left is to find out who's in. While we have 20+ GoW nics right now, I'm guessing not all are going to be available on Friday; however, if we have more than 16 interested, we can certainly add another team or two.

Good question. While I'd say random draft order and then a serpentine format, a lot of us are somewhere around the same skill level I'd imagine, with a few exceptions on either side of the equation. It's open to suggestion, though. I'm just here to organize the damn thing and then bleed on people come Friday.

The only time the symbol comes up is if i unplug and plug it back in.Gonna go get a new one right now. Let you know if it solves the problem, it better!

I checked the GoW message boards and they say it's a bug with XBox Live. Apparently Epic is working on a solution. I had the same problem on and off all night tonight, BTW.same problem I had last night. If you talk between rounds, does the mic symbol by our name light up?Just played a few games.
