Official Great Works Draft (1 Viewer)

Weren't we supposed to have "partners" that would evalute the judges' picks? Could I petition to have someone with taste evaluate my movie and acting performance picks?
So basically you want someone who spends a ton of time here without actually being involved so that he can judge a few small things, which automatically means he has no life, and he also has to really really enjoy watching movies about donkeys and enjoy them so much that it moves him to want to help you.You are looking for a no life, internet sidekick who is "moved" by movies about animals. Nah, that shouldn't be too hard to find here.

I am killing it the last few rounds - Pilgrims Progress, Blonde on Blonde by Dylan, Wine, The Lighthouse at Alexandra, and The Statue of Zeus at Olympia - that is TWO wonders of the Ancient World after round 30!

So that's what one hand clapping sounds like.....
Wait till I bring a detailed analysis of my draft :boxing:
I can sum it up in two words...it sucks. You're welcome.

This from a guy who drafted the silent acting performance in the 8th, Great Gatsby in the 5th, The United Nations Charter, The Sex Pistols and Public Enemy, Shawshank and Wrestlemania, all before round 25.

There's several other good Eagles albums, even if the best one has just been selected.

Not too many quality donkey movies left though...
STILL ON THE BOARD!
Don't even go there. That was a football classic, and one of the great sports epics of all time. And that was no donkey kicking those field goals, that was a mule. There's plenty of high quality mule motion pictures. We could have made a separate category for it. How DARE you?
:lmao: What's the difference between a donkey, a mule, and an ###?

C'mon, I'm just setting someone up for a joke here!

Also, I don't really know the difference.

Also, in case it wasn't clear, I'm joking about having someone else evaluate my picks. I'm fine with tim.
A mule is half donkey, half horse. YWIA

I'm going to start round 34 off with another album. It will be interesting to see how this one ends up getting judged, but I believe it to be the best in its genre and therefore it should go pretty high, although it is unlike anything else taken to this point.

And it is at this juncture that I must protest the blanket language filters on this site. There are occaisons where the F word is required. There are also occaisons where a certain word must be used that some find offensive, even when no offense is meant. It is one of those times.

This album won the grammy in 1974. It is considered still the finest work by its performer, and that praise is enormous when you review his massive collection of works that we have been given to listen to. This was the album that blew the doors off the entertainment industry and make him an icon. His greatest multiplied after this recording. At only 32 minutes long it is a titan in the album category up against hour long competition. But this 32 minutes keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Laughing your f****** *** off every single second.

I select, That Ni****'s Crazy, by Richard Pryor

"I Hope I'm Funny"

"###### With A Seizure"

"Have Your ### Home By – 11:00"

"Black And White Lifestyles"

"Exorcist"

"Wino Dealing With Dracula"

"Flying Saucers"

"The Back Down"

"Black Man/White Woman"

"######s Vs. The Police"

"Wino And Junkie"

"Mrs. Giotta"
What is the very last pick I ever expected to see Yankee make?
Why? I can hear Richard.
:lmao: Jive turkey

BTW, for albums, since Mr. krista4 never checks in to this thread, my plan was to give him a list of the albums drafted without any names of posters attached. That way he won't know what I drafted. If he were to guess, I'm sure he'll think I took Pet Sounds (still :lmao: at Genezai for that one).

You could always ask Larry Boy. Back in the GAD, he made a big deal out of liking Donkey Kong.
On the "partner" front, anyone ever find out who wikkid's judging partner was?
His other personality, Chester Whaspenbergur IV. Upper crust, old money. Very in tune with the "regular chap" as he called everyone who didn't own at least 5 yachts. Spoke with a British accent but everyone in his family is 6th generation inbred (to make sure they don't mix with new money or, for shame, regular chaps) Swedish, and there was an uncle about 600 years ago that was a gay gigilo in Russia.

dammit- I was looking at that Richard Pryor for later... nice pick, Yank.

and the Encyclopedia was a great pick too- but ####, I was taking the Upanishads THIS ####### ROUND. It's like getting either testament or the quran but trippier and in the 30ish round. SOD.

Oh... did I miss a donkey movie pick? Was it Bachelor Party?

This from a guy who drafted the silent acting performance in the 8th, Great Gatsby in the 5th, The United Nations Charter, The Sex Pistols and Public Enemy, Shawshank and Wrestlemania, all before round 25.
This from a guy who took a wildcard round 1. Nothing wrong with the pick but seriously I think it was 10 rounds before anyone even touched that category.

30.10 El Floppo Invention Steel

31.11 El Floppo Play The Tempest William Shakespeare

32.10 El Floppo T.V. Show Dekalog Krzysztof Kieslowski

I have no clue on 29.11 or 32.10... never seen it or heard of it. that said the other 3 are rocksolidgold.

tim, a couple of album questions:

1. I assume multi-album sets count as one album?

2. Originally I think you had written that "best of" albums and some other categories would not be eligible, but the rule now says "all genres welcome". Is it now the case that any album can be drafted?

Thanks.
as the music judge, i can prolly shed some light on criteria. no "best of"s or box sets, multi-disc releases qualify as albums unto themselves as long as it was the intention of the artist to offer their work that way. live albums are out unless they constitute defining moments for the acts involved ("break-out" or "farewell" records or those which marked the advent of a "sound" in artists' careers). you are welcome to make the case for any recording (i may need to consult with unc hummas on some jazz records, with many of the early albums being compilations of old 78rpm single releases), but any any attempt to get most-hits-for-the-buck out of their album selections will see them sink quickly to the bottom of wikkidlists. nufced
Thanks. I think the one I'm considering would qualify under the wikkidcriteria, but I might PM you if we get there and I'm about to choose it.[clip]
I had intended to run an album choice by wikkid to see if he thought it fit his criteria above. Now I can't do that, and I don't want to consult with Mr. krista4 as that seems like cheating. Who can rule whether an album is eligible? tim? Hummus?

32.10 is just some obscure art-house stuff about writing on tablets or something.

I'm a ####### genius.Fire it over here and let me run my Bunny el Floppo magic on it.

No Matter the Category - I feel the most amazing thing Mankind has accomplished evah would be sending a manned ship to set foot on the moon in 1969, and then bring them home again safely.

Round Ten

1. Yankee23 Fan American Football - Wilson from Castaway. He has mad skills. Won't even realize he isn't oblong.

2. Tirnan The Charge of the Light Brigade - Could the Energizer Bunny pull this off?

3. Genedoc A Midsummer Night's Dream - Steven Wright would be perfect for this. I used stain remover to clean my dog spot. Now, I can't find him.

4. DC Thunder Bayeux Tapestry - In this sequel to the Waterboy, Adam Sandler tries to paint about his feelings on water.

5. Scott Norwood Pachelbel's Canon - Find the most annoying person in hollywood that you are forced to see over and over and over and over and over. Kathy Griffen?

6. Bob Lee Swagger Roberto Benigni in Life Is Beautful - he sucked enough on his own. The only person more annoying I can think of is Rudy Guiliani's son.

7. Misfit Blondes Anne Frank's Diary of a Young Girl - Jenna Jamison

8. Uncle Humuna The Electric Generator/Dynamo - this was the fat guy from Running Man with Arnold Swartzengovernor, no? Dom Deluise maybe?

9. Mister CIA The Return of the Prodigal Son (Rembrandt) - Obviously, James Caveziel would have to be top of the list.

10. El Floppo The Seven Samurai - Can we get the kids from Jon and Kate commit adultury on live TV and pretend they still love each other?

11. thatguy Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle - I'm not sure.

12. wikkidpissah Goethe's Faust Part 1 - Is this going to be like History of the World where we get all psyched for part two, and then, nothing?

13. Tides of War The Empire State Building - John Holmes

14. BobbyLayne Michelangelo's The Last Judgment - Judge Judy in her first leading role.

15. Abrantes Rodin's The Gates of Hell - This is all about Barbara Streisand. Oprah makes a cameo, as does Rossie O'Donnell

16. DougB Strauss' Also Spake Tharathustra - I don't watch Bollywood stuff, sorry.

17. timschochet Republicanism - Are Redford, Garafalo and Michael Moore available?

18. Postradamus Magellan's Circumnavigation of the Earth - Hmmm. Story about a guy who gets in a boat and pretty much does nothing at all until the movie is over.... Tom Hanks already did that.

19. Rodg12 The Telescope - John Holmes will try to get to this set as well, but if not we'll have Peter North on standby

20. Krista4 Don Giovanni - Without question, Joe Pesci can pull this one off.

Not bad. I should move to Hollywood. They need fresh ideas.

Round Eleven

1. Fennis Manet's Olympia

2. Rodg12 The Human Circulatory System

3. Postradamus Camera

4. timschochet Hubble's Discovery of The Greater Universe

5. Doug B George C. Scott in Patton

6. Abrantes Monty Python's Flying Circus

7. BobbyLayne Othello

8. Tides of War Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of The Opera

9. wikkidpissah David Copperfield

10. thatguy The Scream

11. El Floppo Candide

12. Mister CIA Bob Beamon's Long Jump

13. Uncle Humuna 1984

14. Misfit Blondes The Crucible

15. Bob Lee Swagger Death Of A Salesman

16. Scott Norwood Space Station Mir

17. DC Thunder Calculus

18. Genedoc Robert DeNiro in Raging Bull

19. Tirnan The Assembly Line

20. Yankee23 Fan The Woodstock Festival

Some let down picks here. The human circulatory system? Really? We're drafting that as a discovery? "Look, I'm bleeding!" BOOM! Discovery. That's kind of a low standard, no? Hubble discovers the universe? He looked up. So, he looked up better then anyone else. What would be impressive is if he could find that place back in the clothes dryer where socks dissappear. That would be powerful right there. If Monty Python actually had a real flying circus that would be cool. Elephants in big frackin hot air balloons. Flying monkeys carrying giraffes. I'd pay to see that. Watch out for flying dung though, I guess.

Then Bobby drafts the game that tries to be like backgammon, but it isn't. It's the black sheep of the gaming family. There's chess, checkers, Backgammon, spin the bottle and way down the list is Othello. Wikkid drafts a magician whose so good he got a super model to marry his ugly butt. That is a trick that we need a Fox Behind the Magic special for. Someone drafts a year. Psst. I take 1. Ha, beat that. Someone else takes the space station that blows up in Armageddon thanks to Bruce Willis' crack team, and it's rounded out by a fricken hippy fest. We are losing site of the ball here people.

For Genedoc/Bonzai:

34.03 Strange Fruit - Billie Holiday (Song)

"Strange Fruit" is a song performed most famously by Billie Holiday. It condemned American racism, particularly the lynching of African Americans that had occurred chiefly in the South but also in all regions of the United States. Holiday's version of the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1978.[2] It was also included in the list of Songs of the Century, by the Recording Industry of America and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Time magazine awarded it the Song of the Century.
#### me.Since I have been doing advertising and marketing work for El Floppo and Yankee23fan, I might as well put this worthless write up to good use and help out Team Dominate.

Great pick, Bonzai.
