21.02 - The Golden Gate Bridge - Building/Structure
The Golden Gate Bridge was completed in 1937 and was the longest suspension bridge span in the world at that time, measuring 1.7 miles in length (including approaches). It was the first bridge ever to leap over the mouth of an ocean harbor. It was named one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
