Still too busy to catch up today. Usually, Saturdays in the office are dead and I can screw around online, but not today.Won't really be able to attempt to catch up until Monday a.m. ... maybe. I don't mind falling behind 12-14 picks, but if it gets to the middle of next week and I still can't get to these picks, I will have to consider dropping out.
Doug is gonna make it rain when he gets here.

:( Check in when you can. Abrantes, flysack is now gone, and I can't tell whether they were still on autoskip or not--can you?
Technically, flysack asked to be taken off autoskip, so I'll just leave it alone. No rush, apart from having a write-up ready for the past 15 hours or so. :kicksrock:

It's a shame that he was in the thread when ToW posted, but left without making the pick. :hophead:

Blame it on me :(

Putting aside the Jessie Owens scenes, Olympia is the world that Hitler and the Nazis wanted. It's the world of beautiful, physical Aryans. It is a deliberate contrast to the world of Fritz Lang's M, Munch's "The Scream", and Kafka's The Trial, all of which was despised by Germans. Those visions, pre-Hitler, were of a disjointed, disfigured world in which there is no order and no meaning: all is horror and chaos. Olympia gives us a world of order, permanence, beauty. The argument the Nazis are making in this film is stark and clear: which world do you really want to live in?

I also have to say that, as in so many of the Nazi celebrations of beauty, there is an odd homosexual element to Olympia. Half naked muscular men with great physiques stare at each other throughout the movie in mutual admiration. (I noticed this same phenomenon in the film 300.

No idea -- every time I come back to this thread, 5 or 6 pages have gone by ... and that's happened several times since Wednesday. Really lost at this point.

Quick Reply:

Presently in a cafe on metered net use. No pick ready, and since it's the weekend I'm not terribly concerned with it.

When I get home I'll make a pick if BobbyLayne hasn't already. I think he had something in mind though.

Please keep us off autoskip. Thank you.

I'm not in any hurry to finish this thing. But I don't get the rush, rush, rush mentality during the week switching to the sit on things mindset on the weekend. :unsubscribe:

Here is a fully nude directress as she appeared in the film - Probably not safe for work, but maybe you should judgeLeni Directs herself to "Take off your clothes and Dance!"

I guess flysack is not part of the desperate following.
Could someone PM me the current list? I've misplaced my copy.
Would probably be a lot faster to list who ISN'T in The Following™ . . .
Oh, I like The Following. Sounds vaguely sinister.
Why are you trademarking my work?
Bonzai and I have already decided to start a new iBand (all bass players): The Desperate Following of Krista (DFKs for those in the know)

Exactly  You go play golf or have a committment that uses 7 or 8 hours during weekdays, and you can miss two or 3 of your selections. Frankly, even though I can usually check in from time to time, it usually takes a good 10 or 15 minutes just to catch up.

You fail to check in on an entire weekend day, and maybe you have missed 3 picks. Today so far it has been mine alone.

I think the Deperate Following may lack certain elements of civility and common courtesy in this regard - When it is CONVIENENT for them that want things to roll along rapidly.

When its not, they want to take their ball and go home so no one else can play, as illustrated by " Since its the weekend, I'm not terribly concerned" type remarks

Maybe he can catch it off the deflection.

I will follow Krista

Follow Her wherever She may go,

And near Her, I always will be

For nothing can keep me away,

She is my destiny.

I will follow Krista,

Ever since She touched my heart I knew,

There'll never be too high a peak,

Or too withering a critique,

To keep me away, away from Her love.

I love Her, I love Her, I love Her,

And, in this draft,

I'll follow, I'll follow, I'll follow.

She'll always be my true love, my true love, my true love

from now until forever, forever, forever

I will follow Her,

Follow Her wherever She may go,

No documentary

Can show how much she's meant to me,

Can't keep me away, away from Her love...

I love Her

(Oh yes I love Her)

I'll follow

(I'm gonna follow)

True love

(She'll always be my true, true love)

Forever

(Now until forever)

I love Her, I love Her, I love Her,

Like Oliver,

I'll follow, I'll follow, I'll follow,

She'll always be my true love,

My true love, my true love,

From now until forever,

Forever, forever...

I dont mean to be a big creep,

But there is no web too wide to keep,

Keep me away, away from Her love

28.05 painting - grainstacks/haystacks - monet

Anborn can write it up if he wants to
you guys need to pick a painting. Not a series
no worries, I'll pick just one (unless norwood already has). not like it matters much. its like asking which million dollar check you want to cash.Edited to add the pick:

Haystacks at the End of Summer, Morning Effect, 1891. Oil on canvas.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haystacks_(Monet)
love this painting. missed that you picked it, nice

A. The weekday clock is because most people are at work, with net access. They tend to do other things during the weekend, like family stuff or go outside, etc. Hence the pick clock stops. It's not that hard to figure out.B. I have never rushed anyone to pick

C. I follow no one, desperately or not, unless it's my teammate (because the team is named after him)

D. That said, take your civility and shove it up your !@#$

Oops, did I forget to pick? I'll get around to it.

serious business up in here. :

disclaimer

please everyone, feel free to fly off the handle anytime anyone gives you a hard time or things dont go exactly the way you had planned. no one is actually pissed at you for not picking, or getting skipped, or for making rulings in the draft, some of us just get antsy, and theres a lot of different personalities here. FF drafts get this way...its just part of the deal, so please try to be cool calm collected, most of us here have no ill will toward anyone drafting. just do what you gotta do, everyone is following the rules. so its no problem. we have a long way to go...

FROM THE COMMISSIONER'S OFFICEMay 30, 2009

To: Wikkidpissah

Re: Your request (threat?) to quit if Flysack is not removed.

Dear sir,

As I will not be acting commissioner in a matter of just of few days, I feel unable to study this matter in such a way as to reach an informed decision. I recommend you defer this issue for a period of 48 hours and then raise it with the new commissioner, Mr. Rodg12. He can be reached by PM or on this thread.

Should you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Very truly yours,

timschochet

I've been gone for several hours, and I see we have just a bunch of Serious Business and no picks? :)

wikkid, loved the song. ;)
