***Official***GTA V thread... (1 Viewer)

Last night I hit two convenience stores and nabbed $750 and $630. There's money to be made at those places.
Yes, the 2nd register is key.
I reaped those by having the clerk empty the register, no shooting, no second register.
Ooh, how do you do that?
Go in armed, and hold down L2 to point your gun at the clerk. If you don't fire, he'll begin emptying the register.

What the hell are you supposed to do for the final airplane mission in flight school? I have no problem doing the loops, but then I they give me some stunt I'm supposed to pull off that involves being inverted (no problem) and doing a barrel roll (also no problem), but I keep failing this one particular stunt because I just don't know what they want me to do.

This seriously pisses me off because I want to move on to helicopters, but I can't until I beat the mystery mission.
You have to go halfway through the loop and then at the apex, rotate 180 degrees so that you're straightened out and flying normally.
To further elaborate on this... go halfway until the ground is where the sky would be and you're totally upside down... then just roll until you right yourself.
Yes. Watch the meter on the bottom right of the screen. It will indicate when you've hit the half way point. At that point, flip the plane so you are right side up.

Definately need to start focusing on mayhem and investing. I'm not that far into the story line:

For Franklin I just did the first road race and won the second time because the first time I took the final turn in the lead and hit a pole going probably 100 and died. That was both frustrating and cool - I'm too used to being indestructible in a car. Solid realism there.

For Michael I just did the first Facebook mission with the phone. That was funny as all get out. The entire mission, from the conversations at Facebook to the mission itself, just a solid all around job.

I've robbed one store - inadvertently. I had a star and was trying to get rid of cops so I figured I would try to hide in the store. As soon as I walked in Apu said that I was a wanted criminal and ran away with the register open. Easy Score.

I've been areested once and killed far too many times. Getting killed is better. Never let the cops arrest you. Just go down fighting. The hospital doesn't take your gun but the cops do.

Tried to help a "friend" side mission thing where this chick said her friend was being beaten by her boyfried. Yeah, that was a trap. Took a shotgun to the chest. Live and learn - don't be nice in this game.

Overall, this small amount of time - this game is infinitely better than GTA IV. It's not even close. Every single aspect of this game is better. In fact, for my timeline purposes, GTA IV is now the equivelent of Halloween 3. Yeah, it's there. But it doesn't count.

Finally, when I was driving for something and saw that I was on Grove Street, I had to explore the old neighborhood. I actually felt a sense of nostalgia and sadness that The Grove is all new and different and just not the same. Would have been awesome if they figured out a way to get your San Andreas guy in that neighborhood somehow. Maybe they do later on. That would be fun.

Great game. Worth the $60. And I never say that about any game.

:goodposting:

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw they had Grove Street and the surrounding area just about the same as it was in San Andreas, but I was sad when I saw the Ballers were controlling things and there wasn't a Grove Street Family member to be found.

Also wish San Fierro and Las Venturas were in the game somehow, but since they packed so much into Los Santos, I can see why they were left out.

:lmao:

Was finally able to steal the fighter jet from the military base last night. So much ### #### fun flying that thing around destroying everything in sight.
This was the most thrilling thing in the game for me... I took a chopper and jumped out and parachuted in. Took several tries but finally got in and took off and my heart was racing like Zenyatta!... got hit by a missile and my heart sunk for a sec, but I wasn't damaged enough to go down. Holy #### is that thing awesome... but I ran out of fuel pretty quick; crash and burn.

Wish you could stash any plane/copter that you land/park at the airfield but it doesn't look like they do :(
I was able to, it's awesome. Used a motorcycle to race in the military base and steal the fighter jet.. Flew around until all the stars went away, then landed at the airfield and parked it in the hanger. Now every night when I get tired of doing the real missions I fly into the city and go on a fighter jet rampage.
Were gonna need to know the location of this airfield.
If it's the airfield that's north of the lake that costs 150k it didn't work for me. I bought it and did the first smuggling mission out of it then went and jacked a fighter jet and parked it there but it wouldn't let me get back in... I could only get into the prop plane to start another smuggling mission. I think I have my jet jacking technique down pat though... finally get how to dodge the missiles.

Brady Marino's Airplane Chronicles.

Day: 19 September, 2013

Attempt 1: Operative Franklin tried to infiltrate airport from the sea. Vehicle was able to penetrate gate before forces on site began to surround Franklin. Despite his best efforts, Franklin and his vehicle went down in a hail of fire. According to his debrief, his next memory was walking out of the hospital and "Superman punching" some woman who was just trying to have a smoke outside the entrance.

Attempt 2: Operative Franklin went in through the main entrance at the airport. Resistance was less this time as Franklin was able to find a small US Air airplane to commandeer. After having some trouble with steering and after cops began to swarm him, Franklin was able to get to the runway and take off with a small head start. Despite helicopters nearby, Franklin was able to gain altitude and lose the helicopters chasing him. Despite being in the clear, his left engine failed and his right was on its last legs from the gunshooting. Franklin, with some difficulty, was able to land safely on the highway leading north out of Los Santos. He then proceeded to try to pick a fight with a random man and was stabbed to death.

Attempt 3: Operative Franklin decided to attempt to infiltrate the military base. Troopers were immediately on him, but he was able to evade them. By the time more troops showed up and started firing, Franklin was able to get a helicopter off the ground. When he attempted to flee the base, a jet fighter shot a missile at him. Franklin, along with the helicopter, exploded into hundreds of indistinguishable pieces. Franklin was pieced together at a nearby hospital. Upon leaving the hospital, he "Superman punched" a doctor to make sure he still was capable of feeling.

This game eliminates the dating and relationship building crap from 4, right? If I don't want to deal with taking chicks out or banging them, I don't have to, correct? I can just be a murdering son of a #####?

Yup. And if you want to bang a chick, you just have to go to the strip club once. After that, she's a booty call in your phone.

So I can't get out of story mode right away? I have to go through a bunch of stuff before I can just run around?
not really a bunch, there was that bank scene and a few very short stories that are mainly there to illustrate the fundamental gameplay elements like driving.

Seems really easy to take the small AirUS jet, snagged it twice already. I've been trying to land it at the air force base so I could quickly steal a fighter jet, but crashed twice. Other than that, just did a few missions and trying to build skills/endurance/cash/weapons armor etc. Haven't even unlocked Trevor yet. Tonight was my first chance to play since last Tuesday.

Was just doing an early mission with Lamar and a 3rd dude from the hood. Just for giggles I carjacked a one door convertible to see what the 3rd dude would do. As soon as I yank the other driver out the 3rd hoodlem yells "nah, aint gonna fit in there". The driver who I just tossed out of car gets up and throws me out of the car now, Lamar and the other dude simultaneously pull out their weapons and unload bullets into the dude yelling "snitch!"

I love this game so much and I barely have played the missions yet.

Yeah stealing planes from the main airport isn't tough. Landing it at the military base and switching to a fighter jet may be hard though. As soon as you enter their air space the alarms go off. I've found the best bet is to use a motorcycle to break in as fast as possible, drive straight to the hangar, and hope a tank isn't in the vicinity. Luckily those jets can get off the ground so quick that you can pretty much be in the air as soon as you leave the hangar.

I like to parachute in from the river side... can land right on the jet and pop open the hatch.

The ifruit app is pretty lame, eh. Anyone find that the training is useful with Chop in-game?

I downloaded it, finally got it to work, played with it once, and never looked at it again.

I never bother with Chop in the game. He's too much of a liability when rampaging around. Sure he might take out a guy shooting me from my blind spot, but I have no time to wait for a dog when I jack a car and need to scram.

Gotcha. Total newb. Made it through the bank scene, but quit after failing the car chase a couple times. I just need to give it a little more time. Thought I might be going through stuff I didn't have to.
I'm pretty much like you. I skipped several missions after multiple failures at the beginning. Eventually I started passing missions, although I still have to do several tries of many missions. I'm still enjoying the game even though I'm worried I'll hit other choke points.

Did the jewelry heist last night. This game is so awesome.

Haven't even found the airport still! Did find the military base though.

Same. I should have paid for a better shooter that knows how to ride a bike!

Did you go guns blazing or stealth?
I went stealth. I think you can replay missions via the menu so I'll redo the other way later after I finish everything.

I went cheap on the shooter and paid up for the others. The shooter crashed, but I somehow got his bag of cash so it didn't cost me anything anyways.

Yeah, I'm replaying this later I think. Didn't know you could do that.

I'm not sure how I did. But Franklin said he grabbed it. Maybe I ran my dirt bike over it?

Flying planes in this game never gets old. So awesome.

I'm literally pissed at the amount of work I have to do, because it's cutting into my GTA time. Could be an issue?

Anyone else having trouble making turns when taxiing planes stolen from the airport? I'm only able to go forward or reverse in a straight line. Also how do I obtain a hangar so I can save a plane?

You can buy one with Trevor after the mission where you land the plane. Might be his 3rd mission...can't remember.

Has anyone tried the jewelry heist the "loud" way?

Also, has anyone used the cheaper hacker? I had a lot of time to spare in the store.
I used the guy from Facebook. I didn't have much time but pulled in around 4MM.

Same here except I missed out on that guy's money. I won't go cheap next time.

Amazon's deal of the day is Saints Row IV for $38, fyi. I'm going to hold off, but I think some where talking about grabbing this one.

This reminds me, that one Stranger side mission is, I believe, a shot at SR4. The one where Michael smokes with the guy in the park. (I don't want to give away spoilers, that's why I'm being vague.)

I've never played SR, but that makes sense. That little mission was so odd to me that I had no idea what it was and why it was included.

send in the clowns

Not sure if I missed this, but has anyone set up a FBG crew for online play?

Online sound really interesting and it would be great to roll through with some FBG buddies.

I found a suitcase/box of money and some other stuff swimming around in the ocean on the left side of the city. There are sunken ships out there and there appear to be goodies. The boat I found had a case of 9 grand I think and an assault rifle.

There are also crashed aircraft. Apparently lots of loot on the sea floor. If only I could swim properly. I think I've drowned poor Franklin 2 or 3 times.

Good trick - which actually helps with the above and I meant to post it but had to do a meeting....

If you see your guy drowning, quickly switch to another character - no matter where he is on the map. When you switch back to the guy that was drowning he will still be under water, but have full health. Also, it appears that some of the stuff on the sea floor reappears. The money and the gun I picked up a couple times in the same game while I was searching around and almost drowning. I would switch to the other guy then switch right back and keep searching. Stuff down there seems to respawn. I don't know if it is unlimited but it's worth it if you need stuff.

It is unlimited. I saw a thing that says to position one guy at one underwater treasure and another at a different one. Then just switch back and forth while each guy racks up the coin. You can do it for as long as you wish. I think they said that they were able to get a million dollars an hour.
