I don't judge politicians by their words.  I judge them by their actions. Her actions are why a good portion of the left will never be on board with her.

DNC bylaws just call for a pledge to "in all good conscience reflect the sentiments of those that elected them".  I'm fairly certain there's no legal repercussions for violating that pledge.

This would be the smart play against a normal opponent like Rubio. Against Trump? I'm not sure.

As I see it, if the election becomes a typical Republicans vs. Democrats battle, then Hillary wins the Sanders voters easily in the end. If Trump keeps peddling his racist nonsense, then Hillary wins the Sanders vote easily in the end.

But on the other hand- if Trump can successfully turn this into a debate about free trade and globalism, then he has a real shot at those Sanders voters, and Hillary needs to do something to get them on board. That's where Warren can be more effective than anyone else.

Just to be clear, if someone says some thing that does not make that thing a "fact."

You don't know who she has voted for. Policy wise the Clinton name also goes with DOMA, DADT & RFRA.

Yeah she supports progressives but she and her husband also founded the DLC which almost killed progressivism.

And sure yeah she furthers progressive causes, she also furthers her own cause.

To deny an alias because you "have different writing styles" is a level of denial that someone with nothing to hide wouldn't ever make. It has been already confirmed that Tone and I are the same person? Confirmed by who?

If you or anyone here think that I am using an alias for the Tone moniker, please use the report button and have the mods look into it so that they can take appropriate action.

And FYI, writing styles have been proven to be distinctive enough to the point that computers can take writing samples from several people, compare them to a passage of unknown authorship and identify who wrote it with someone like a 80-90% accuracy. That is why people who use aliases here are quickly identified (Peens and johnjohn probably being the best examples).

This is a false statement. 

The Democrats were losing election after election. Walter Mondale and Michael Dukakis were too liberal for the swing voters. The Clintons correctly realized that voters cared about the economy, and that a centrist approach would be more effective. They actually saved progressivism. (Much in the same way that FDR's New Deal saved capitalism.)

Her votes, support for other progressives, and her work over the last 30-40 years furthering progressive causes are "actions", regardless of whether they fit your narrative.

Then there are dozens of sources we rely on every day that are completely wrong.  Just about anywhere I go to read about the difference between pledged delegates and superdelegates says the difference is superdelegates can vote for whoever they want and the pledged delegates are to abide by the vote of the people.

I'm not sure there are any people here in the FFA that are obsessed enough with the alias shtick (other than you and SIDA) to take the time and report anyone for using them.

Truthfully? Sanders fans won't want to hear this but-

for the same reason that he would have fared worse against Trump, despite the current polling. Because Republicans will label him a socialist. The general public won't go for it. In the end he'd be a detriment.

Hell, even electors for the Electoral College can cast a vote for someone other than who won their state.  So called Faithless Electors happen rarely, but they do happen.  And while some states have criminal penalties on the books, no one has ever been prosecuted for violating those laws.

- The DLC was dedicated to defeating the liberal wing of its own party, hellyeah that was the point, focus, raison d'etre for the DLC.

However I also don't think he wants to be around for the shenanigans and they don't want him around for them either.

i was just going to post this before your edit!   Bernie (IMO) wants no part of "Wall Street SE" and the endless scandals that always seem to follow the Clintons..

 
I suspect Sanders will make nice and suspend his campaign.  I suspect he will continue to express very strong sentiments against Trump.  But, I don't believe he's going to give Hillary much at all, not unless she cedes major concessions to the platform, which won't happen.

in sum, I don't think they will have a contentious relationship so much as they probably won't have much of one at all.

 
I don't think squistion and tone1oc are the same guy.  Although I'm not a fan of squistion's Twitter or put-your-money-where-your-mouth-is schtick, he's significantly more coherent and intelligent than tone1oc.

No problem. Not your fault Willie and Mr Ham assume that if more than one person disagrees with their crackpot point of view, they have to be an alias.

Yeah, we have had some contentious discussions in the shark pool, but according to Willie that was just a clever ruse to make people believe we (or is it me?) are not the same person. I wouldn't go to that much trouble for an alias, but considering the level of delusion and paranoia these characters possess, it certainly doesn't surprise me they make that accusation.

Hillary is already a moderate.  She has room to put a progressive on her ticket.  Bernie makes more sense than any of the other progressives floated around and he's already proven to be well spoken and a good campaigner.  For whichever votes you'd lose, you'd gain votes that would have stayed home and you'll immediately unify the party.

See the problem with the Shark Pool is that I only really find my footing as a contrarian to popular opinions of the SP.  I don't find it interesting to talk about how great someone is if everyone thinks he's great, and visa versa.  It's not that I'm being a contrarian for contrarian sake, I do believe my opinions/takes and find it fun to take on the masses in there.  I've really been working on toning it down, but I feel the quality of posters in the SP has gone to crap.  Perhaps I'm part of that crap?   I apologize if I took things too far with you, but since we are now kind of related I think we should be cool with one another  :D

Anyways, for those that are clearly interested in who I am, and where I came from.   It's the Shark Pool, I play a lot of fantasy football and I never ventured into this cesspool until recently.   Unfortunately for you all the other general discussion board I frequent has become dead during my peak hours which is later than most being out in Hawaii.

Thanks you all for the "warm" welcome and I'm excited to be an active FFA poster. 

ETA: I am leaving for Europe tonight for 3 weeks, so my activity might be minimal.  Or it could be a ruse.

The real question for the veep decision is 'Who is the best person to face Donald in the general?,' since Hillary is likely be indisposed by other more important matters than running for president this fall.

Republicans are going to label Warren a socialist as well.  Warren would also have to defend her lying about her ethnicity (right or wrong it's not my intention to debate this), and could conceivably make that ticket actually seem more dishonest than it already is.  Just one opinion, but I don't think Warren makes any sense for VP.

They could label any Democrat a socialist, but it wouldn't stick with Warren as she has never run for office as a socialist or even identified herself as one. Scott Brown tried to make a campaign issue of the her ethnicity but it didn't help him beat Warren and if it were raised again, I doubt it would be a deal breaker in voting for a Clinton/Warren ticket among independents or undecided voters.

But the whole discussion is moot. Warren did not oppose Hillary in the primaries because she does not (according to friends) have the stomach to run a national campaign. The VP slot would be less demanding than the top of the ticket but she is really not up to that undertaking either.
