He's rubbed me the wrong way ever since he got all uppity over Colbert announcing he was running for president in 2008.  You have to wonder if Luke Russert leaving had anything to do what nbc news has become.  How could he stay and at the same time be true to his father's legacy? Really troubling.

Hannity hosts an opinion show and Todd is the news director of NBC News.  There is a major difference and it would violate many journalistic tenets to be coordinating in this manner

Yeah, you have to wonder since Luke Russert is still with NBC News:

Had missed the news about Russert among the RNC Convention coverage (sorry Willie).

So basically whatever points she gained from Trump nominating Pence she lost most of them with her pick of Kaine.

I'm wondering what is a "horrible decision" for you, and how it's possible that Trump hasn't made it yet. 

 
I do not love Hillary, and I may abstain from voting this year. But maybe she selected Kaine because she thought he would be the best person for the job and didn't select someone based on what votes they could secure? :shrug:

He did come out in favor of TPP just hours before the announcement, so its likely that he lines up with her views.

 
I don't see Kaine bringing in any independents, but could see him pushing away progressives.

Kaine, by contrast, is setting himself up as a figure willing to do battle with the progressive wing of the party. He has championed the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal that both Sanders and Warren oppose, and he is now publicly siding with bank deregulation advocates at the height of Clinton’s veepstakes.

I interpret this as taking a role in coordinating messaging. 

If Rachel Maddow, Lawrence odonnell, oreilly or hannity this did, it's one thing.  

I can't fathom a journalistic standard where this is above board

As far as the commonly reported final 3 contenders, I was most favorable to Perez personally. Yes I understand "officially" he is pro tpp, but he's been wishy washy on the topic. For full disclosure, I was a Bernie guy before my current deliberations voting Johnson or an F the system Trump vote.

I was really hoping Hill would try to appeal to the Bernie audience, and she would have at least made me think with another candidate. I don't see that with this selection. I know their ideas were a bit contrasting in areas (H and Bern), but I think there's a lot of votes to the far left that she just left on the table, or in some individual cases, risks alienating altogether.

Yep.  I was just pondering this political calculation.  I'm sure she doesn't care how many progressive votes she loses in deep red states, and she's probably assuming enough of them will fall in line in strong blue states.  But the battle ground states?  I am guessing she thinks, with this move, the number of progressives she loses is less than the number of anti-Trump Republicans she can pick up.  If so, I think she's under-estimating how bad GOPers really hate her.  They'll go for Johnson before they give her their vote, imo.
