As for two-TE sets, why would you make a determination on how they are going to play with Dreessen, when he did not dress for week 1? There was no replacement for him on the roster. Tamme is not a blocking TE, and he seems to be limited to Special Teams right now.

Cameron and Thomas are causing my mind to unravel. Own both and it's almost impossible to predict which one will blow up on any given week unless there's an obvious bad matchup. Benched Thomas this week and have been made to pay for it.

At this point which TE has more value ? Who would people rather have for the seasonThomas or Cameron ?

With Thomas I think you just have to play him each week and accept he'll have some duds, but they'll be mixed in with some monster games

I think this is premature. Dallas got burned by Gates last week, so I think this should be a rebound game.

Also, I don't think Gronk plays until week 6.

its a simple decision....go with the better QB and better O (with the team that has the worse D). That is the Broncos. HTH.

can you start one at flex? If not just trade one. Whoever someone else will accept no big deal since its a coinflip

Having the same problem but have decided to start both. I almost traded one to not have the problem but figure they are still better on my bench blowing up than going against them.

Having the same problem but have decided to start both. I almost traded one to not have the problem but figure they are still better on my bench blowing up than going against them.

Keeping both will really help you in week 9 and 10, too.

 
So in shallow redraft leagues what would you do if you had Thomas and Gronk?

It's ppr and I also have decker so I've been rolling out decker and Thomas every wk... In considering trading Gronk but not sure if I'm just maybe a tad too excited about Thomas at the moment

He is the #2 TE and 9th OVERALL in points from RB/WR/TE in my standard scoring league after week 5....easily the WW pickup of the year thus far!

He has more points than:

Cruz, Djax, Cameron, Demaryius, D. Murray, Foster, Bush, Julio, Marshall, Calvin, Jordy, AJ Green, Cobb...

Ridiculous!

Exact situation here. I'm unsure whether to sell high on Thomas and roll with Gronk, or sell on Gronk's potential and name value and roll with Thomas. Both would likely fetch about the same bounty on the market, and maybe even Thomas more at this point.

I have a gut feeling Gronk will not be the same player upon his return, and on top of that won't have the pieces around him conducive to the type of play we've seen in the past. Likely selling him and rolling with Thomas, FWIW.

 
Thanks for replies guys. Unfortunately only have 1 TE starting space. Going to keep Thomas and maybe see if I can wangle AJ Green from the owner who has contacted me about Cameron and Thomas. He also has the Chiefs D which interests me as a rent a defence guy up until now.

I'm in the same boat. Dying at QB spot and Manning/Rivers owner offered Rivers/Gronk which I scoffed and countered Thomas/Rivers which was dead-even given FBG value chart, but funny now I'm thinking exact opposite that I'd rather trade Gronk and keep Thomas. Funny the difference a week makes.

I'm a big Pats fan too and I agree even if Gronk comes back this week it could be 2-3 weeks before he is GRONK again. Not sure I want to weather that stretch. I'll be shopping Gronk and rolling with Thomas.

Twice this year I've attempted to trade Julius Thomas + 2014 1st (early mid) for Gronkowski, IMO its an awful trade for Gronk, if I had Gronk I wouldn't trade him for that but given their respective situations I felt it was a fair start.

In your guys opinions what is JT current dynasty value (ppr or weighted ppr, mandatory TE).

Coming from a Gronk owner - I would probably take that offer. But at the same time I have held on to him for so long and we are all praying this will be the week. That said I traded for Julius giving up Roddy White last week. (From the Jimmy Graham owner) - I look good right now. But if Gronk starts this week - I am going to insert him in my lineup!

Dynasty-wise, this guy is an extreme hold. You don't know how long Manning is going to play, but he's definitely going to produce when on the field with Manning. Literally, unless someone was offering me a Stud Running Back or Receiver; I'm not moving him.

When Peyton retires, you've got a young Brock Osweiler to take the reigns. Don't know how good or bad he is, but if he picks up anything from Peyton he'll know how to feature Orange Julius.

I don't think you'll get a fair market value from anybody. There's not much room to upgrade at the TE position. Unless you have Cameron, Graham, or Gronk. There's no way I'd trade this guy. I keep getting TERRIBLE offers for him. He's been the winning margin in more than a few of my games.

You want this guy. Unless someone is going to cough up a young stud, be happy with who you have at your TE position.

CJ Spiller.

Ray Rice.

Giovanni Bernard + Change.

Darren McFadden + Draft Picks.

RG3.

Brandon Marshall.

Doug Martin.

I know that price might sound crazy, but for the way this guy is playing. The only way he's going to be out of my starting lineup is if you give me someone who I can plug in that might give me comparable production. It's not like Manning is suddenly going to stop being efficient.

He's in the best Offense in the league, hand down. And he's a RZ option in said offense.

Anyone concerned this was a product of the Cowboys awful defense against the TE

I think JT is the real deal, but I also know Peyton will pick the defenses weakness on any given week. Are people starting him regardless of match-ups?

I am lucky enough to have Graham and a TE flex so maybe Im over thinking this

You're overthinking it - unless you are not.

Its not really about his skill level right now - its simply taking advantage of the situation. He's going to get 5-6 targets a game, because Manning puts it up so often - only a small handful of TEs will see that many targets.

Having said that, this week feels like a letdown waiting to happen, with a game that is out-of-hand - if you have a good alternative at the flex spot, I might consider it this week. I wouldn't bench him at TE except for Graham, Gronk (if healthy), and Cameron.

I love JT, but there is no way in hell you get any of those deals. Might as well just say he is untradeable.

Exact same problem here. Plus I've got Julio, Jordy, and Amendola. Julio will start for sure, otherwise it will be tough to pick from Jordy, Amendola, Cameron, and Thomas each for 3 spots.

If you can get Gronk for Julius Thomas in a dynasty league, you take it and run like you stole something. Which you did.

I'm pretty sure I'll get blasted in this thread, but Thomas is a hold / enjoy the ride in redraft and a screaming sell in dynasty if people are valuing him at the Gronk level. To me he looks like a good player on a ridiculous hot streak in the best imaginable situation. Without Manning in a year or two he might still be good, or he might suck FF-wise. If I can get a nucleus RB / WR and have another reasonable TE option I'll cash out now.

No, I'm not a JT hater -- I drafted the guy / grabbed him off waivers in every league. But someone's got to be slightly realistic in here.

I'm on the same page with all of this, might need another game out of JT and maybe a bad start from Gronk to convince anyone though.

 
Just out of curiosity, how many JT dynasty owners are trying to swap him for Gronk? I don't trust his long-term health and right now, today, rank him no higher than 4th.
