This week's ranking of JT from FBG is crazy low ... Olsen, Gates, Miller are a few ranked ahead of him? Really?
This makes no sense. With no welker he should have an even bigger game than normal.
I don't know, I see Tamme sliding in pretty easily and eating up Welker's snaps and targets. Maybe there are an extra 3-4 targets to go around on offense with Welker out, which would mean maybe 1 extra target for Julius. Not going to make a huge difference, either way.

On the other hand, San Diego's defense is terribad, and there's no way I'd bench any Broncos against them.
I was thinking Decker would get more of the targets ... Wasn't Tamme's role mostly for blocking?
Not really. Dreessen and Green are the blocking TEs. Tamme replaced Welker in the slot after Welker got hurt.

My opponent has JT and Tamme sits on the wire. We both are out of FAAB, and I'm sure we will both be on at the same time when free waivers starts going after Tamme.

Tamme is strictly a pass catching TE.

I can't believe I'm debating starting both JT and Tamme this week.
If it makes it any easier for you, Tamme played pretty much every snap after Welker got hurt, spent most of them lining up as the slot WR, and for the season is averaging the same number of snaps per target as Welker (about 1 target every 7 snaps played).

I wouldn't feel suuuuuuper-confident in it, but there's a lot of reason to like Tamme against San Diego this week, not the least of which being that there will be a LOT of fantasy points to go around. Denver receivers are a bit like a roulette wheel in that you never know which will go off at any given time, but it's a pretty generous roulette wheel that gives a lot of spins.

the opposite of this.

The good news is, if Julius Thomas owners survive this week, he hasn't had more than 1 game straight without a TD this season. Chances of him having a big game next week are very big.

Going into this weeks matchup with 26 points from Allen and Julius. Man I need the rest of my roster to go off.

the entire bronco Offense just wet the bed. But really they werent even on the field the 2nd & 3rd quarter
Broncos D couldn't stop Mathews, and when Peyton finally did get the ball, he looked tentative. Always patting the ball and jogging in place. You could tell he didn't like people around his feet, like he has a phobia or something. Some of the throws he did make, like the interception, he was in a crowded pocket and little or no room to extend his elbow, and he get his arm grazed on follow thru. The completion to Decker could have easily been picked if Decker wasn't wide open. It felt surreal to watch Peyton turn into a checkdown charlie in the second half, no longer taking shots. The scheme Pagano used seemed to confuse Peyton. How's that for turning the tables on "the best Qb of our generation" as NFLN claimed last night. Broncos outcoached and outplayed in all 3 phases of the game. San Diego looked like they were playing for something, and Denver had the look of a team already assured their bye week seed.

That run defense will probably be the demise of the broncos.

Peyton just needed to get it to DeMAryious more last night, put the ball up and let him make some plays.

Julius had 0 catches in the 2nd half I think.

This is what puzzled me. Julius having no impact in the second half concerns me if I make it to the championship

its like Peyton only looked to Caldwell and the backs in the 2nd half.

If it's any consolation, I doubt Houston has the personnel or the coaching to replicate Pagano's gameplan. Got to throw out last night as an anomoly and keep plugging in your studs that got you this far.

They had the ball so little you can't take away anything from this. Julius had looks in the 2nd half. He was the target on Peyton's INT. When no Bronco receiver had even 50 yards (Julius had the most) this was a total team meltdown. Bench him at your own risk.

Has only been over 50yds once since week 5, and most of that was on one catch. I'll take my chances.

lmfao hes a TD machine. Thats his value

while I have Thomas ranked above Ertz lets not forget that Houston has been Charles Barkley "turrible" lately... A s-t-r-u-g-g-l-i-n-g Colts team whooped the Texans last wk so bad that Luck literally threw only a handful of passes in the second half... You think that when the Broncs crush the Texans early that they won't use ball and moreno to shorten the game? That's my fear in this matchup... I think Peyton will go for the record this wk but once he has that in the bag (3 TDs) I think they will "rest" him a little by running a lot more. Hopefully Julius gets at least one of those first 3 TDs but Im not seeing a possible shootout...

In Philly on the other hand I can at least see a scenario where the Bears and Eagles get involved in a classic shootout and I don't think a combined 70+ pts is unreasonable in that game... Primetime on Sunday night and I think the primetime players will show up. Chicago has been historically in the past not great against the TEs because of their cover 2 scheme but I have no idea if that still holds true this yr... (yeah I know I can look it up but Im too lazy)

Bottom line is this... I believe in Julius Thomas more than Ertz but I can see a scenario where Ertz ends up being the better play. Im gonna stick with what got me here and go with Julius but I don't bemoan anyone for doing what they feel gives THEM the best chance to win.

Of coarse there is a possibility of this happening but also consider this, when the Broncos go up a ton, is it crazy to think Fox starts to play the backups to rest and secure players like JT from getting injured? Doesn't seen to crazy to me to think this way. This is coming from a JT owner so I do have a dog in this fight.

I have Ertz and Thomas and while Im still leaning Thomas I'm not shutting the door on a last minute switch... How pissy is Manning gonna be with how the team preformed last wk? I think he probably comes out firing to try and get the record THIS wk... then maybe he shuts it down after that in the second half... I trust Manning & Thomas more than I trust Foles and Ertz but I also trust Chicago's offense to put up a fight and keep the game competitive and Im not sure Houston can do that so that's my dilemma...

There is also the thought of "what if I sit Thomas and he blows up?" I hate being wrong but If Im gonna be wrong I'd rather be wrong with Thomas in my lineup and Ertz on the bench.

***Even as I read what I just wrote I find myself coming closer to pulling the Ertz trigger***

hmmmm... good problem to have I guess but geez I would love some clarity (takes a drink)

Really think the broncos score like 40 to 50 points this week and manning gets 4-5 tds. Thomas should get 1-2 of them. They have had a long time to think about that bad loss last Thursday and will come out firing

some of my previous comments in this thread have been shtick, but this is not. I think JT will be at worst the #3 receiver on this team, ahead of Welker. In camp I saw them working lots of 2 TE sets, and saw it again in Thursdays game. The only drive they had any success on was running out of a 2 TE set.

I've been pretty adamant all pre-season that Fox wants to pass to get a lead and then run the ball to seal the win. IMO, Fox places blame on the Baltimore loss on not being able to secure a first down at the end of the game to close it out when they had a lead...so, they strengthened the OL by signing Vasquez and then got younger by drafting a RB early. That being said - it's easier to run the ball out of a 2TE set. So - 1 RB, 2 TE means that for large stretches of the game, there will only be 2 WR's on the field. Welker is the smallest WR and so he will be the one on the sideline. By contrast, JT will be on the field the whole game.

I understand Welkers ability to get open is pretty significant. However, JT will be a dynamic playmaker on the cusp of a breakout season. He's a huge target with great hands, just now understanding the nuances of the game. He will be involved. I'm thinking JT will catch around 60 balls this year, maybe 700-750 yards and a few TD's.
guys, I was off on this prediction. When all receivers were healthy, JT was clearly the #4 guy in the pecking order, behind DT, ED, and WW. The Broncos did not run the 2TE sets that I was anticipating (that may have had to do with the early-season health issues with Tamme and Dreessen). Further, there has not been the commitment to the running game that I was expecting.

I apologize to anyone out there that drafted JT too early or WW too late on the basis of my advice. My bad.

Not sure why you're apologizing. In my league JT is less than 9 points behind Welker. I'm sure it's similar in other leagues. That's not counting this weeks points, so he'll probably be tied or ahead of Welker.

Either way, that's pretty much a 3rd option on the team, as far as Fantasy Points goes. Consider also that JT missed 2 games earlier. Welker's only missed one.

JT was/is the 3rd guy on the team for Fantasy points (when talking the receiving corps). You were right.

If it was, I totally missed it.

Oops.

That TD was awesome. Put Peyton at 400, so with the bonus he gets, that play got me 13.75. 1 pt per 20 rec yds, 0.5 PPR and 1 pt per 50 pass yds. I love him.
