***OFFICIAL***Lord of the Rings Online Thread (2 Viewers)

Question: During this Beta period are you stuck in the area you started in? I go to the gates to exit Archet and the guards say it's too dangerous to leave.

 
Minstrel is at lvl 13 now.. Should easily hit 15 sometime tomorrow.. Then onto the Guardian.. OR maybe I'll just start carfting some food up.. :rolleyes:

 
Gator - My son was online today when my character joined the guild. So if you are wondering why I sounded like a 10 year old, that's why. :thumbup:

Another question: Can you create more than one character per server? If so, can both characters be online at the same time? I played Star Wars Galaxies for 2 years and I had 7 characters on the same server :2cents: but each cost a separate monthly subscription.

You can have, I believe 5 Characters per server. But short of paying for a 2nd account only one can be logged in at a time.
 
Level 11. The quests are getting damn hard to solo at this point, but it seems that the quests are categorized as solo, raids, fellowships, etc. We really need to group up together on teamspeak and play.

 
I'll see all you guys on April 6th. Got the BEta all downloaded, installed and patched, and I have my account all set. I just don't plan to pre-order a game I have no idea I'll ever play just so I can get in a Beta one week early.

Yeah, I figure it's $5, in fact, if you pre-order online you don't even pay that as long as you cancel before the ship date.

Maybe we should start planning dates to get together. This week, any time after 5 PM central is acceptable, but starting next week on I can really only do friday or saturday nights because of a new work schedule.

You can construe it however you like. :shrug: But those raid and fellowship quests aren't gonna solve themselves.
 
Give me a couple of days to get to level 10 or so and I would be willing to group up. Heck, tomorrow is slow at work. I might be to level 11-12 by tomorrow. :banned: :lmao:

BTW - What is the level cap?

Lvl 15 during the beta, 50 when it releases.
 
I have two beta accounts a lvl 40 Guardian and a lvl 40 Minstrel.

Havent played in months. Anyone want to use 'em? Maybe own 'em?

Of the two servers, they are NOT on brandywine, they are on the other whatever its name is.

If you are wondering - The game is good. But not hardcore enough for me as an mmorpg.

Earacorn - Human Hunter

DiaShan - Human Captain

Humdinger - Dwarf Guardian

Nynaeve - Elf Minstrel

Draygo - Hobbit Burglar

 
Is there any "team" advantage to having more than one toon on a server? Or is it just to try out different races/classes?

BTW - I am playing casually and am Level 8 now. There are the group quests that I will need help on though. I will reach out to you guys sometime soon.

You do know neither of those two Characters are around any more.. right :unusre:They did a complete wipe of all Characters that were created in Closed Beta before opening the servers for Open Beta.

I read some stuff on their TOS. I think Earacorn and Legolamb and Hamwise will be deleted prior to the release.

Kinda ticked that we would lose the characters, so I deleted a couple and created a human champion named Garyth and an elven hunter named Talanthalas, yes, from Dragonlance stuff.

 
OK, they will not delete the characters - you just need to have them renamed. You hit ESC in game, select Help and report yourself for a naming violation and ask to be renamed. I am in that process.

If those are names directly from Dragonlance, they may make you change those too:Character names in The Lord of the Rings Online should reflect the adventurous and heroic spirit of The Lord of the Rings. When selecting a character name, please be aware of the type of character you are creating, be it a Human, Elf, Dwarf, or Hobbit. Each race has its own naming conventions and it is encouraged that you select a name befitting the race and spirit of your character. The following are examples of character names and guild names that are NOT appropriate for The Lord of the Rings Online and is also applied to kinship and organization names. Some names that do not fall within one of the examples below may still be inappropriate. The Lord of the Rings Online Support has final say over what constitutes a violation of the character naming policy.

Okay - I played for some hours over the weekend and I am at Level 9. Thanks to the guys that worked with me to complete the quest last night; that was cool of you.

I have a couple more questions.

1. Where can I get potions/drinks for my health bar?

2. How important is armor really? I played SWG and you could have fun in combat (at least early in the game) without armor on. Is this the case for this game too?

:thumbdown: I remember once in DAoC where someone told me the Mods may ask me to rename my "Snogger" Character.

I had no idea what he meant..

He went on to explain what some in the UK took "snogging" to mean :shrug:

I explained Snogger meant Half-Snake, Half-Frog to me and my friends..

But that got a even bigger :o when you add it to the UK meaning. ;)

Luckily I have carried the name through all the MMO's(WWII Online, DAoC, SWG, EQ2, Guild Wars and Now LoTR) and hopefully they won't be sticks in the mud here.. :wub:

 
Just checked World of Warcraft and they allowed all three of my names: Nynaeve, Diashan, and Birgitte

So I'm gonna go with that and hope for the best.

I am willing to bet you are fine. They will also not delete them if they have a problem - just have you rename them. I think Talanthalas will be fine, too, since that is the elven for Tanis, one of the lead characters. GIlthanas is what I wanted, but was taken. :wall:

Don't play a female character. It's creepy.I think you'd be okay with Birgitte and Daishan, Nynaeve was definitely a major character though.

The good stuff(that works while in combat) has to be bought from Scholars. You can however buy some from the healer.. Not sure all towns have one but I'm pretty sure Thonin's gate had one. Also, try the Cooks/suppliers in the Crafting areas. They will sell some food.
 
Anyone else doing some crafting? I am working on the woodsman stuff - wood, skinning/hides, etc.

I am maxed as an apprentice for the skinning, but need a lot of rohan wood to get going. Anyone have a good idea where to find stores of that?

 
Oh yeah, I'm a journeyman woodsman almost mastered apprentice with the 400 points. I think we should really work together oint he crafting. It seem all professions are equally rewarding and most rely on others to really make anything useful. Only a few of the professions can take raw materials found in the world and make end items.
