The Red ran 7 D men.   Every player over 10 minutes.   Burbrasky only 13:52, 2G, +3.  They were saving him for Game 7.

I'm going to the Metallica concert with my woman on Wednesday.  I don't even really like Metallica, hope they have the game on in the club level.

Pens played last night like they did at the end of the Dan Byslma era. Came out like it was a preseason game. I was looking for disco Dan on the bench.

The Caps win has lead me to think that anything is possible and I'm now thinking about watching the Ducks Game 7 Wednesday.  If the Caps lose, probably won't watch it. Would love to see a Caps-Ducks finals so I can laugh at Boudreau more.

They didn't give up, they got their butts whooped.  Somehow they have to rebound cause they were seriously outplayed.
There was absolutely a major lack of effort though as well -- Caps were immediately on every single loose puck, winning every battle along the boards. Pens were not only out-executed, they were out-hustled. Badly, on both counts. Their performance was disgraceful. Washington clearly wanted the last two games more than did Pittsburgh.

I'm going in August with family. I don't really like them anymore either. Feigning enthusiasm. At least the playoffs aren't on in August.

Take it to the Metallica thread guy.

Their new album is awesome IMO.

Did you hear Sinister Rouge by Bad Religion in Pitt the other day

Heh. First and last. No, I missed the BR song. I used to talk about face-off music here. Nobody -- I mean, nobody -- dug that.

NV made a great point about Ottawa and Collective Soul, though. They deserve to lose just for that alone.

Rooting for you guys tonight.

Calling it the way that I see it. Am I wrong?
I really don't know.   It is hard for me to say whether the Pens quit or were just outplayed (which to me includes being out-hustled).   I think it is pretty likely the Pens took their foot off the pedal in the 3rd period of Game 5 when they thought they had the series won and are having a hard time finding the gas.  I don't know what the issue was last night -- they came out sluggish and things went downhill from there. They were very fortunate to be down only 1 goal after the 1st period.  Surely they could not have been taking the Caps lightly after that?

Maybe the Caps do want it more or perhaps they are just the better team right now, who is to say -- probably both are true.

So listening to hockey central at noon podcast, the concussion spotter does not factor the boards into his duties saying the boards are not one of the mechanisms  that the spotter can use as potential for injury. :loco:

And he/she also cannot take into account any past medical history. Basically every player starts the game 100% healthy with no prior concussions.

Seems pretty unbelievable to me.

Article.

I read an article on TSN. Pretty hard to believe they'd have this "loophole"

" Depending on the mechanism of injury, ‘slow to get up’ does not trigger mandatory removal,” NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly told Kevin Allen of USA TODAY Sports. “The protocol has to be interpreted literally to mandate a removal. ‘Ice’ as compared to ‘boards’ is in there for a reason. It’s the result of a study on our actual experiences over a number of years. ‘Ice’ has been found to be a predictor of concussions -- ‘boards’ has not been.” "

7:30.............. I might be a little tipsy by then.

You know, to dull the possible pain and all that.  Or celebrate.  Either way.

All I know is that the Capitals haven't choked yet.  So all things are possible...

That is really dumb.  So, someone could grab Crosby's head and smash it into the boards like it's a turnbuckle in pro wrestling and the concussion spotter would think nothing of it. Makes sense.
