Winner! There was a pretty sizable explosion when I threw my dynamite into Kate's hole.![]()

I recall the explosion sound, but I don't remember if it sounded like it was in the distance. Even if there was an explosion a distance away, when the security system is operating, the sound it makes sounds like small explosions and the puffs of black smoke also appear. So what we all saw/heard could have been from the stick of dynamite Kate threw in the hole or it could have been the security system.I still think there's some sort of tunnelling/excavation going on, under the island.I thought she threw the dynamite into the hole, and then there was an explosion immediately afterwards like 50 feet away... suggesting some sort of underground tunnel or something.Yet, when Kate threw the dynamite in, nothing happened. If there was a track there, it would have been a pretty loud explosion, no?As far as the hatch having another opening, it makes me wonder if that is where Locke was headed if Jack had let the monster drag him underground. Maybe the monster would have pulled him into the hatch and that's why Locke wanted Jack to let him go. Plus, I recall hearing a clanking sound sort of like being on a roller coaster so there had to be some mechanism that was being operated underground that was pulling on Locke. Maybe it operates from somewhere within the hatch and is controlled by Desmond.
I could have just missed it.I could've sworn he dropped a "brotha" on Locke. After episode 1 there was a lot of talk about Desmond throwing in the phrase "brother" repeatedly while talking to Jack.
In episode 2 Desmond never uses this phrase while talking to Locke. If it was really meant to be some sort of colloquialism wouldn't he use it with everyone. Then when speaking to Jack he picks it back up.
With all the details the writers seem to put in I doubt this is an accident. I don't think Desmond is really Jack's brother or a clone but there must be some connection.![]()

So if those people at the end were from the other part of the plane, who was on the boat that took Walt? Those guys were pretty scraggly for being survivors and looked like they had been on the island for a while. How would they know to ask for the boy if they just crashed 34 days ago?The people that took Walt = the same one's that picked up Jin and had the Michelle chick captive. I thought it was pretty clear that Ethan was part of that barbaric group and Claire had escaped from them. They might not be immune, they just might have spent too little time near the source of the illness. Are we sure it was 108 minutes? I thought I remembered seeing 2-36 and then 2-37 before Locke hit enter and then it went back to 1-08? Did I see that wrong? I am going to have to rewatch this one, like I did last week because I did not see the shark logo either.Having to enter the numbers every 108 minutes itself is enough to make you go crazy. You obviously don't have much else to do down there, but your sleep would be constantly getting interrupted, and there's been a lot of research on how much sleep people need in order to maintain their sanity.
Does anyone remember if there was that "beeping" sound from the first episode this season when Desmond gets out of bed and goes straight to the computer.
What I found rather odd was when he made Locke enter the numbers he asked him somthing to the effect of "Do you know how to work that box?" I mean, even 20+ years ago people called them computers.
I was also thinking along the same lines as you, Porkins. That for some reason the survivors we've been shown have somehow been immune to the sickness and that the other survivors may have contracted it.
Desmond was definitely looking for his replacement when he asked Locke the question. I think if Kate hadn't been there, Desmond might not have gotten suspicious and asked him the password. He seemed relieved at first when Locke said he was him and then he started asking who was Kate.
I also think that those folks that grabbed Jin are the tail airplane folks, although Michelle Rodriguez could be alone and the rest of the LOTF folks could be a pack of the others. Like other people have said, they could just be trying to defend themselves against the Others. Remember, if it weren't for the Marshall having the case of guns, the survivors we know might have resorted to making weapons when Ethan attacked them.
I liked how this episode filled in some of the holes from last week, but other than the shark and a glimpse of more people, it didn't show us much.

Jack and Des are about the same age. Locke is an older man. I don't know that I'd call someone my dad's age "brother", "dude" or whatever. After episode 1 there was a lot of talk about Desmond throwing in the phrase "brother" repeatedly while talking to Jack.

I'm speculating really but they did comment in ep2 that that boat didn't have the ability to travel too far. Also - how did Jin get picked up and end up on shore? Did he swim? The remants of the raft and sawyer/michael floated with the current. Jin didn't paddle himself in another direction. I thought they picked up Jin after they blew the raft up. Wouldn't Michael/Sawyer heard someone comeback for Jin later? Why do you say this as if it's fact?So if those people at the end were from the other part of the plane, who was on the boat that took Walt? This is a good question....anybody have an answer? Also - how did Jin get picked up and end up on shore? Did he swim? The remants of the raft and sawyer/michael floated with the current. Jin didn't paddle himself in another direction. I thought they picked up Jin after they blew the raft up. Wouldn't Michael/Sawyer heard someone comeback for Jin later?
If that was the case, wouldn't they have taken Jin when they took Walt? Why pick up somebody you have no interest in in the first place? Doesn't work for me.I speculate that Jin found a portion of the raft like Sawyer and Michael, got caught in a different current that took him back to the island a little quicker than them. And I think those folks are just the survivors of the back half of the plane, no mix of prisoners/others in their group. The people that took Walt = the same one's that picked up Jin and had the Michelle chick captive.

All we've seen of Jin recently was him diving underwater once Sawyer was shot, and him on the beach in shackles. At the time, I thought he dove in to help Sawyer, but we've seen thats not the case. Its possible he swam underwater to the boat and grabbed the side of it, intending to ride it to their destination. If thats what he did the others may have noticed him, or he may have eventually fallen off and just swam to shore and got caught by the tail section people. This is the only explaination I can come up with for how he got to shore so much quicker than Michael and Sawyer.I'm speculating really but they did comment in ep2 that that boat didn't have the ability to travel too far. I agree but why would they have Anna Lucia in the holding pen with Sawyer, Michael and Jin then? If they are survivors with the same Oceanic flight, wouldn't they have banded together like our group did? Are these in collusion with the Others? If that was the case, wouldn't they have taken Jin when they took Walt? Why pick up somebody you have no interest in in the first place? So when they are screaming for Walt, Jin doesn't paddle back and find them? If he found parts of the raft he wasn't too far away from where Michael and Sawyer were.If that was the case, wouldn't they have taken Jin when they took Walt? This is why I think he was clinging to the side of the other's boat.So when they are screaming for Walt, Jin doesn't paddle back and find them? I think that she is a tail ender, they have set up their little jail cell for malcontents that don't follow their LOTF rules or any Others that they may catch. I suspect that she is in there as a spy, to determine whether or not Michael, Jin, & Sawyer are telling the truth or whether or not they are really 'others'.I agree but why would they have Anna Lucia in the holding pen with Sawyer, Michael and Jin then? If they are survivors with the same Oceanic flight, wouldn't they have banded together like our group did? Who knows, I think the only thing we can definitively say is that right now we don't know who the folks are that grabbed Jin, Sawyer and Michael. As Hulk mentioned, he could have grabbed the boat, although that would have been tough since he dived in after Sawyer and they took off pretty quick after they blew up the boat. Also, we don't know how much time elapsed that Michael and Sawyer were in the water. I can't remember but it almost seemed like Sawyer woke up, so it could have been awhile that they passed out or something from the explosion. I could be dead wrong on that as it is a week later.Anyway, we should find out soon and not to be a spoiler but:So when they are screaming for Walt, Jin doesn't paddle back and find them? If he found parts of the raft he wasn't too far away from where Michael and Sawyer were.If that was the case, wouldn't they have taken Jin when they took Walt? I think the fact that the LOTF gang looks rough doesn't mean that they weren't from the tail end of the plane. They might not have had any of the supplies that our beloved survivors had and if they didn't have calm, cool and collected leaders like Locke, Sayid and Jack, they might have resorted to basic instincts of survival. No one knows right now because we have no idea what theses folks went through since the plane crashed. Just sit back and enjoy the show!!!in one of the promo pictures it looked like Michell Rodriguez was hitting Sawyer above the ditch. That means she could have been in the ditch as a spy to try and figure out who these new people are, especially if they had been hassled by the others or the security system.

But I like our pointless speculation.....if not for that this thread would have three posts.
, I just think the thread got too big and the same questions got asked over and over again because people were 10 pages behind every time they checked. Now that this thread has slowed down, I think it is time to start a new one and I nominate the Buckster for his love of crazy theories!RIPNow that it's slowed down, I think we'll see the repetitive questions end...no need to start a new one, then we'd have to go find this one to search through it for the links/spoilers that have already been provided.IMO, the group we see in the promo shots are the tail sectioners...Ana is with them. The pit is for them to throw their Jin (remember the attack and cuffing) into...or they've run into the others. Not necessarily a bump, more of a burial.
I think this thread is officially done and we need a new one. I think we had much better discussion on season 1 and I think we can do so in a new thread. It isn't the clone theories or anything of that nature, I think those are fine to bring up and dismiss, I just think the thread got too big and the same questions got asked over and over again because people were 10 pages behind every time they checked. A simple link to this thread in the first post of the new thread aught to rectify that. Now that it's slowed down, I think we'll see the repetitive questions end...no need to start a new one, then we'd have to go find this one to search through it for the links/spoilers that have already been provided..Not necessarily a bump, more of a burial.

I agree with you. I thought that they were tail enders all along, mainly because of the spoiler that I posted above where Ana did something. The only weapons they have are sticks/clubs and stuff, at least what we saw. I don't remember anything different, even in the pictures. I guess, I am thinking that maybe the tail end of the plane didn't contain the majority of the supplies. Remember that the main survivors found the front end of the plane and had a big chunk of the fuselage on their beach. Heck even after the engine exploded, there is a good bit of scrap. Also, don't forget that they found parts of the plane in other areas: Jack's dad's coffin near the water hole, the Marshall's suitcase with guns in the pond/waterfall area, Charlie's guitar, etc.Now that it's slowed down, I think we'll see the repetitive questions end...no need to start a new one, then we'd have to go find this one to search through it for the links/spoilers that have already been provided.IMO, the group we see in the promo shots are the tail sectioners...Ana is with them. I'm very curious why they have weapons and a hole though. What events did they experience that resulted in them being so different from the front sectioners in just 44 days?
I'm hoping tomorrow's episode explains some of this.
The only weapons they have are sticks/clubs and stuff, at least what we saw. I don't remember anything different, even in the pictures.
In one of the pictures Anna Lucia has a gun at her side
Supposed to be a Nigerian from the drug plane as per TV guide a while back
The only weapons they have are sticks/clubs and stuff, at least what we saw. I don't remember anything different, even in the pictures. In one of the pictures Anna Lucia has a gun at her side
Could be the gun that Sawyewr had.

Either way, we will soon find out.Edit to Add: I am not sure how much I want to see of this other group. I guess it depends on how it answers the rest of the questions. I like keeping everything centered on one group of characters and I think the show will lose some focus if all of the potential groups of people don't just answer some open questions and then fade into the background like the rest of the 42 or 43 original survivors. It just seems like there might be too many people to keep it running along smoothly. If just a few of the new folks become regulars, I think that would be fine.I agree, although I can't remember if he still had it or if when he swam to the pontoon with the shark if he lost it.
Interesting. They have shown her quite a bit in the flashbacks with Sayid at the airport and with Boone. I can't remember if the ones with Boone were just from his perspective or not. It seemed like they did them together. We also know that she was a nanny and knew French, but even so maybe you are on to something or this is a red herring. You have me intrigued for now.I feel like I'm possibly onto something....but can't string it together.
Let's examine these peculiar items:
-Shannon's step brother is the only main cast member in season 1 to die.
-Shannon's father has been shown dying in the ER in episode 2:1.
-Walt gave his dog to Shannon.
-Shannon saw Walt in the woods later on. (I find these 2 points of particular note when you consider how everyone seems to believe Walt is "Special")
-The only cast member who seems to have a relationship advancing is Shannon (w/Sayid) I know that could be argued.
But here comes the biggest one that I can't believe not one person has pointed to......
-Shannon has not had 1 episode dedicated to HER back story. She is the only main character that hasn't been featured. This may get missed because she is prominently involved in Boone's story. Even with the Asian couple they showed both sides....they have showed nothing of Shannon's perspective.
When you notice all these items collectively, its hard to imagine there isn't a very specific reason for this. Any thoughts? Any other peculiar items that could be added to the list.
Shannon?
What is the story here...........I can't connect the dots.....but they certainly exist.
Haven't watched it recently, but Locke said the "dream" was what Boone truly wanted. No reference for her being special, IIRC.Regarding shots from this next episdoe:Good stuff Mahoney.
I can't remember if Locke or someone ever mentioned to Boone that Shannon was special. If anyone has the DVD's and they want to check the episode where Locke put the hallucinagen on Boone's head to verify that'd be swell.
Michael fired the gun at the shark, so they still have it. However, I believe that gun was black. This new gun is silver and bigger...we've not seen this one before and I'm not sure where they would have gotten it. Perhaps a marshall at the back of the plane?
Was Kate's captor a marshall or bounty hunter? Regardless, he was on a specific mission, not a random US Marshall that is supposedly on every international flight with a US destination.
Good point, he was on a special mission, not the one on every flight. Man, we are going to beat this tail-ender/Others/LOTF discussion to a pulp, but it is still better than the first 40 pages of this cluster #### thread!Oh also, on that Boone/Shannon episode, I thought the whole point of the hallucinogen was to keep Boone in the fold and not tell Shannon. Remember that Boone told Locke that they should tell Shannon about the hatch and then after the dream Boone tried to talk to Shannon and she blew him off, so he went back to being Locke's disciple.Haven't watched it recently, but Locke said the "dream" was what Boone truly wanted. After he saw Shannon's body, then snapped back to reality and was not tied up, he asked Locke "what did you do to me, what was that stuff?" or something like that. Locke's response was along the lines of "you saw what you wanted to see."It's been a while, so I may have some stuff wrong, but I remember what Locke said about him wanting what he saw.Oh also, on that Boone/Shannon episode, I thought the whole point of the hallucinogen was to keep Boone in the fold and not tell Shannon. I remember that. The Mapinguari is a bigfoot/sloth creature. The eagle thing Jack/Kate saw in "Exodus" was real as far as I can tell.I checked the oceanicflight815.com site and they still have that same Zombie script up. This is not a spoiler, it is the same as their previous script for Episode 1 that had Jack's clone in it and that isn't what happened. They did it last season with that Mapinguari (sp?) ancient Aztec eagle when there was so much speculation on the "monster".
I was hoping that they might have a new tidbit. Even if they are fake, they were still a fun read.

I don't recall an eagle thing? Please refresh my memory.at the end of the season 1 finale, there is the black smoke and an eagle/bird/avian thing flying above the jungle canopy and towards the smoke. The Mapinguari is a bigfoot/sloth creature. They did it last season with that Mapinguari (sp?) ancient Aztec eagle when there was so much speculation on the "monster".
I was hoping that they might have a new tidbit. Even if they are fake, they were still a fun read.I don't recall an eagle thing? Please refresh my memory.
I gotta watch that again. Is this a shadow that people think is an eagle, or was it really an eagle. I don't remember anything like that. I have a 100 hour PVR (Dish), and I still have all of the season 1 episodes saved.at the end of the season 1 finale, there is the black smoke and an eagle/bird/avian thing flying above the jungle canopy and towards the smoke. The Mapinguari is a bigfoot/sloth creature. I still haven't gone back and watched a single one, but at least now I have a reason. The only things I have rewatched are the episode 2 ones.I believe it was pretty clearly something flying. I think that was made clear through the reactions of the people it flew over. I don't remember the details, though.I gotta watch that again. Was it the black smoke of the Others or the security system black smoke cloud? That will save me some time trying to find it. After they get the dynamite, before the monster attacks, IIRC. Definately a real bird though. It does seem extremely strange that one of the main characters would not have their back story shown like the others were. She's seems to be portrayed as an airhead golddigger to make people ignore her, but there could be a lot more to her than has been shown.Interesting.
I agree... it lies under her clothes too... She needs to go skinny dippin' ala Sawyer/Kate last season. It does seem extremely strange that one of the main characters would not have their back story shown like the others were. I thought you didn't like the show? You seem to poke you head in here a lot. No pun intended. :XI agree... it lies under her clothes too... She needs to go skinny dippin' ala Sawyer/Kate last season.
Hold on, that doesn't jive with me. When Jack says to Kate "Did you see that?", there were a black cloud thingy that moved through the brush. Is that the scene that everyone else here is referring to or is there somewhere else that the bird is seen? Again, I will rewatch that at some point, but for right now, I remember something completely different and I thought it was the black cloud security system that went by them in the brush/trees, and I don't remember a bird. After they get the dynamite, before the monster attacks, IIRC. Definately a real bird though. No smoke/shadows/mirrors.Jack even says to Kate "Did you see that?"Was it the black smoke of the Others or the security system black smoke cloud? They've already announced that there will be an epi that gives more details to Shannon's character. Not to say it couldn't be revelatory but more that the show's writers are a step ahead of you.It does seem extremely strange that one of the main characters would not have their back story shown like the others were.
