**** OFFICIAL **** LOST - The TV Series (2 Viewers)

Have you actually watched this show???
 Check the post counts.
To clarify, that was sarcasm. Very few things on this show are as they seem.I don't believe Kelvin is dead--it's too simple and there's been no evidence of him found. I think he's Dharma.

Here's what I think is happening:

- Dharma runs experiments on people, animals and nature

- Danielle and Desmond's ship wrecks were assisted by trained ocean animals. Remember we saw the shark...what other creatures have been worked with?

- Kelvin knew Desmond would be crashing. He came running out of the woods a few minutes later and told Desmond to run

- Kelvin told Desmond about the numbers, showed him the ropes and warned him about the island. He probably said something like "if you stay out there too long, the disease (or incident) will tear you apart"

- With the seed firmly planted, Kelvin took off on some kind of dangerous mission to get food, etc

- Kelvin never returned

- Kelvin had gained Desmond's trust, so Desmond assumed "it" got Kelvin and is scared sh-tless of "it"

- Desmond thinks he knows of someplace safe and took off to get there after the computer was destroyed. This is where Desmond is now.

- At some point in the future, the survivors will find Desmond holed up in another bunker

- The survivors will also find (may have found?) Kelvin
I agree with your assessment of Kelvin/Desmond. I don't think Desmond ever got a chance to become an Other like Ethan/Zeke. I think he has pretty much been down the hatch since he got to the island. He may have drawn the map if he did some exploring, but it wouldn't surprise me if Kelvin's former assistant drew the map and was offed by Kelvin because he was snooping too much. Just a guess on that. There is a spoiler from a while ago about Kelvin, but it could have been a "plant" like the Zombie/Clone stories were.

You're assuming that Desmond told them the truth.
I think Desmond's character can be taken at face value. He was caught off guard by Locke and Jack blowing the hatch open. He was clearly expecting someone else (saying to Locke "are you him?") and he was terrified when the computer was blown up.

Based on this, I just don't think Desmond is in the know of anything except what he's experienced as a test subject. I do think he'll be an important character later though...

You are correct, I am definitely assuming at this point. The one thing that I have noticed so far is that while not everyone in the cast is in on every little detail, I think the writers have been pretty honest with us so far. As the great Wesley Snipes said, "Always bet on Iraq" or something like that.

Sure.
Way back in the beginning of Season 2, there was an episode guide for a later episode (say Episode #6 when Episode #2 was just on) where they listed "Kelvin" played by MC Gainey. MC Gainey is the guy who plays Zeke/the Bearded Guy.

Now, this could be a plant like the show did for the Zombie story, but it was gone really quickly. Almost seemed like they rethought introducing Kelvin/Zeke too early because we would have known what we know now, that the Others are Dharma folks not survivors from the Black Rock ship or other castaways, and known it 10-15 episodes ago.

Not to spoil everyone's fun, but this casting info was put up on IMDB back then, most likely by some hoaxer. I would take it with a grain of salt.

The one thing that I have noticed so far is that while not everyone in the cast is in on every little detail, I think the writers have been pretty honest with us so far. It seems like they are hiding details rather than trying to deceive us. Maybe others will disagree, but I can't think of anything where a character did/said something and then episodes later we found out that it was a bold face lie. I am not counting things like Henry Gale because they had Sayid/Rousseau say he was an Other right at the start or Charlie beating up Sun because we found out in the same episode what happened.
Well, there have been several times the writers let the viewers to believe something was true that wasn't. Like Sun only speaking Korean. Or Boone/Shannon being biological siblings. It wouldn't be such a stretch to find out Desmond was somehow misrepresenting himself.

I was thinking of this also.  But didn't Locke look at the timer when the siren or whatever went off, and it was at 47 minutes.  And the timer went off when the door was down, so you would have 45 minutes to draw on the door.

Obviously the mpa drawer was on that side of the door.  What if the drop happened with 10 minutes left on the timer, it would run out and all hell would break loose.
I couldnt find a screen cap, but my Tivo confirms that he clock was a 47 minutes when Locke heard the "broadcast". You'd think they'd have put something in the orientation film about getting in the room with the computer if it takes 47+ minutes to make the drop ...
Or perhaps the broadcast gave explicit instructions that he couldn't understand since the speaker was busted.
 Precisely.

Ok so when Desmond was in the hatch by himself how did he manage?

Is that where all of those mirrors that he had setup come into play?

This is assuming Desmond was not "in on it"
Seems like Desmond should have told Locke "every few months a bunch of doors come down and if you're in the wrong place you won't be able to punch the numbers into the computer."
Maybe it wasn't Desmond on the inside - maybe it wasn't desmond who drew the map, but the partner. Maybe Desmond's job was to protect the computer roomn and punch in the numbers - if the partner drew the map, he'd know where to go when he fled from the place. The idea that Henry Gale is Desmond's old partner should be picking up mucho steam by now - that's who he is, IMO. - It would also explain how he knew about the baloon and the exact location - someone intimately familiar with the island would know that.

Last post until next week. Must resist.I would put the Sun thing in a "hidden" category, because I don't think they misled us. On the Shannon/Boone thing, I don't get your point. We found out early that they were brother and sister, we just didn't find out until later that they weren't blood related and that they had a fling.

To me, what Henry did was misleading/misrepresenting himself, but at the same time Rousseau told Sayid that he was an Other and would lie and Sayid told Charlie that he knew he was an Other. While Henry was trying to mislead the survivors, we were told that he was an Other right away. Ethan and Goodwin were the same way, we found out in the first episode that we saw them that they were Others/bad guys.

If Desmond is a bad guy, not just a guy that got suckered in by an Other or another unlucky guy, then I think that would be the first time that the writers put out untrue dialogue that was a total fabrication that went on for more than just a single episode.

I don't think the Lost writers are trying to be M. Night Shamalammadingdong and shock us with a twist that was misleading (i.e. Bruce Willis having dinner with his wife after he was dead and talking to her). I think that they are doing more of a mystery where we are uncovering things as we go along. I do take things at face value (Desmond/Rousseau) if they aren't revealed to be lies in the same episode that they first appear in. Maybe I will be shocked by a twist, but it just doesn't seem like they are trying to tell us something to mislead us for a surprise later, the surprises are things we just don't know IMHO.

took me a while to add all of this up...

"Henry" being an Other would explain how he knew about the baloon...he doesnt have to be Kelvin to know this.

I would put the Sun thing in a "hidden" category, because I don't think they misled us. On the Shannon/Boone thing, I don't get your point. We found out early that they were brother and sister, we just didn't find out until later that they weren't blood related and that they had a fling.
I think fatguys' point wasnt that the writers are misleading us, but rather that they intentionally withhold information from us. In some cases, this causes us to form incorrect impressions of people or events. What did we all think of Eko and the other tail-sectioners when they attacked Michael, Jin, and Saywer? Why did we think Rousseau scratched Claire? How surprised were we to learn that it was Kate who was in custody during the flight?

Just watched it tonight. Probably been discussed but if somebody could get through the heating vent and beyond the lockdown, why didn't Locke do it instead of releasing Gale?

Actually, that was my point as well. They intentionally withold information, but they haven't carried any lies through and then surprised us weeks later by stating that the opposite was true. See my original statement in bold.Given the history of the show and the time that has passed, do you think that what Rousseau and Desmond told the 815 folks was true or do you think that they lied and made up their stories? Personally, I think they told the truth.

The guys that lied to us, Goodwin, Ethan, and Henry, were all outed in the same episodes. Yes, Ethan and Goodwin were around the survivors for a bit, but we knew that Ethan was a plant right after he lied to Hurley about who he was and we knew Goodwin was a plant the same episode. Sayid and Rousseau said Henry was an Other right after we met him.

Edit to Add: I could well be wrong about Desmond and Rousseau when all is said and done, but that is just what I think so far.

I agree, and that is why I dont buy any of this Kelvin is still alive stuff. Desmond said he died, not that he disappeared one day.

You have a point on that one. Desmond did say he died and although it is possible that the "death" was staged, the show is pretty straight with the fans (hiding info versus outright deceipt). I got hooked into thinking that they were trying to surprise us that Henry wasn't an other and I think you have swayed me on the Kelvin thing until I see otherwise. I still think that Henry will end up helping the survivors, however ;) , mainly because he just doesn't seem to be as ruthless as Zeke/Goodwin/Ethan were.

My guess is that this show is never going to really explain anything.

It doesn't have to, the show has taken on a life of its own on the internet.

You guys have all become part of the Lost Experiment and now we've got real life Jacks and Lockes in this forum. Give people bits and pieces of data and watch what happens.
a show about nothing....where have i heard that before?

:o

The writers didn't get a show made without a full story and conclusion.
You are so wrong. They gave them a nice pilot and a plan for the first season and then we will see what happens.
then ABC fired them because they thought that the show would flop.....

I said in an earlier post that it seems the writers are forcing us to think Henry is an other.there is one other thing about Henry that that I thought I noticed. He looks like the guy Hurley was talking to in the mental hospital. The one that kept repeating the numbers and went nuts when Hurley said he used them.

I could be wrong. I don't tape shows that I watch, But from memory I think they are the same person.

Similar, but not the same.

Hmm.. I thought the guy in the previews wearing a bathrobe was going to be this guy, but now I'm not sure.

Thank you. I think it was his crazy reaction to Hurley (those crazy eyes) that reminded me of Henry. I think Henry has "crazy eyes."

'Lost' producers lobby for scheduling change

Tuesday, April 4 2006, 20:50 BST - by Neil Wilkes

The producers of Lost are seeking a new scheduling model for the show in the US to curb the frequency of repeats.

Most US series, including Lost, typically air 22 new episodes each season over a period of 36 weeks, meaning that new episodes are often punctuated with repeats of old episodes.

US Lost fans have complained that having to wait many weeks for a new episode has ruined their enjoyment of the show.

24 has successfully avoided the problem by delaying its return from September to January each year before airing its full season without interruption.

Although Lost's broadcaster, ABC, is unwilling to adopt a similar strategy, show producers have come up with a compromise solution.

"We're lobbying ABC for when the show is on, it's on, and when it's off, it's off," exec producer Damon Lindelof told E! Online. "So, we want to air it in three acts next year. You know, blocks of seven, seven and eight. But in order to do that, we have to roll the show out in October instead of September, and hopefully that will work out."

The first time Henry was on screen I thought -- oh no, the nut-job at the psych ward has a twin.

Do we know how long Desmond was on the Island? Also, do we know how long Desmond "worked" with Kelvin before Kelvin's death?
According to Desmond:
It was 3 years ago. I was on a solo race around the world, and my boat crashed into the reef, and then Kelvin came.
Thank you. I was asking because I wondered if Desmond might have had enough time to try and create the map and notes. I was hoping to eliminate him as a possible contributor to the map. Can't rule him out now, but having reread the script from Orientation I'm beginning to think it was Kelvin who drew it up originally. I'm thinking Kelvin wasn't an Other, but was part of the DHARMA group, and got left-behind after the "incident."

Do a lot of people feel that the "Others" and the DHARMA people are the different groups? Personally I think the "Others" are the DHARMA people. Kate found that they are going to extreme lengths to look savage while they work with modern medical equipment.Other than the Losties, Rousseau, and possibly Desmond everyone on the island is there because DHARMA put them there. Granted things may have gone haywire, but I don't think there was a split.

I agree with this. "Others" = DHARMA group to me. Now the DHARMA group likely consists of both the scientists and the test subjects though, but all "Others" nevertheless.

Me too. I kept waiting for someone to link them. Maybe his brother?

I should have been more specific. I think Kelvin was part of DHARMA, at least the original DHARMA group, and that the current Others are a mix of original DHARMA folks, new blood, and those who stumbled onto or were brought to the island. Subtle difference, but one that I think may become important as the politics of DHARMA come to light. Why else would we be told that Kelvin died waiting for his replacements?

Check out this pic of "Jack" with red hair.

Matthew Fox is in town filiming a movie with Matthew McConaughey. If I bump into him you guys have any Lost questions you would like me to ask?

I've read a lot of the last few pages, but admittedly not all -- has there been any discussion of who the real Henry Gale (or is is Gayle?) was??

Not the guy that we are all assuming is an "other" that they have in holding -- but the guy that he supposedly killed who Sayid found buried....

Didn't get a real good look at him off the drivers license pic they showed but my 1st thought was that maybe he was Echo's brother -- or one of the other Nigerians from the drug smuggling plane...

Any other ideas or thoughts on this? Anyone freeze frame the shot of Sayid holding up the DL and try to get a good look at the pic??

Thanks!2 interesting things off that DL:

1) His address is 815 Walnut Ridge Rd

2) His birthday is 08-11-04

2004?? That's awfully young to be driving unless this is supposed to be taking place a good bit in the future, which I didn't think it was

1904?? He's been dead a while now...

That looks like 64 to me.

Looking at it again, you're probably right... But, look what I discovered this time.....

The DL # is "M-152-906-431-000"

If you add the 1st group of numbers 1+5+2 ==> you get 8

If you add the 2nd group of numbers 9+0+6 ==> you get 15

If you add the 3rd group of numbers 4+3+1 ==> you get 8

Complete and total spoilers for tonight's episode, "Dave".

Also, it looks like I deserve a :pickle: for my keen powers of observation.

Lets call this the great Dave debate. This episode will be the one we’ll be talking about for a long time to come. For some reason I didn’t notice the “previously on lost” at the beginning but in any case here we go.

Hurley and Libby jogging on beach

Talks about how out of shape he is

He confesses and shows her his secret stash.

She convinces him to change and he decides to get rid of it.

Now finds out there was a food drop

He sees Dave

He supposedly met Dave at the mental institution.

He was placed there by his mother due to “the accident”

Later we find out the accident put Hurley into a state of depression where he wouldn’t talk or do anything for a couple of months.

Hurley apparently was at a party of sorts and went out on the deck

This deck had been built for 8 people but had 23 on it

Hurley being the last one to go on it blames himself for the collapse of the deck and feels responsible for the two deaths that occurred.

He chases Dave on the island and falls before he can catch him.

Finds Daves’ slipper

Thinks he’s going crazy for seeing him

Goes to Sawyer for some meds he used to take

(Funny scene)

At the beach Hurley runs away to go live in the caves and stumbles upon food

And then Dave shows up

Hurley says “you’re not really here” Dave then beams him with a coconut which hurts him.

At the mental Inst.

Hurleys’ doc tells him Dave is being a bad influence on him and he shouldn’t follow Dave.

Dave doesn’t want Hurley to take the pills he was given.

Dave doesn’t want Hurley to change he likes Hurley just the way he is.

Doc takes a pic of them for bulletin board (look at the polaroid camera it has a label on the front of it, it could be something.)

Later shows it to Hurley and Dave is not in the pic.

Doc tells Hurley, Dave is just an imaginary friend who likes him.

Hurley is awoken at night by Dave

Hurley tells him about the picture Dave says it must have been photo shopped at Kinkos

He wants Hurley to escape with him to get cheeseburgers.

Hurley apparently stole the keys from the Doc

Dave goes out the caged window and Hurley locks it up and stays inside telling Dave to go away.

On the Island

Dave and Hurley have a talk about what’s going on

Dave acknowledges to Hurley that he is a figment of his imagination but also tells Hurley that after that night. You went into a deeper depression and your trapped in your subconscious.

You won the lotto using the numbers

You saw LEONARD (the psych ward numbers guy) in the hatch (I don’t remember that but that’s what he said)

You’ve been on an island for two months and you haven’t lost any weight

You created a beautiful blonde who’s falling for you

Your still at the mental institution

Dave tells him the only way to get back is to jump off the cliff and he will wake up

Hurley believes him especially after Dave himself jumps off and plummets down.

Just them Libby shows up

Hurley suspicious now thinks he’s still making her up “remember I said you looked familiar its because I made you up.”

Libby tries to prove she’s real when she asks Hurley about the man who broke his leg on the other side of the island.

Libby -- “What was his name?”

Hurley -- “I don’t know”

Libby -- “His name was Robert, I buried him Hurley” “I buried a lot of people” ”Your didn’t know that because it happened to me” “Stop saying you made me up it’s insulting”

She and Hurley kiss and he returns to camp with her.

Flashback

Different angle of Doc taking Polaroid at the Mental institution. It shows Hurley putting his arm around an imaginary person in a chair and when they pan around a nurse is giving another patient their meds.

The other mental patient is LIBBY.

As for our friend Henry Gale,

He’s tied up and makes up another story about being part of the search party for the real Henry and he was already dead with a broken neck in the basket when he found him.

Sayid had also found a letter from the real Henry written on the back of a bill to his wife Jennifer. “How could he write if he was dead?” Sayid about to kill him when Anna moves his arm and Sayid nearly misses Henry. Henry says the guy with the beard is nothing.

Later Locke wants to talk one on one with him and still wants to know his real name.

(not verbatim)

Henry - Just call me Henry I’ve gotten used to it.

Locke - God only knows how you got caught being one of them.

Henry - God doesn’t know anything about this place he can’t see this place.

Locke – Were you trying to find this place.

Henry – This? This is nothing when I crawled through the vents to the computer and it

was counting down the timer reached zero. Red symbols that look like hyroglyphics came up I don’t know I’m no expert but then there was a noise like a magnet and generators, it was scary end then all of a sudden the numbers flipped back to 108. I never typed in the numbers. I didn’t do anything.

Locke – Your lying.

I was trying to figure out if it was 04 or 64, then I saw the license expired in 03. Figured it had to be 64.
