Official MIA-TEN Game Thread (1 Viewer)

That run by Smith seals this game. No way does Miami score 3 times, and you know that Tenn has at least a FG here.

Sandiego, Giants move over here comes Miami. I'm not watching the game, but from the play by play they look aweful. Chambers with one catch?

Wow, talk about excitable announcers. The 20 yard FG is....GOOOOOOOOOOD! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD! DO YOU BELEIVE IN MIRACLES?!?!?!?!?! YESSSSSSSSS! THE TITANS WIN THE PENNENT! THE TITANS WIN THE PENNENT!Ok, slight exaggeration. :hophead:

so is it time for us brown owner to be officially worried?????
You might have reason to worry if you needed more than 100 yds against a tough MIA defense, but I don't think people expected him to even do that much. Although he may not make it back into this game, I don't (hear) any reason to worry since:1) None of the backups are making a decent case to steal carries/take over. If anything, they're HURTING the offense. (update: OK, Holcombe is looking decent now, but the long run by Brown will keep his job safe)2) The offense seems to be stalling since the loss of Brown. This suggests that McNair isn't expected to carry the team anymore and the team/coaching staff seems to know what they've got in Brown. It's bad for the Titans at the moment, but it's nice to see the team came out with the plan to give Brown the lion's share of the offense.3) He's at least walking on it, so this doesn't sound like a long-term problem.I'm not regretting my Dillon for Brown trade so far. ;)
I disagree with you. If anything, this game shows yet again that Brown may not be built to carry the rock 30 times a game. Yes he was injured on a long run, but he was hurt nonetheless. If Im Jeff Fisher, Id be thinking how to utilize Chris Brown in a way where the offense remains effective without overworking my "workhorse". In short, I dont know if we'll see many more 16 carry/half games from Brown in the future. Holcome has shown that he can play the backup bruiser role quite effectively.

3-9-MIA 9 (6:55) R.Holcombe up the middle to MIA 4 for 5 yards (J.Williams).What up with this play call? Running the ball on third down from 9 yards out.....Come on Fisher!!!!

The McNair Owners are not having a great day of it either.only two minutes and 1 yard of offense in the third. Then eight minutes in the fourth, and 20 more passing yards and no TD.Not a great fantasy football game...Even Brown owners got there 100 yds and not much more now.

Sounds like the wind's picking up...I will say this about Brown...he's already my favorite FF Titan player. At least he managed to get 100 yds for a 5 pt bonus before quitting, unlike Mr. "99 yds for 3 games" Derrick Mason last year.As for Elling, he makes chip shot FGs suspenseful, I'll give him that...

I agree. Holcombe should have been in for the goal line carries.

I'm loving it! I am facing McNair.

Good play calling, he's trying to win the game, he's not worried about fantasy points.

:wall:

3rd and goal from the 9 and they run up the middle?

:wall:
You have to understand that the Titans would rather win a game. They are very happy to take the three points in this situation. They don't care about your fantasy stats.

If the Titans' OC said the only way they would take C.Brown out was if he was dead, then the time of death was about 2 minutes to go in the second half.A.Smith & Holcombe have combined for 15 carries and 67 yards, thats 4.5 a rush....Mr. Brown meet Mr. Bench.Looks like RBBC will be the future in Tennessee. Brown has already proved he can't handle a full workload, so Fisher will definitely be limiting his carries from now on....this will also kill the fantasy season for many of us foolish enough to waste an early pick on Brown.

Learn about the game of football, instead of the game of fantasy football, and you might understand why this was the right play call. The best fantasy player on the field today is the 11 man unit knowns as the Titan's defense. If you get bonuses for players going over 100 yards, Chris brown is a nice second place.

Not saying anything about this game in particular (wink-wink)....but I just noticed that there are no points awarded for a shut-out in the $20,000 contest? So potentially, a D could give up no points and VERY FEW yards, and get no points at all for it?A little crazy....not that I'm going to let it ruin my day.

This just might be the silliest thing I have read all year. :rotflmao:

What I've learned from today's game.

Fiedler/Feely, doesn't matter. Downgrade all MIA WRs. Glad I passed on Chambers.

Gordon was just picked up 2 days ago, yet has carried the ball more often than Sammy and Travis combined. Yes, I realize Sammy is injured, but Gordon doesn't even know all the plays yet. This was definitely a good waiver wire pickup.
Brown was ho-hum up until his 52 yard run. Needless to say, Fisher has shown commitment to the run in this game against a tough Miami front line. Brown is going to have a good year. Yes, you can talk about his injury, but he was hit down hard. I would be willing to bet he'd be back in the game if the game was closer. As for those talking about RBBC, take away the big plays from each of the RBs and Brown is still the best performer.
Miami Dolphin Fans everywhere are crying that this is going to be one of the worst years ever for Miami. My 2 cents...

Throw a fade to the back of the endzone.....you know a ball that won't be intercepted. At least take a shot at the endzone.....this isn't about fantasy points, this is about football.

Whatever...it was a #### call....you take a shot at the endzone. period. FF points notwithstanding, I would say the same no matter who did it...

180 yards on the ground allowed by MIA so far. Their run defense is big time overrated.Any other Eagle fans out there looking forward to picking in the beginning of round 2 at next year's draft thanks to MIA's generosity?

Smith had ONE good carry after 2 fumbles and a number of negative yd carries. That might be good for a Miami back, but Fisher isn't going to ask for more of that.Holcombe is sounding decent now, but the game is pretty much in hand. Brown did what he needed to do to get them ahead and the defense took over from there. If Miami was making a game of this, the story might be a little different. How can you call yourself a swami and call Brown 'unable to handle the load' based on one half? Upset someone else beat you to him on draft day? 100 yds against MIA is impressive any way you look at it and not to be taken lightly. As for the kick, I'm not watching the game- I'm listening to it. And these announcers sound like they're on pins and needles every time he lines up.

Gambled on Feeley and lost and gambled on Ricky and lost.Too bad there don't appear to be many franchise quality QBs coming out of college this year. Looks like it could be a long 2 years for Miami.

When you are up by 14 points, with under 10 minutes left in the game, you do not risk an INT against the Miami D when running 35 seconds off the clock and kicking the FG does much more for you to WIN the game.

they gave up a 3rd rounder for him........

Woooooooohooooooooo TD McMichael! 7 points just like that! Thanks to all the FBG who told me to keep in the Assistant Coach thread :) This is a big big help since I go against Gonzo as well.-QG

I'll try to learn about football in the future...any books you recomend? have you written any while on staff at footballguys? Maybe you and Fisher will learn something about playing to win instead of not to lose, because it looks to me like Miami has planty of time left for a comeback!!! :duel:

That's not my assessment, but I hope your right, because I was not foolish enough to pick him. My guess is, as soon as he's healthy enough to go back in full time, he'll get all the carries again. And could possibly be a top ten RB>

Its not a black and white thing. An argument can be made for either side. If it was me, I'm happy with the FG as a head coach. No problem if you disagree, just don't be so blinded as to feign understanding of the choice.

B/c you apparently missed it. THAT is the reasoning - go up by three scores with less than 10 minutes left - that is how you win,Turn the ball over on a blown play when you are up by two scores and you give up the comeback. Taking unnecessary risks is not "playing to win" - it is simply playing risky football.Football, in the late fourth quarter, is played conservatively when you are up by 14 points. But, I didn't really need to tell anyone who knows the game of football that, right?

73 yards for McNair? At least they won't be playing a team with an offense this bad the rest of the year.

I knocked down Mia's D a few notches when Ricky retired. Their recent success had a LOT to do with their offense's ability to control the clock. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mia in the lower third of NFL Defense rankings, based solely on their O's ineptitude (as opposed to defensive talent).Just my $0.02

jeez loueeze... he only sprained an ankle! tomlinson or ahman green could just as easily sprain an ankle on their 16th carry. give the guy a break. if he appears on the injury report consistantly throughout the season, then you can argue "he can't handle the workload"... isn't it a little early for that...? it's only 1 game!chill out people.

Gordon's getting a heck of alot of targets, both running and passing. He might turn out to be a no2 rb later this season.
