Yup. I have given myself a migraine trying to wrap my head around what might happen based off of limited information. But it is all speculation. I am not sure if the Vikings front office has made any decisions about what to do with Peterson yet. They seem to be leaving all options open, which is smart.

The main reason a deal with Dallas seems likely is because of the rumors of mutual interest that surfaced last off season a few weeks or so before the bad news about Peterson broke. It is certainly possible that the Cowboys just do not want to pay big money for a RB. Even Peterson.

The Tampa Bay interest seems legit and they may be able to outbid Dallas or the other teams who have interest in Peterson.

Worst case scenario is the Vikings have to pay Peterson to play for them in 2015. Which does not seem like a bad option.

If we do part ways with Peterson, I wouldn't mind if the Vikings picked up Pierre Thomas. A good guys to pair with McKinnon in a Norv Turner offense.

Your guess is as good as anyone's..

No one knows if he wants to stay, if he wants to go, if the Vikings want him to stay, or if the Vikings want him to go..

So far there has been LOTS of but nothing concrete.

Well, I think there is a hard date where the 2015 $ becomes guaranteed... can't recall when that is or how the suspension/appeal impacts.

i hope not. I think it is too soon to give up on Patterson. I also hoping that Miami just wants to dump his contract so the compensation should be small.

Technically they still have the same amount of draft picks just moved down a couple of rounds. I am guessing that the 5th round pick was the one they got for Cassel.

These guys are fast already updated the Wallace's contract with the Vikings: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/minnesota-vikings/mike-wallace/If they can't get Wallace to restructure it is just a one year deal with a 3 M cap hit. They can cut him in 2016 with no cap hit.

I agree about the speed of updating on sportrac impressive.

Wallace will be 29 years old Aug 1st so he should be able to play another three seasons before a decline due to age might be a concern. But as you point out they can get out of the $11.5 million contract in 2016 with no cap hit if they want to.

He certainly did not perform as well with Tannehill as he did with the Steelers.

Wallace tweeted he was headed to the Vikings before the trade was announced. My guess is they talked to him about restructuring before trading for him.

Soon the Vikings will have to make a decision on who needs to restructure otherwise were basically done making significant moves until the draft. Peterson's contract is still the one that would give us the most cap savings if he was off the roster

If that is right that it is the Cassell pick and $3M impact, that's not bad. Wallace did struggle and was a discontent in Miami though, and Tannehill is not a bad QB. Also, I think he's been known for drops and that can be pretty demoralizing for an offense.

I love the move to get Wallace. It sounds like he felt he wasn't being used correctly in Miami. Hopefully Turner's offense provides him with opportunities he can be content and motivated with.

I'm not sure how I feel about Jennings at this point. If there was a talented FA at a much needed position I would say cut him to free up cap space. At this point it probably makes more sense to keep him.

I not a capologist so I asked the dude from sportac.com if there was any cap advantage to cutting Jennings or Greenway after June 1st. He responded with "Jennings saves $9M after June 1, $5M before. Greenway is $7.1M either way."

My thinking was the Vikings might be doing them a disservice by not releasing them (if they are planning to anyway) in this first wave of free-agency. Also found out that teams can elect to release 2 players early and designate them post June 1st cuts.

Terrible?? Lead the team for 5+ years in tackles and was leading the team up until his injury last year.. Yes his talent is getting less and less each year, but "Terrible"

Yes Greenway is pretty terrible now. He is well liked by the team but he misses far too many tackles now and he has always been poor in coverage. He could fill a part time MLB role I suppose but he will likely miss enough plays for the Vikings to regret making him even a part time player. When teams are looking to make a 1st down on 3rd down they consistently target whoever Greenway is responsible for with a really high success rate of converting the 1st down when they do.

He isn't worth the money and the defense would likely improve by not having Greenway who is a liability.

Don't get me wrong.. I don't think he is worth what he is due this year.. but I do think his skill set, at a lower salary, would be nice to keep... you don't lead the team in tackles, even last year before the injury, If you are "terrible".

"Terrible" may be a little strong but it appears he will be due about 7 mil that's not guaranteed. He's on the downside of his career and exactly the reason they build these contracts so they can cut guys at the end. I can't picture them keeping him.

That was just the designation, doesn't mean he actually failed a physical. They likely did that as a courtesy to him, that way he has some $$ due him if he doesn't sign on with another team. And the costs to the Vikings don't change at all, as I understand it.

If they can find a way to resolve their differences, AD will be playing with the best QB/WR combo he's had since Favre/Sidney Rice (arguably the only good QB/WR the Vikes have had). He had the most TD's of his career (18) that year.

Not sure why so many of you think and or want the Vikings to take a WR at #11. I for one would love to see Rick do his magic and trade down about 8-12 spots and pick up additional picks. I'd love to see us go, in any order, OL (G) or CB or S with our first three picks, wherever they are.

As for a RB player such as Jay Ajayi, no way will be available in the 3rd round. I keep reading a lot of good stuff about him and he might be gone by the time we pick at 43 or whatever our current pick is in the 2nd round. I also like RB David Cobb from U of Minny, of which I'm sure our scouting staff has seen a lot of tape on him.

As for AP, sure I'd love to see him hang around with the Vikings. Assuming we have someone who can fill the gap at LG, I honestly think with AP we are playoff contenders for sure. I expect the D to play better than last year. If AP is gone then we have to get a new RB into the mix which I see pushing us back at least one year unless whatever rookie RB we would get early in the draft turns out to be a ROY candidate.
