Seriously.  My worst sports moment for almost a decade.  Giants had a terrible pen against the Angels.  Terrible coaching decision to pull Russ Oritz game 6 up 5-0.  Cost them the WS because of his incompetence.

Always appreciated Bochy.  Felt like he made the right decision more often than not.
Ortiz dealing and he brings in Felix, who relied heavily on his fast ball, to face Spiezio who was a notoious first pitch fast ball hitter.  Bay Area should have two more titles between that and Harbaugh passing the ball 4 times iniside the 5.

Didn't watch last night, but just looking over the box score.

Before I start laughing uncontrollably., am I reading this right? Dave Roberts yanked Hill with 91 pitches because the great Brock Holt, a left handed hitter, was coming to the plate? On top of that, another left handed hitter, Jackie Bradley Jr was on deck

Nevermind... see that JBJ pinch hit for Vazquez. But still, why pull Hill there? 1 hit, 1 run through 6.3?

I'm starting to think that Dave Roberts isn't very good at this whole managing a baseball team thing

This has some good info on what went into the decision to pull Hill.

Saw the interview this morning.  Hill said keep an eye on me and he did walk the first batter.  Then struck out the next batter on 3 pitches. Hill is not throwing 98mph gas and still looked very smooth and comfortable at that point. The main reason Hill should have stayed in though it seemed Boston was having a very tough time figuring him out and was off balance all night  as he is not your typical flame thrower.

Man on first with one out Hill should have faced the next batter and possibly closed out the inning.

I read that and only have more questions. If I'm told by my SP to 'keep an eye on me' he's not seeing Nunez (who's been doing it for Boston for a year and a half) after walking the leadoff hitter.

If, for some reason I am leaving him in, it's because my bullpen is dangerously thin after playing 18 the night before and my hand is a bit forced. I got through the Nunez AB ( A 3 pitch strike out) I have a LHP/LHB matchup already in front of me. The guy's allowed 5 base runners all night.   So why waste one of the few bullets that I have? Especially the only left handed one I have available  (Urias not available) when the Red Sox bench has Moreland, JBJ, Devers and Swihart at Cora's disposal

all of this

as a Patriots fan, this is so similar to watching Belichick coach a game,

...making the right decisions at every turn, and whomever is on the other sideline just botching it.

I never realized how important MLB managers were to winning until this series.

Granted, the players still need to execute, which they seem to be doing for Cora .... and not so much for Roberts.

... but is that a result of their manager putting them in a favorable position? ... or just LA players choking?

All good points and I pretty much agree.

But... no pitcher would make those comments to their manager unless he was close to being completely gassed and knew he was close to being easily hittable - and Roberts knew that about Hill.

But yeah, Hill should have faced at least one more batter.

It was supposed to go like this though...

Lost in the craziness at the end of the game was Evoldi insisting he could throw another inning and going to the bullpen over the last few innings in case they needed him.

Weird decision letting Price hit here but who am I to question him

I liked it.

3 run lead, what they need is pitching and defense to end this.

Until Price struggles, I pitch him till his arm falls off.

(and now Mookie leading off next inning)
