'Official' Money Talks thread (1 Viewer)

Did you guys ever see the documentary Life on the Line? Teddy Covers and Steve Fezzik are in there. It is on Hulu. That is a more accurate representation.

We need to get these guys to talk about how bad props are. I know we have been working on it but we need to make this happen.

Great podcast... Fanduel/Draft Kings need to reach out to these two degenerate high school dropouts for advice. Yea, all the VC money in there need advice from these idiots.

Hey Steve, this is XYZ from Sequoia Capital. I'm worth 10 figures, sat on the board at Google and FB, I need you to advise me on my investments.

Didn't GPJ recommend this and someone else say it was terrible?
I recommended Mississippi Grind, which RN said was no good. But I think he was wrong.
HE'S NOT SERIOUS!!!

I don't want anyone else to waste two hours of their life like I did.

Well, what else does Esquire have going on.
Brewdogs and Best Bars In America are decent timewasters, but I think new episodes usually come on around March as well. I wish they'd bring back Horseplayers, I found that show endlessly entertaining for some reason I can't even put my finger on.

Podcast 32 is gold... I mean beyond the usual stupidity and nonsense, certain things stood out:

  • Steve is telling Fanduel they need to get on board with voting to legalize gambling. His follow-up is fantastic, forget the exact words but it went like this; "we can partners, you'll be the book, I've got the clients, I'll send all my clients to you, you'll love me." So basically your clients will donate to the books, we already know this, but thanks for admitting it you moron.
  • When discussing having betting kiosks in bars and why it should be legal, Skip mentions it would be great for action junkies, they'll be able to bet right there and lose all their money without leaving the bar. Excellent point Skip, just brilliant.
They're so dumb, I don't even feel bad for people who donate to them bc this person is even dumber. Nothing I hate more than pure stupidity, so these idiots get what they deserve. Besides losing a donation to Steve Stevens AKA Darin Notaro AKA The Bookie Killer, they also probably bet bigger with his picks and get cleaned out. This guy prob should be in prison regardless.

I'm up to episode 5 already. I think it was in ep. 2 that he and Skipper went on a 5 minute rant about how none of their competitors know anything about sports and then segued into a discussion on Jameis Winston, calling him "the Florida State QB, Jamison" 4 times in a 2-minute discussion. :lmao:

He did that in the one I just listened to (episode 32) when comparing him to Mariotta

If you watch some of the past episodes, the clients never have an opinion on the pick. Nothing like oh I was thinking about that one or are you sure? Also the idea of having a few picks usually 3-5 for those people who meet up makes no sense. One week of several picks means nothing. Anyone could get 3 out of 5 in a given week. The guys that are good can do it over a much larger sample size.

I figured it was obvious but maybe not, but you're preaching to the choir here. We all realize Stevens is a fraud. This thread is about making fun of him and his show.

eta: Fezzik and Covers are not much better, though. They are both documented long term losers.

:mindblown:

He had no regard for the Skipper's bronchitis in 38 and lit up a joint that was as big as a toddler's arm.

Also in 37 (I think), he asks Skipper if he can say how much his check was for, and Skipper says no. Steve spills it within a minute anyway, much to the Skipper's dismay.

I was just taking about something I noticed as most of the episodes are the same format. Are you sure Covers and Fezzik are documented long term losers? Covers claims to be winning over 65% of his NFL bets this season on his Memo podcast. Covers is on several documentaries and numerous publications including ones with PBS as well as Fezzik. I do agree that it possible these guys are not actually long term winners and they are just using their supposed ability to win to become personalities.

It is tough because unless you are actually buying their picks, how would you know what they pick? Teddy was said to be doing badly recently. Fezzik seems to be sharp and he did win the SuperContest two years.

I refuse to believe Skipper makes anything close to $2M a year.

Don't want to get into a big discussion on it as it's neither here nor there to me, but yes I'm quite certain they're both long term losers. Fezzik did indeed win the supercontest twice, but as you mentioned earlier, anyone can get hot over a small sample. And yes, picking 5 games a week at stale lines over 2 seasons is a small sample. Not saying it's not impressive, but it certainly isn't proof that he's +EV long term. I think he was definitely a winner at some point in the past, but his edge has likely eroded as markets have become tougher. Covers bounces around between tout services every 6 months and charges like $5 per pick. I'm pretty sure he's -EV too and there is documentation of his time at Pregame to back that up.

Just listening to podcast 19 right before Pacquiao/Mayweather when they're talking about all the sports stars that came to visit Mayweather's gym during training.

Stevens : "You had Richard Sherman and Russell Williams from the Seahawks..."
Skipper : "Dominic Suh....."

A few minutes later.

Stevens : "Me and Skip got row 7 tickets. You'll see us there. We'll be in the fifth row. Well......(pause and audible, earnest counting)... the SEVENTH row.."

Then before it ended, Skip goes into a rant about how he's hit the trifecta 4 of the last 7 years for the Derby and is a whiz with horses, then launches into an explanation of why the payouts are so big. Because the PURSE, which is the amount of money being wagered, is so huge. Not the handle, the purse.

These are the experts that are going give you a guaranteed return sports betting. :lmao:
