I love how the sucker-of-the-week walked in all nervous and shaking.Pretty sure skipper could be bought off, or at least delayed, with a corned beef sandwich. So what happens if a client refuses to pay Darin his perfectly reasonable FIFTY PERCENT COMMISSION?
Is he gonna send some goons to collect?I love how the sucker-of-the-week walked in all nervous and shaking.
Plain and simple!Pretty sure skipper could be bought off, or at least delayed, with a corned beef sandwich. So what happens if a client refuses to pay Darin his perfectly reasonable FIFTY PERCENT COMMISSION?

So Dentist is on this show?Easier to explain away a loss as a "fluke" if a favorite loses too. He convinces someone to get on the Browns +8 and they lose 33-0 and that's tougher to rationalize.Seriously have not seen him pick a dog in 8 episodes.I absolutely love the show, I just can't believe it. Has this guy ever picked an underdog in his life? I mean, it's obvious why he does what he does, but it's just so transparent.Wagering thread regulars are big fans
It's easier to sell the favorite as an ABSOLUTE BLOW.....OUT WINNER!, after all.
It seems that they take 50% or whatever percentage of every win, regardless of the losses, right? So you went 3-1 this weekend & broke even after my standard 50%. Good weekend.
Riiiight? How could you possibly make money when you are paying 50% on every bet you win and absorbing 100% of your losses.I'm convinced the money they are actualy making is from the sale of the TV show and now the $250 a week fees they are getting people to sign up for. Nobody is giving that clown 50%.
Pretty much.It seems that they take 50% or whatever percentage of every win, regardless of the losses, right? So you went 3-1 this weekend & broke even after my standard 50%. Good weekend.
For example, three bets of a grand each at even money for simple math sake.
First best, lose $1,000.
Second best, lose $1,000
Third bet, win $1,000 (-$500 commission) = $500 profit.
Net winnings = -$1500?
It would be better than going with Skip.Going to the strip club with Pirelli would be fun...precisely once.
Just came in to post this. Yeah, there's 0 reason why he can't do this from the East Coast. Why can't the skipper work out of his house? Just needs a phone.
Impossible that it's real. How dumb does someone have to be to pay him half of a winning wager, while absorbing 100% of the losses. I refuse to believe it.Does anyone really pay him 50%?
That has to be scripted... Nobody is that stupid.
Because then he would see his wife every day. Plus he is a confessed degenerate gambler. Why can't the skipper work out of his house? Just needs a phone.
When I first started watching the episode and they announced the VIP Classic, I was like..wait, why don't they just mark their bets and amounts on paper without actually betting, skip the casino and that way the winner has $5,000.Gotta like the VIP Classic!! Start with $5k and winner goes home with $1800![]()
They're on facebook.I'm going to miss this show, but I guess I'll just have to imagine these guys are still out there, ripping people off and pissing away huge sums of money while acting like complete jerkoffs.
That was a joke, kind of like when Cheers ended and people were saying they were happy they could imagine those characters continuing to sit around drinking beer and discussing trivial matters. They're on facebook.I'm going to miss this show, but I guess I'll just have to imagine these guys are still out there, ripping people off and pissing away huge sums of money while acting like complete jerkoffs.![]()
I actually thought about that during the last episode... If someone really was dumb enough to give this guy 50%, I wondered if they would only report half of their winnings. In addition to Steve's 50%, don't forget about the IRS's cut. He had one guy playing $60K on a game. Anything over $10K and you're filling out paperwork. Even when you win a bet with ol' Steve, you barely get to keep any of it.
Were this real, they'd be spreading out the action in multiple joints.
RN knows this book, but if anyone's interested in reading up on a real guy who beats sports betting huge, The Smart Money by Michael Konik is a good read. It's about his time being a runner for Billy Walters, who would usually employ guys to get down bets for him, and they'd take a cut in return. Ashton Kutcher's done it too for a bit, I think.

If I was the "Bookie Killer" I could see not wanting to watch it. That has to be stressful.I don't get people on this show betting big on games and then not even watching them. getting updates on your phones isn't quite the same.
