Oklahoma - I would love to see them land a few 5 star recruits.
Looks like OU's class is pretty much set and the only 5 star will be Trey Metoyer who they signed last year. But they do have 8-9 4 stars who've committed.
the kids from jenks rb is he a 5 star?
4
would be nice for the hype to land some 5 stars - Bradford was a three-star recruit not that highly ranked among the high school class of 2006 and well...

You just contradicted yourself. Five star recruits don't guarantee anything, what you want is layers of highly rated guys which OU always does.

...the source told Schad that Kelly and Oregon are not anticipating heavy sanctions from the NCAA's inquiry into the school's relationship with alleged street agent Willie Lyles.

A source told Schad that Oregon would have interest in Boise State coach Chris Petersen if Kelly departs and that Petersen may be willing to listen, as he once did with Stanford.
Well, he would be #1 on my list if/when Kelly leaves.

How many games will Reverend Richt suspend Sanders Commings for beating up his girlfriend? Just the Buffalo game or will he get tough and sit him against Mizzou too?
Its his first offense so we'll see.BTW what do Tech fans think about pulling the scholarship?
Your story only has half the real story. Player was told several times he needed to get his test scores up. He never took the SAT/ACT again. How do I feel? It's frustrating because he's supposedly a smart kid but with limited English. He's from Ivory Coast. This is the reason Ga. Tech can't compete consistently with Clemson, FSU, and the SEC for recruits. Our administration will never let us be great in football. So "good" is great for us.Hell, we're waiting for a defensive lineman to commit to us after he finds out Alabama can't make room for him in their 25. He'll be our 3rd best recruit. It's just a different playing field.
So, what is the requirement for getting into GT exactly? Straight A's and nothing lower than 1600 on the SAT? I don't know the answer...just wondering. The follow up question is how do the academic standards at GT compare to the rest of the ACC?
I don't know what the administration requires but they must approve every kid individually. Football team doesn't get any free passes anymore. O'Leary got a couple when he was here but Gailey and Johnson don't get any. Only other ACC school I've heard of rejecting fully qualified kids is Virginia. I'm guessing it's happened at Duke or Wake or even UNC before though.
So they reject them for other reasons? Trying to understand what "rejecting fully qualified kids" means. If they meet the school standards, why reject them?
Fully qualified by NCAA standards. School rejects them because they don't meet GT's standards.
oh...my bad. This happens at a few places I am aware of. Almost every year, Michigan has guys they give conditional offers to that they have to pull up their grades and if they do, they can come into the family. Most of the time they pull their grades up and are accepted. Rawls at Michigan is a good example of that happening just last year.

Whats up with Oregon's class? Seems a little light considering the Rose Bowl win.
It's Oregon. :shrug:Usually, Oregon gets maybe 1 5* each year, if things break right. Otherwise, it's all 3* & 4*'s that they coach up. They look for guys who fit the system and can flourish, not nec. by rankings. I mean, obviously, all schools do that, but Oregon has gone from getting 2* and 3*'s to 3* & 4*'s along w/ the occasional 5*. It's working.

It definitely is working. I see you were 12th and 17th in '11 and'10...so not sure why some media have called it out being around 20 with some spots left.

They'll have the second or third best recruiting class in the Pac-12 behind Southern Cal and/or Stanford.Cal's recruiting class is falling apart now that Tosh Lupoi left for UW.

That's based, in large part, on the quantity of the class. Southern Cal can take at least three more players (I'm not sure which ones have already enrolled) since they have 12 commits. They are finalists for several 4 and 5 star players. Their star average on Scout is 3.75 (5th in the country).Oregon's going to have a great class. Finishing second or third in the Pac-12 will probably mean a Top 10-12 national class.

Speaking of Southern Cal, assuming their recruits aren't making things up, they committed a secondary violation (well, multiplied over the amount of recruits that were there) with their official visits this weekend. According to OL Zach Banner:"“I got a campus tour, spent a lot of time with the academic people and saw the new football facilities that they’re building. I’ve been to USC twice before but this was my first time visiting the Coliseum. It was awesome, they turned the scoreboard on for us and they had our names on the scoreboard, it was really cool.”"

Too bad you aren't allowed to do that.

Obviously there are different ways to grade classes...but it doesn't look likely that any Pac 12 school finishes in the top 10 in the actual rankings from the Big 3 sites....considering who else is close and where they are with signees.

Thats funny. Im sure nothing will happen...but even after being a part of 2 different schools being in trouble, he still can't help it.

I'll have to look back at different years to see what point totals are needed, but if the players that Southern Cal and Stanford seem to lead for end up signing with them, then I think they'll finish Top 10. I think Oregon will slot in right after that with UCLA landing in the 15-20 or so range.

Completely agree. Nothing will happen, but Kiffin just can't help himself (or he doesn't give a crap). It's pretty funny.

Here's another example of a greyshirt being used by Saban:

Gino Joubert - The southeast Recruiting Analyst covering LSU sports tweeted...

ginojoubertDVI Gino Joubert The story on Kwon is Alabama has offered a greyshirt, LSU has offered a full ride? decisions, decisions...Kwon has not made up his mind yet.

Kwon is not committed yet, so he knows upfront a commit to UA comes in the form of a greyshirt.

Don't know how accurate these guys end up being trying to get in the minds of 17-18 year old kids, but if Michigan can land Reeves, Diamond and Garnett I'd be a pretty happy camper.

Hopefully, with tOSU signing Camren Williams(Reeves' teammate), they have a bit of an advantage on him. But, he's still taking his visit to PSU where he is currently a verbal. Who knows about him at this point. As far as Diamond goes, he had glowing comments after visiting Columbus, but he's done the same thing everywhere he went. But, if they can nab Dodson, it would make Diamond a much smaller need.

Reeves officially decommitted from PSU and made it clear it was between OSU and UM. I was over at mgoblog and they had a link to some links at "bucknuts" about how the sky was falling because Reeves didn't commit on the spot after Meyer was late to the visit. Honestly, that place is hard to follow so I didn't get much out of the threads. I know in the past few days Hoke visited. Yesterday Meyer visited and today Mattison is visiting.

Here's a summary of Alabama's numbers from their writer on 247:

Last year UA signed 24 which means they can sign 26 this year as long as 1 or 2 were mid-year guys. UA had 8 so that isn't an issue. Currently UA has 27 commitments. Justin Taylor is scheduled to greyshirt which makes 26 and Casey Gladney won't be signed if it doesn't look like he will make the grades. And at this point he is a very long shot. That leaves 25 commitments for 2012 class and one spot available. If one of the current commitments were to flip, and we aren't expecting any but never rule that out, it would open up room to sign another prospect.
So 27 will be the number including Taylor's greyshirt.

On the one hand, I'm glad to see that Tennessee is ranked 11 by Rivals (no, I don't care that you think Rivals sucks).

On the other hand, I'm a little :scared: that 9 of their top 21 schools are in the SEC.

A small bit more on Diamond toward the front of thishttp://arkansas.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1321802

Half of the 18 prospects who took an official visit to the University of Arkansas this weekend were already committed to the Razorbacks, and several said they got good vibes from the non-committed recruits.

The top recruit in the nation, Springfield (Mo.) Hillcrest wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham was among the visitors and the feel around Fayetteville is that the Hogs are in great shape with him.

"Arkansas would probably be DGB's top school," UA wide receiver commit D'Arthur Cowan said. "With the fun we had last night and the coaches hanging out with us. I'd probably say he'll end up picking Arkansas just by all the fun that we had this weekend."

UA offensive line commit Cordale Boyd got a good vibe from both Green-Beckham and four-star offensive line recruit Jordan Diamond.

"I got a very strong and positive vibe about the whole campus itself, and they really liked it," Boyd said. "Especially Jordan, he said he really liked it. And DGB, he liked it too. We have a good chance of nabbing both of them I would think. I hope they come on and Call the Hogs."

Diamond is considering several schools. During the Arkansas-Michigan basketball game, UA offensive line commit Jeremy Ward got the impression that those two schools also lead for Diamond's services.

"Jordan, I think we got real close," Ward said. "He's a real big family guy. He likes to have a lot of camaraderie. I kept telling him that's what Arkansas' all about. I don't think he really got what I was saying until he came here. I think he was really blown away. Eat at the Catfish Hole but nothing like that. That pep rally, I think he really, really enjoyed himself, and I think he'll be a Hog honestly.

"We were leaving the basketball game, and he was like 'I'm going to have take your hat,' because I was wearing an Arkansas hat, and I said 'why is that?' And he said because I'm going to have to put it on the table."

Ward also got a good impression for highly recruited linebacker Dalton Santos, who is currently committed to Tennessee with a visit slated to Ohio State next weekend.

"Dalton Santos. We talked a good bit. He'll probably end up committing. He loved it. He had a blast," Ward said.

Of course, all kids say positive things about every school they visit. On the rare occasion they don't, they something went horribly wrong. But it sure was nice to hosting and beating Michigan in basketball during a recruiting visit of a prospect we are both shooting for. :D

The "Meyer late" crap was just that...crap. His coach cleaned it up. I suspect Reeves will be making a decision by the weekend. Also read where Diamond has eliminated OSU from his list. That was on the 247 sports board. Can't find the thread now :kicksrock:

I've been impressed with Dooley's recruiting since Day 1. He got very little credit for accomplishing the exact same thing Kiffin was lauded for in his first year....under MUCH tougher circumstances. Of course Dooley did learn from the master ;) .If he can mature as a game day coach I really think he'll make it someday....

I post this here because I am wondering what impact, if any will be on recruiting for Rutgers. I know there are several schools licking their chops to get some guys who are committed to Rutgers. National signing day may be more eventful then we first thought.

This could impact Devin Fuller, who was thought to be a heavy lean to Rutgers. Arizona could be a big player.

Things change rapidly.UCLA had an in home visit with him yesterday.Today, he's decided he's going to sign on Signing Day.From Greg Biggins: According to source very close to Thompson, his leader changes daily, "was Washington, today it's UCLA, tomorrow could be Oregon."I don't expect UCLA to get him (although, I'm not counting them out), but just the fact that the Bruins are in with as poor a product as they've put on the field for a decade bodes well for the future if Mora can coach these guys up.There's also a rumor that 5-star WR Bryce Treggs (soft verbal to Cal) and 4-star WR Kodi Whitfield (son of Bob Whitfield and soft verbal to Stanford) and supposedly very good friends are strongly considering UCLA after spending a few hours on campus yesterday going over the new offense with Noel Mazzone and Eric Yarber (WR coach).

Reportedly he is down to Rutgers and Nebraska. I expected him to pick Rutgers like most people, but a rivals guy surprisingly picked him to go to NU a day or 2 ago.I also wonder what Lambert is going to do. I think he had Bama as his runnerup, but it sounds like their class is just about full.

Some big Olineman is the one UM is gonna steal. He has taken a liking to Kyle Kalis. Cant remember his name.Big day as Joshua Garnett is announcing in 3 hours. If UM misses out on him, they will definitely have room.
